Welcome to the Online Racing Championship Association's (ORCA) Silvia Spec Cup discussion. This will feature the Silvia RM using the "tuning prohibited" option in the online lounge. This leads to very close and evenly matched racing and allows easy access as the driver need only worry about driving and not tuning. Brake balance can be tuned and the tires will be Sport Soft. Details and schedules are still being finalized, stay tuned for more details.

Tentative Track Schedule:

• Tsukuba
• Motegi Superspeedway
• Circuit de la Sarthe (pending further testing)
• Motegi Road Course Full

Races will be approx. 45-60 minutes in length, pitstops won't be mandatory but should be necessary. Races will be held on Tuesday (8pm EDT) and Friday (9:30pm EDT) nights and each night will have it's own points championship. BrandonW77 will be the Tuesday night host and OwensRacing will be the Friday night host but all practice sessions and races will be held in the ORCA_Champ lounge (PSN ID: ORCA_Champ).

Official races will take place in the ORCA_Champ private lounge (add PSN ID: ORCA_Champ) and we will have a secondary lounge (add PSN ID: ORCA_Spot1) that members can use to practice or run their own races in at any time. This will also serve as a second room if we have more participants than can fit in one room.

Haha not always; everyone makes mistakes.

Since this is a new series, I should register again, correct?

So if I understand this correctly, I can't drive backwards in an X1 so is an F1 ok?...lol..just kidding:sly:

Looking forward to some organized/casual racing. For anyone checking in on this thread having a look see, this is the same folks that ran three very successful seasons of the RM Cappuccino Cup and the recent Spec Alfa Zagato Series. A long established history of well organized and punctual race schedules and a group of competitive yet fair and honest racers, dedicated to doing their best from week to week, but within the GTPlanet Rules. Drivers of all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to participate.

With our shiny new Private Lounge Network format, we can handle as many drivers as register, although the limit per room is 12, we can still handle 18 or 22 or however many want to race, within multiple lounges. Because the Lounges are "members only", you can rest assured that any drivers not following GTPlanet Rules nor heeding warnings, will simply be dropped from the member list and you will not have to deal with racers who do not race clean on a consistent basis. Having said that, thoughout over 100 organized races, incidents of any kind have been few and far between so it's not something we expect to be an issue.

So if you're up for some well organized Spec Racing, with a great group of friendly and helpful, yet competitive racers, this is the place for you!

^Good to see another familiar name on here. Perhaps we can do a tie-in event with S.N.A.I.L. Throw all the ideas into a pot on here, heat and stir and see what comes out!

Edit: But let us get our new season off to a start first of course!

Hey Diabolic, long time no see. Whose this Yuri guy??

If you exclude guys with Yuri's speed that's about half the grid here...lol. I'm lucky to be in the top 3 lately...

Actually, the S.N.A.I.L. thread would be even less spiffy if it weren't for Brandon's help. He's the one who taught me how to link our line-up to other posts within the thread (see what I did there? that wouldn't have been possible without Brandon's help) :)

RDA, speaking of familiar names, S.N.A.I.L. is the league that I asked you to join a few months back. Of course, that was before you told me you were in the UK and would have to be up at 3am to race with us. I'm not even sure how we became PSN friends, but my best guess is through the ps3trophies.org B-spec boosting thread from a long time ago.

Regardless, I'd be down for some ORCA S.N.A.I.L. events. We've implemented a system of Promotion and Relegation in our league so that any number of racers can compete simultaneously. If we combined drivers from both groups, we'd instantly go from two to three divisions. That's three divisions to separate our skill levels by (advanced, intermediate, and casual) to ensure that we're always in the most competitive races possible, regardless of skill level. 👍

Another head to head Duel between organizations would be great!!👍👍

Just put a muzzle on Owens first... :sly:

Oh, and I'm in!

In too.

And it would seem to me that the 'clubs&leagues' section is a better fit for this format.

Signed up 👍
Now, when you say "fun race" with aids on. I would hope SRF is still kept off. SRF is the only "aid" that really hate having to race with or against.

Probably, but there's not much traffic over there so figured I'd try it over here. I'll move it if I need to.

Signed up 👍

Sorry, didn't mean to imply aids would be allowed. Only TCS, Driving Line and ABS will be allowed, all others will be disabled.

A fond hello again to RDAardvark and Yuri...erm...Johnny! See you on the track! (I'll be right behind you. :D )

We'll have to think of some kind of cross-promotional event for the future, we did one last season and it was very entertaining. I like your Promotion and Relegation ideas too, something I'd consider implementing in the future to match up drivers of similar skill level but for now I'm just focused on getting things organized and getting everybody used to a new way of racing. Our first week or two here will be a bit of a learning experience as we figure out the best way to approach this plan. Should be fun though. 👍

Just to let you know, I have been a bit hesitating to 'sign up' for this season, as the moved euro-event to Wednesdays, do collide with other activities I am attending.

At the VERY best, I will be able to get home JUST in time for the qualification, but normally not until ½ hour later.. (22:30 local time) :indiff:
And then I haven't been home all evening, with no dinner, no 'Hello'-kiss to the wife and no time to "listen" to her trouble through her work-day.. :scared:
(Btw: do you guys actually listen to them, when they complain, or do you just pretend?? :boggled:)

But.. I will try to participate with my best intentions the next couple of weeks, to see if I can get my Wednesday evenings to hold up, and the wife to 'shut down'

For the record.. (and if she reads this...) I DO love her..!! :sly:

Edit:
Sorry for the obsessive usage of smilies!
Don't know what got into me (:banghead:)

To be honest, that's actually the last thing I'd want you to do. Not that what I think should matter to you, but I'm a firm believer that originality should be rewarded, not replicated. There were three elements of S.N.A.I.L. that we took pride in making us unique. With this new ORCA effort, we're down to only one.. Promotion and Relegation.

dsgerbc already called me out on the S.N.A.I.L. thread for worrying that your format was too similar to our format, but based on your statement above, it may get even more similar.. I'd love to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't even know S.N.A.I.L. existed while you were planning this new series, but the fact of the matter is that I told you about S.N.A.I.L. back in December and asked you for help with it.

I know this post if going to get ripped as just a bunch of whining, but just put yourself in my shoes for a second. What if you poured your heart and soul into the Alfa Zagato Cup and reached out to a mentor-figure for help with it, only to have that same mentor-figure launch a competing Alfa Zagato Cup of his own with a very similar format. I'm guessing you wouldn't be cool with it..

My apologies. I have seen your thread but never read enough of it to see that you had a similar format. I did not knowingly copy your format and would never have done such a thing without consulting you first. I based this format off of the VCRC and I worked closely with them to be sure they didn't feel I was infringing on their group and everything was on the up and up. We are now on the outs with that group too so I imagine they will retract their approval of my format. This thing will probably be dead before it gets started. Oh well, the best intentions often go awry.
