Mostly offline. But I do see the advantage of being able to do things online with your friends, drift together, cruise together and having great races when there is a mutual respect all around.

PD need to get rid of the online only or no single player mode nonsense though.

I'm only interested in the offline "single player" experience. I've tried starting an online League before but my interest in it went to the wayside. Racing with randumbs doesn't interest me unless it is a shuffle race.

Always offline for me.
Paying money to play online is completly stupid. People sit there and tell me "oh but it's more stable compared to ps3 era"...no it's not. It's the same online service from PS3 just labelled as something new to get you to pay. I never had issues with PS3 online and the issues that I did have, I also had on PS4 while when I played online for 3 months when GT Sport came out.

But hey....it's no wonder the rich get richer and the poor get poorer ^__~

Depends on whether you like to play with others and have freeby games or not.
If you only play single player exclusive of course the benefits of PS+ are only free games you might find interesting once in a while, but as long as you dont feel anything is missing, calling it stupid is a bit stupid. Calling it unnecessary would be more elegant ;)

I actually haven't once raced online yet in this GT, somewhat due to the time I know I will set aside trying to be fast in Sport I just don't have right now with life going on.

The offline experience is a big deal for me, as it is for anyone who grew up on GT. I hardly play this game compared to how I would in the past and I've already run out of stuff which is a little disappointing. GT7 does have a solid driving model and customization which does help a bit in the absence of more events, I guess. Only recently have I started messing with photomode, but still running out of things to do.

I prefer online.

I play time trial or offline to tweak the cars or make money. Offline racing is simply not interesting. I'd rather finish last in a room of fast drivers.

Then there's building cars and liveries, which I guess is kind of a hybrid also.

I prefer a challenge, so only play online. I can't imagine there is anyone "good" who only races the AI. Offline is a convenient place to satisfy a delicate ego.
What is the "challenge" when there is nothing on the line in Sport Mode? Like there is nothing to gain and nothing to lose. Where is the "challenge"? It is just a video game, entertainment which won't matter in a few years. Stroking your ego vs some randoms on the internet in a video game 🤣.

For me there is close to 0 incentive to play online in Gran Turismo 7.

The challenge is presumably striving to beat real players of the game instead of braindead AI

Nothing on the line? What about DR and SR?

And what's on the line when playing against AI? It doesn't even cost credits to enter a race. Money only ever goes up.

The challenge is to win races. The AI are deliberately set (in any game) so that it is beatable. Against people the only limit is what other people bring. If you want to find out if you're any good, there is only one way...

Dare you to say that to Dark Souls players.

This idea that people only play single player games because they're easy and theyre scared of losing is bizarre. As is the idea that people should only play games for competition a d challenge.

1. DR and SR means nothing to me. Literally fake internet points that are meaningless as soon as you exit the game.
2. Collecting cars in efficient way is my goal in this game and having fun while driving different cars, checking performance of different cars. It is impossible to efficiently farm credits in Sport Mode (50 to 100k credits for a win in 15-20 minutes race). 0 incentive to play Sport Mode for me.

Dunno if you noticed, but motor racing is a sport. A sport is about competing to be the best and competing to win against a field who also all have the same idea. There is no bigger challenge than trying to beat another human.

And yes, I do think offline players are scared. I think they know they have an ego that is bigger than their talent. It's not bizarre. It makes perfect sense.

Dunno if you noticed but this is a video game, not real motorsport. I play games to relax and escape the real world while having fun.

Not everyone cares about competing and winning. It's nothing to do with my ego.

Except the world sees DR and SR when you're not even online or even quit playing the game. It's a permanent record of achievement. It generates respect from other people.

If you play offline and collect cars and cash (that you can never lose) the only person who sees that is you. If you quit playing the game, that record is gone.

And you go to your friends or family and brag about DR and SR? No one gives a flying duck what is your SR and DR.

Yeah but I am playing for fun. I quit many games in my life. This will be just another one.

Haha. Dude it's a video game, nobody cares. Sounds like it's you who wants their ego stroked.

Esports? It is real competition. It just happens in front of a computer.

Everyone cares. It's how humans are built.
No, I don't care about eSports. The idea that all humans are built the same is absurd. I play games for fun. I don't set up a podium and spray champagne in my living room if I beat a game.

Gran Turismo 7 doesn't have esport (so far I guess). Gran Turismo Sport had esport and what? Did you participate? Did you win anything?

Did esport players in GT Sport get some money for participating in esports? Because I don't remember anything about prize pools.

Do we brag? Yes. Have I gotten respect from family and friends? Yes. Have I gotten respect from other players? Yes. Have I gotten respect from other league/community players? Yes.

Do I like it? Yes. Is it fun? Oooooh yes!

Everyone has an ego. Everyone cares. This is why some hide away offline so they can pretend. I back mine up and put it on the line.
No, you're just clearly demonstrating that you're a hugely competitive person and I'm not. I could not care less about putting my ego on the line. I do not care one iota what you or anyone thinks of my skills in a video game. Clearly you do

Wow how disconnected are you? There are many professional esports players who literally make a living from it. :s

GT7 will have esports. That's what all the PD online championships are about.

Only offline, mainly because I'd love to see how that gets received by the likes of IGN and Gamespot. :P
