DC at Q

May be we should have some sample rules on what happen if member got DC during/after Q and before race start,

1) Do we wait and how long?
2) Does the member go to the back of the grid or he/she get x laps to re-Q?
3) What happen if we have 1 DC after another, should we set a limit to how long we wait and how many re-Q we going to have.

Transparent Cars

We do need a rule on 'Transparent Cars', not for lapping cars, but cars on the same lap and racing nose to tail. If the car in front turn transparent (it could be for a few different reasons with penalties set at weak), do we just drive through and pass it?

Il just out for tea at the moment. Later tonight i will clear up a few of these issues.

I can live without that kind of drivers like Aceice(Harb84), who kick out everyone out off the track just for their winn, if he remain in these League than i will leave ! No regrets.

BFTDkryten,
there is no point for me to debate about this mate, it is over and it is what it is. if we are playing games through the network , we should accept that glitches occur often. the message i wanted to say wasn't that i'm superior to everyone and i'm the king of GT5, no. i'm an average GT5er. i wanted to highlight the network glitches i have gone through in the last race and their effect on the outcome. because of them , i had my own 'version' of the race, so to speak. in my version, my friend, el rossi and narcis were never visible to me, so if i pushed them out, i apologize for them even though it is not my mistake. Doctorpotford wasn't visible until my second pit stop.

your message was that i committed driving errors and i'm a dirty driver. that's fine mate. yes i made mistakes, and i'm working on eliminating more of them, but unless you see things from my room, you will not have a clear picture of how clean or dirty driver i am.
-----------------------------------
For the qualifying and race issues we faced, why not we avoid them using a rolling start but not standing start with false start being checked. if the race is 40 laps, we can make it 41, and the first lap is formation lap where everyone takes his correct place behind the pace car. this suggestion has 2 advantages over the current situation: 1- it gives us the chance to avoid having incorrect positions at the start and 2- it gives us a chance to notice whether some drivers are visible or not from the beginning to make some action right then and there before we go again through these issues.

any thoughts?

Roberte im sorry you feel that way. the best thing i can do is trying to improve this issue. To my knowledge you didnt say anything. You could have said to me that you needed 5min qual, or 10min. But it's hard for me to do anything when no one says anything. And when you wright something, you wright in a language i cant understand. Obviously my 100/100mbit internet is'nt enough for ppl to race. Atm. im ready to throw in the towel. So meni people is constantly complaining. My own race got distroyed by Hunedoreanul, when he wrote under the race. And demanded an answer. So i should be pissed too or.? I dont say i cant understand you, i truly do. But tell me what you want me to do about it.?

I have to say Ed you are organize this series 100% correct way, really, so just keep the spirit :)

Unfortunatelly GT online is far not a perfect... And so many mistake could happen, thats my online experiance...

Hey guys,

Right Ive been away for the weekend and it seems we have a few issues that need clearing up.

Communication:

First off, I think some things may have been hard to understand considering the multiple language barriers and various levels of English language. Sometimes explaining something is hard enough, let alone in a second language.

Network Issues:

It seems that recently, GT5 has had problems via the network and disconnections have become rather a large problem.

Our rules section does not include enough information regarding disconnections and is partly my fault as I should have foreseen problems arising with the network. I will look into this as there are many aspects that need to be considered. Some of the factors have already been mentioned, such as race distance completed, qualifying, invisible cars etc.

Any feedback as to what you guys would like to see will be taken on board and is appreciated.

Racing Incidents and Rasing Issues:

You will find in our rule section information regarding race incidents. In any instance that you feel the need to report an incident then please contact a member of the admin team via PM. If a member of the admin team is involved in the incident then there are always the other 2 members that you can go to. All instances should be reported within 24 hours of the incident taking place. Under NO circumstances should issues be made public as this can have a severely negative impact on the league.

Any other issues members have, on the track or off it can still be raised with a member of the admin team and will be dealt with.

Recent Issues:

I will back VincentFive here also, Ed has done a great job in organising and running the Enduro section of the ORDL. Unforeseen problems due to the game and network are out of our control and Ed has done his best to keep everyone happy. Sometimes the issues faced are quite dynamic and there may not be a simple answer. This was demonstrated with the previous rounds mass disconnection. Ed has tried to handle this in a diplomatic way with everyone having a say in what course of action should be taken.

