Strange, I just finished the Speedster challenge and two posts go up about the car today. I ran pretty full mods on my turbo; tranny, suspension, mufller, nitrous, R3 tires and two stages of weight redux. The only setting I fiddled with was the final gear .... set to of all things .... you guessed it ...3.83. The race was still tough and I won a couple of the tracks by only meters, but I got all golds. This is one tough race. If you're needing help with it, this looks like a pretty good setup. Just add the change in final gear ratio :dopey: . Myself, I am a firm believer in trying my cars as "stock", meaning default as possible when running upgrades before I crank all the settings. I like to think PD got the settings close to optimum when they set the cars up. Maybe it is that my drivers perogative is close to what they programmed. I dunno. Always remember when using another person's setting suggestions that they may prefer their vehicles tighter, looser or otherwise different than you do. We all drive differently, which is what makes the settings so much fun and so much challenge at the same time.

You don't need NOS to win the Speedster cup, but It makes it quite easy If one hasn't got the nescessary skills.

Any particular reason for the even brake settings? I usually set the rear a little harder in cars that understeer to get that rump out a little faster.

When braking and turning the Speedster, the car doesn't seem to understeer much. I can try to mess with it, but I think it's fine.

funny thing is, the NA speedster has a better P/W ratio.

sure the turbo is a bit stronger but it weights 110 kg more.

in the end you're not any faster.

I find it funny that this thread has 6 posts, and is more dead than a fossil, but it almost has 1000 views.

Anyway, glad you like it, bombing. 👍

I think this is on my list for redoing set-ups, since this set-up for me a little primitive.

and i can give you the answer for that.

cause everybody probaly had some troubles finishing the OPEL SPEEDSTER cup, and they just cheacked out the setting without giving a post, which would have been in my ass anyway uneccessary! :) Merry X-mas

i'll admit the cup isn't easy but it's not THAT hard.

heck i thought i would have a hard time after seing the high A-spec point rating and it turned out i raced harder 10 point races.

especially that cheap bugger SLR McLaren in the mercedes dealer cup.

I know the thread is old, but the setting are wonderful. Thanks alot :)

I won at Infinion by about 10 seconds with these settings vs. not being able to win at all. No N2O btw, didn't need it

Bob the car guy
So... What's the top speed for this opel? Is it worth buying and maxing out?
👍 OR 👎 ? 💡
If you want to win the Speedster Cup, then yes. It's a pretty good car, IMO, but I never used it in any other races. Nor have I took it out for some hot laps either. It's a 👍, but not a 👍 👍.

nah u don't need nitro to win that cup...just needs a good set up..and honestly u're set up doesn't work 4 me,i'll post u my set up
Well, my set-ups won't work for everyone; I'd be surprised if they did. But please post your settings in here, and I'll add them to the wiki so more people can have a good set-up to use.

This set-up is for the Opel(Vaxhuall)Speedster Turbo. It's fully modified with the best parts(turbo included),rollcage,no nitrous, and uses Race Tires Medium compound.

For anyone who may be having problems beating those nasty speedster clones, I set the initial torque on the limited-slip at the maximum setting (60) and was able to beat them fairly easily. (I must admit I had problems at first) Give it a try see what you think.

I tried that Speedster Cup yesterday evening and now I see this thread

I think I spent more than an hour wondering what was wrong , why my
B-spec driver couldn't win ..

I started out with a Turbo tuned to about 250hp but when I tried B-spec it was blown away , not normal .. Then I thought , well , let's kick some ass and I got to 347hp(more or less) , and stil nothing (had sports soft on it and every other possible mod like weight reduction , lsd , ...) .

Eventually I tried A-spec and saw that these were 200points races so I started to have a clue - You'd probably win a big fat touring car that starts with a "C" - and so I went out and bought me the softest racing compound there is and some Nos too , although I hate it ..

I also messed the settings up a bit ( a bit like your settings here) and won 3 out of 5 races with my B-spec driver (skill 85-72-73 or something like it) and finished 2nd in the other 2 . No matter what I tried (tranny, susp, brakes) I couldn't win them on B-spec, and my tires were wearing out too quickly too so I thought I'd give it a go in A-spec ...

First race was more like a test to see if the setup was any good .I spun out on the 2nd corner so it wasn't .

I adjusted the tranny a bit and added some braking power and also changed the tires to racing super soft at the front and soft at the rear , this way I could manage to keep up with those bastards and finally beat 'em in both races ..

This really was a cool and challenging cup ..

I know this sounds more like a race report but due to the fact that our settings are quite similar I thought I posted in this thread and gave you some credit !

👍

PS : I'll also give it a try with a normal Speedster which I already bought because in the races those guys were always in front of the turbos (although they can't be tuned further then about 260hp (+-) )

Looks like a nice setup that'd suit the car well, Duck, as usual from you :)
I don't know if I'd have the rear that high, that's all that strikes me... I haven't tested it, though.

Nor have I driven the Turbo at all, I bought the standard model Speedster (Always going to be VX220 to me :dopey: ) to do the Cup - it had to be played with a lot, but I got 200 points on S2s for every race except Seattle (Rolling start at Seattle, thanks PD - So I have a six-second handicap and no clean overtaking opportinities? ) for which I used R3s and got 170-something points.
The little non-turbo is a complete headbanger, it's like a kit car - 140mph held down by not much more than you and a mahoosive rear wing = a lot of fun! Works better than coffee, anyway, you won't fall asleep driving it!

I know it wasn't nearly at full tune, but I'll look it up in my garage and see what setup I had - if any of you are interested, I'll post it up (off-topic or not:P)

Infineon and Autumn ring are killin me, am gonna try these set up's, if anything can help me...

Edit: Ran Duck's set up except went with gearing autoset 9 instead of 10, and that managed to pull me through on Autumn ring! Thanx Duck!!

Sorry for not checking back here guys... I'll check out my Speedster and see if it still has my setup on it now :)

Hm... Looks like it's all pretty much standard parts settings, but if the parts interest you... Here they come.

Ran same set up at Inifeon and came in third, but it was painfully obvious it wasn't the car, it was the driver. 2 more attempts and I got a 1rst! I did lower the rear a hair and stiffen the rear sway bar 1 notch tho.

Its a good car in stock form for the Convertable cup.
After modifying it for the Speedster cup you can use it to win the Tuner Championship in Proffesional. In the same tune as the Speedster cup I was given 67 a spec points with the racing just as close as a 200 point Speedster race.
Also you can use it to enter the Pan Euro Championship with Sports medium tires. Against the 2nd line up, I was given 167 A spec points, and these races were fairly close at the longer tracks.

Also you could probably use it for the German race A and the MR races.
