I'd recommend the DFGT. It's a fantastic wheel with 900 degrees rotation and for all intents and purposes is just as good as the G27. I've had both, I love my G27 but for 2-3x the price it's hard to justify unless you're a real freak about wheels like some of us. The clutch and shifter are awesome but they hurt your competitiveness and I very rarely use them.

I'd bet you can find a new DFGT on Amazon for $100-150 and I can promise you'll never regret it. The wheel feels great in your hands (I prefer the DFGT rubber grip to the G27 leather grip), the force feedback is great and the sequential shifter is something I sorely miss. If you're wanting the best quality for the least money, DFGT all the way. 👍

I would second that. The DFGT isn't the best by a long shot but there is nothing really bad about it.

Save the pedals, I'm OK with them but other say they are to soft. Just add some bungee cords and they will work just fine.

I should have mentioned that the G27 brakes are well worth the price, especially after a couple mods. Because of my brakes I spend a lot more time towards the front of the field. 👍

DFGT's benefit from the extended paddles. ;)

As for shifter. I don't race with it. However during practice when we screw around or doing seasonals I use it often.

When I sold the G27 I didn't really miss it so to speak. However when I got the shifter for the T500. I then realized how much I did miss it.

One of favorites in on a pace lap, clutch it and rev it up a few times and back to pace cruise. Just fun and immersive feeling. LoL

Eitherway DFGT or G27. You will be pleased IMHO

I will shoot Brandon and Owens friend requests here today, so I won't miss this. I am looking forward to some clean racing.

We hold all the practice and races in the ORCA_Champ lounge (PSN ID: ORCA_Champ) so you just need to send a request there. You can send us requests too but I'm sure Owens list is full. :Sly:

Thanks for the wheel input, I did decide on a DFGT because I cant really justify spending $2-300 on a toy. But then my computer decided to give up so I had to put my money elsewhere. Ill see everyone at the next race with my controller.

Sorry to hear that.

yeah Im staying away from anything toshiba makes for awhile, I had the laptop for a year and a half and the dc jack is shot. Of course the warranty is up, but theyll be happy to take my money to fix it. Anything that breaks 6 months after the warranty expires smells fishy to me. I did get a good deal on a better laptop though and I never did like the toshiba all that much, so i guess it worked out ok.

Shame about the laptop, but most are replaceable if you have good soldering skills (or know someone who has). Might still be worth it to see if it can be done and try and retrieve some of your money.

Just don't let Owens near it with his MIG welder!

Anybody gonna be up for some more preseason racing tonight? I should be free after 9pm EDT, thinking about doing some laps at Nurb GP/F and maybe doing a test run of the day-to-night race at la Sarthe so I can get my time change settings dialed in.

I will be there at some point. I have an ALMS race I am obligated to tonight though.

Here is my car

Nice photo skills! Great sense of motion in that pic. 👍

Looks like there isn't much interest for racing tonight and I've had an invite to a beer drinking/meat grilling shin-dig with some friends so I think I'm going to take them up on the offer. We can try to do some racing tomorrow afternoon or evening.

I have a few series tomorrow afternoon, but if there is a lobby up when I am free, I will be there 👍

I'll be missing the first week of official action as I'll be out of town from Tuesday to Sunday. I was looking forward to GVE, but it was not to be. Good luck to all that will be racing. :)

Sorry to hear that Saga, we'll see ya for Round 2. 👍

Just a reminder, the season officially starts tomorrow with qualifying beginning at 8:00pm EDT sharp! Be there or be square!

Will be there, anyone up for some practice tonight?

I will be in the lounge around 7:45, I hope to limit the track to grand valley est so we can all figure it out.
I did a some laps (my work computer's broken so lots of free time this week) and did a PB of 1:8.056. Not sure but I would think a very close to perfect lap is 7.8 maybe a little faster, heck I would doubt I can run that 8 flat again.

Great, we finally start racing today. The car is harder than I remember to drive in the draft, but still it should be fun.

Guess what guys!?

IT'S.
FINALLY.
RACE NIGHT!!!!!

WOOT! :embarrassed:

Our test races have been successful and I expect everything to go off without a hitch. The car is great, the tracks are good and qualifying works as expected. We had some more excellent racing last night at GVE and I think we're in for some great action tonight. 👍

The ORCA_Champ lounge will open at 7:00 pm EDT and there will be one hour of open practice. Qualifying will start at 8:00pm EDT sharp, if you show up late you can jump into the qualifying session (if it's not finished) or you can start from the back of the grid. Qualifying procedure will be as follows:

At 8:00pm I will announce that the track is being reset for qualifying which will clear all the lap times. Once the track reloads everyone is to go to the pits until I announce that the track is green. The session will last 10 minutes and once you've entered the pits/track you must stay there or you will lose your lap time. Try to be courteous and give everybody plenty of room, if you've messed up your lap and a faster car is approaching please pull to the side and let the faster car go by. If you are satisfied with your lap time you can go to the pits and sit there until the race begins (driving to the pits or hitting the start button are both acceptable). DO NOT RETURN TO THE LOUNGE OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR TIME AND START FROM THE BACK OF THE GRID. All relevant instructions will be typed out in the text chat before the session starts.

We will be doing the traditional standing start, when the game says "GO!" we go! No rolling start or pace lap. The race will be 38 laps long and while a pitstop will not be mandatory it will likely be necessary as we have noticed some good tire wear in our practice races. The standard rules apply, be patient and plan your passes accordingly, do not try to pass on every turn. It's a long race, you have time to be patient and make clean moves. If you accidentally bump someone or push them off please be a gentleman and slow down to let them have their place back (even if it means you both drop to the back of the field). If you do this you won't be penalized.

Should be an exciting night of racing, I'm looking forward to seeing you all on track tonight!