Narcis, I understand that you may have certain issues. As I have said these need to be kept private and any issues should be reported using the proper channels.

Harb has given an explanation regarding his problems with cars not being visible on track. This has happened to other drivers including myself and yes, it does frustrate other drivers.

Members driving during races is monitored by the admin team and again I stress that if anyone has an issue to report it. Please find below the information as stated on the website;

Racing Incidents:

The ORDL admin team will assess an incident if the driver disadvantaged makes a complaint via GT Planet PM to either TheORDL, Itzza- or Edwardovic . This must be done within 24 hours of a race incident. Please provide a brief description of the incident, details of the drivers involved and lap number. The management team will then view the race replay and contact the drivers involved with a decision.

3 point penalty per incident, up to a maximum of 3 incidents per race (9 point total deduction). If a driver causes an incident that is deemed to be worth more than a 3 point deduction then he may be given a single penalty of 6 points, with a further infringement adding the other 3 to the total of 9.

Example:

If you finish in 2nd place, are awarded 15 points and are then found guilty of race incidents you could find yourself with maximum penalty imposed and score just 6 points (15-9). If an incident is deemed so severe you may be disqualified and score 0 points.

Drivers cannot get a minus score. If you finish a race with 5 points and have the maximum penalty of 9 points incurred then you will finish on 0 points for that round.

Closing:

We hope that a solution can be found to every members issues and that everyone can continue to enjoy racing within the ORDL.

As I have mentioned earlier, we welcome input from our members to make the ORDL a more enjoyable league. Wether it be a race event idea or information that should be added to our rule section, then please let us know.

If anyone wants to discuss anything further in private then please do not hesitate to contact me via PM.

Heres to hoping we can all get along and enjoy racing together.

RACE SERIES:

It has been made known to me that Bodykit will no longer be able to participate in the GTC SC due to work commitments. It is unknown if Dyingtrying will continue to participate, I will be sending him a PM tomorrow to find out.

This means that 1, maybe 2 slots will be available in the BMW M3. Any members that would be interested in taking this slot then please post to note your interest. It will be first come first served.

The postponed round of the GTC SC at Madrid will be ran at a later date with the Super Cup continuing with the next round at Trial Mountain on the 16th of May. I will post when a suitable date for the missed round is arranged.

Today also marks the final day for certain members to contact me regarding their continued membership of the league:

FINAL WARNINGS:

SAF1
MUFCGIBB
TEAMTRANS
VWPOLO6N8V

Please check Members List OP to check your own current status. The list has now been updated to reflect the removal of the above members:

newmicrosoftpublisherdo.png

Members with current red status, please ensure you attend the next rounds of the events you are registered for. The list will be updated after the GTC SC ends to reflect the new entries for the Ferrari F430 Cup. Dormant members will be sent a PM to confirm that they wish to remain registered with the ORDL.

Also, dont forget the closing date (17th) is fast approaching for this months photo comp, get you entry in soon!

It amazes me that you say you could not see them,as you move around them taking different lines into the corners to try to pass them. Why would you do that if they weren't there for you?

as an advice for the stewards, i highly recommend to change the race starting procedure by adding a formation lap with a rolling start, this will help in maintaining cars' positions as in qualifying and also that lap will be like a check for everyone to see if they have network issues like lagging , invisible cars, etc... and to report them in that very lap to the steward using the chatting box to take action based on the cases found, may be a restart or whatever possible. some leagues give the admin of the room the privilege to not let cars with lagging issues to participate.

Hi Harb,

Thanks for suggesting something that could eliminate some of the problems we have being having.

I think that this may be something to look at, especially for the Enduro Series due to the race distances. It does not pose such a problem for the Race or Kart Series but could still have an impact. The Race Series relies on the grid start and False Check to add realism to the Events.

I will be going over the rules section this week and adding some information regarding network issues and how to report it before and during a race. The problem we have is that drivers will lose time during a race to report issues and if the race carries on regardless then they become disadvantaged even more.

We have to be careful if we were to award points for disconnections as some people may quit a race due to poor performance and put it down as a disconnection.

If anyone else would like to add anything about what we could do to overcome some of these issues then please let your feelings known.

We want to make this league a success and it is still in its infancy despite growing so quickly. We have a lot of work to do still but some issues are out of our control.

