I live in Philadelphia ...We are also known now as Killadelphia ...I have lived here for 46 years ..I can honestly say it was never this bad .

We seem to kill each other alot . 300 plus to 400 murders along with countless shootings .

I was thinking I would be safer if I moved to Bahgdad. Since lately it has been open season on the POLICE ...

Now if a Police officer attempts to give directions or to intervene in any type of altercation ..he is shot at or shot ..or ends up in a gun fight .

......... I am quite confused.....

Anyone else living in a Big City that has declared war on the PD ??

Yea I was reading a story the other day about an officer who was shot and killed in Philly. Apparently he was the fourth within a short amount of time.

I live in dallas. I don't believe our crime rate is all that bad. Especially as far as murder. We don't hear about a lot of officers being killed. The last officer that was killed here was a few months ago by an illegal immigrant who was already wanted for other serious crimes. It was a fluke too, just happend to hit the officer under his arm where his vest didn't protect.

A man was also just convicted today for the murder of a Ft. Worth cop.

Other than that we don't really have a problem here. I guess that's why we don't have a CSI: Dallas yet.

I live about 20 to 30 miles from New Orleans, does that count?
I'm not a fan of the violence in the city but I can't do anything about it... I have my own pistol, I avoid bad areas, I play it safe anytime I go out, is there any more to do?

I hear you in killadelphia, that's rough... I just hope one day we can get past the problems that make fixing these problems nearly impossible.

A couple cops have died or been killed this year in south florida. I think it's been the most since the early 80s. (You know, back when there was the heavy drug/nintendo trafficking.)

Read the location...

I like in Dayton, but a city on the north edge of downtown Cincinnatti called Over the Rhine carries an entire third of the entire Cincinnatti metropolitan area's big crimes. Murders, shootings, robberies, rapes, you name it. The southern portion of the town is an awful ghetto. The northern part is nice and active and the city has a vibrant and positive history for the most part. Battles with the minorities has always been a problem though, from the first German immigrants and now with the black and Hispanic population growing.

I've stumbled upon the ghetto at night before, and I was nervous. That was before I even knew what Over the Rhine was. The weekend after I "visited" there was a shootout between multiple people and police. T.I. got in a shootout there, and he's a celebrity! For the most part police don't even bother with the place because it's so dangerous for them.

Hey, I know what it's like. Here, 13 year-old mexicans shoot cops in the head 'cause they're bored.

Banning guns seems to make things worse, and the doucebags are at it again. In 2007, we can't purchase or import any type of pistol in semi-automatic form that does not have a load chamber indicator. We cannot register them, new or used, either. Also, no removed clip fire safety feature means no selling or importing, either.

I'm sure the cops are feeling much safer.

Watch, when a thug comes at a cop with something that vaguely looks like a gun, screaming at the top of his lungs that he has a firearm, and the cop shoots to kill in fear of his life, the cop is booted from field duty, and the family of the person brings up a lawsuit demanding justice.

 Oh, wait. That already happened. In New York.

That tactic no longer works here in SoCal. So, the mexicans don't try it anymore. When, and if it does happen, we all think the same thing. "Suicide by cop."

Thats exactly what was said earlier on the newscast. But the family thinks he's some sort of wonderful martyr/hero guy.

Broward County: Three Sheriffs in the past three months.

I'm no sociologist or urban planner, but when population densities are high, there's much less tolerance for respect (people can only be fake for so long, then tempers flare when personal, medical, economic issues wrapped up in a lifetime of lousy decision-making all come to a boil), and authority is always a target. Most people just bitch about it on an internet board or chat with their buddies, but a few sociopaths take it too far.

People need their physical space, we're animals with a highly-developed prefrontal cortex with the ability to use tools and communicate. Otherwise, we follow the laws of the jungle, and fight for everything.

Er, I'll feel better when I drink my coffee.

Once again... I'm glad I'm on the west coast and well, doesn't seem so bad here. :dopey:

Even hearing the difference from where you are to our Oakland or Palo Alto doesn't/can be as bad as over there. :scared:

I once threw a snowball at a police car, acidentally.

...I grew up in a small town. :guilty:

I agree with everything else you say, but why single out the mexicans?👎 Idiots come in many different colors and nationalities.

The last dozen cops that have been killed here have been killed by young mexican gangbanger types. I don't remember when an asian, white, black or 'other' person killed a cop.

The only other 'killer' has been traffic accidents.

White people tend to crash their cars when chased. I've noticed that. It's weird how different races choose to kill themselves when involved with the police. Black people usually ram their heads into the wall. Three cases of that in the last 10 years, or so. Weird stuff.

Reading this thread, makes our situation in the UK seem, well, completely insignificant. This year we've had 3 (?) police officers shot, I think one wasn't on duty either.

You think thats bad, I muttered some naughty words under my breath at a policeman when he walked past me about a year ago. Will they find out an arrest me?:nervous:

As for the policemen getting shot in the US, Thats pretty f'ed up. When you say shot, do you mean policemen get shot at and killed? If so, shouldnt they have to be made to wear a stab/bullet proof vest every time their out on duty?

im just outside of toronto. and in any case where a cop interviens, they are shot at, or shot.

I live in Toronto and I don't even remember the last time a cop was shot. An RCMP officer was killed recently, however.

They called 2005 the 'year of the gun', as we had (I think?) 56 gun related murders, the highest number since some time in the early 80s. . . and Toronto has a metro population of 5.9 million (just a shade more than Philly).

Philly:
WIKIPEDIA
Murders peaked in 1990 at 503, for a rate of 31.5 per 100,000. There were an average of about 400 murders a year for most of the 1990s. The murder count dropped in 2002 to 288, then surged four years later to 406.[49] Out of the ten most populous cities in the United States in 2006, Philadelphia had the highest homicide rate at 28 per 100,000 people, and is on pace for a significantly worse year in 2007.[50]

I bought a new Glock and three magazines . If the Police can't protect themselves ...how can I expect them to protect me ?

It has to be an attitude problem . And the only people who can fix it is the PEOPLE ..by actually SEEING something and showing up in court ...the thugs first scared the general population into being blind ..and no matter how many they shoot or kill ..they never go to jail ...so why not the Police ?

Well lets see how long the people in the city stay mad and if the record for CCP is broken ...They ran out of applications after the last shooting ..since then two more shot serving a warant .....by a 16 year old .....

Worlds insane .

Give the philly cops some Dragon Skin body armor and tell them to go at it. Or send the USRSF into philly with a couple bags of beef jerky and some shotgun shells.:)👍