I agree that it is important to check for network issues before the race. However, rolling start will also post a new set of problems and a little more time consuming. May be we can take a simple step first on the next race, everyone go on track before Q, the steward can ask everyone how many cars they can see on track and do a warm up lap together to check for lag, if there is any problem we can try to resolve it before Q. We can still keep the grid start + false check.

Yes, I think everyone want to make this league a success and have lots of fun racing. The management already has done a fantastic job of putting this league together with the extensive website, many nice pictures/video, different kinds of racing/championships and some very clever points/score system. We members need to work together to iron out any problems to make it an enjoyable racing experience for everyone, new or old members, fast or slow drivers etc etc……..

I'm with you Easy9, that's a good improvement.

Thanks for the positive response guys, this could be one of the easier ways to solve some of the issues.

We can trial this for the German Touring Car Super Cup remaining rounds and also the Enduro if Ed is happy to do so. I think if everyone tries to clear newtork cache via settings also may see an improvement.

Im back to work tomorrow but will be updating this week and hopefully we will come to a conclusion that suits everyone.

Ok guys, sorry but a little heavy reading coming up.

I have looked over all the issues we have had regarding race incidents, disconnections etc.

Due to the varying aspects and difficulty of some, it has been hard to find a perfect outcome that would suit everybody. The ORDL rules section has been updated and I am still open to adding or maybe amending anything that would benefit the league.

Easy kindly offered some information that I thought should be included and I have added other information as required.

ALL feedback the admin team receive is considered and I am sure the updates will benefit everybody involved.

So, here are is the new rules section taken directly from our website:

ORDL General Rules:

Disruptive or abusive members will be removed from the league and will not be entitled to re-apply.

Members who register for an event but do not attend a race will be given a non attendance and no points will be given.

Please remember that a no show will penalize your team mate in such events and may reduce the chance of winning the team championship title.

Race Event:

Qualifying session (Where applicable) starts when all members who are confirmed for that event are present in the lobby.

DRIVERS MUST REMAIN IN PRE GAME LOBBY UNTIL ALL DRIVERS ARE PRESENT.

A message stating qualifying open will then be sent via the lobby chat service. Drivers can then post as many fast laps as possible within that time frame. Please ensure that if a driver is on a quick lap that you do not interfere and allow the car to pass without causing the driver to slow down.

Once the qualifying period is over the race start countdown will be initiated and will then proceed to the main event. A bonus point is awarded to the driver who qualifies in pole position.

Racing Incidents:

It is the responsibility of the car returning to the track to ensure there are no collisions so that no other drivers have to slow down. If there's a chance of a collision, wait and be patient as other drivers have the right of way.

If you are responsible for an incident, you must stop at a safe place immediately and allow the innocent driver to pass freely to re-establish ahead of your position.

The ORDL admin team will assess an incident if the driver disadvantaged makes a complaint. This must be done via our website Incident Report Form and must be done within 24 hours of a race incident. The admin team will then view the race replay and contact the drivers involved with a decision.

3 point penalty per incident, up to a maximum of 3 incidents per race (9 point total deduction). If a driver causes an incident that is deemed to be worth more than a 3 point deduction then he may be given a single penalty of 6 points, with a further infringement adding the other 3 to the total of 9. An extreme incident, or pure cheating may/will result in disqualification. The admin team will then assess whether the driver in question shall remain part of the ORDL.

Pit Stops:

Some events will also require a pit stop or pit stops to be made during the race. Please ensure that these pit stops are undertaken. Failure to make a stop will result in disqualification from that race and no points will be scored.

Disconnections:

If a single driver has a connection problem / game error at the start (disconnection or black screen etc) they must try to make his way back to the lobby and send a 'restart' massage on the in game chat service within 5 minutes of the race start. The admin member hosting the race will then restart the race using a random grid. Only 1 restart per race, if multiple members are having problems and they can all return to the lobby within the 5 minutes then they will be included in the restart.

If after a race has been restarted, any drivers that are disconnected will be given points depending on how many drivers are racing. Disconnected drivers will be given points for last place, in order of disconnection based on race distance completed. If more than 10 drivers are present, any drivers who disconnects and are out of points placement will receive 0 points.

For example;
11 members attend a 10 lap race
3 drivers disconnect, driver A on lap 6, driver B on lap 7 and driver C on lap 9.
Driver C will be given points for 9th place, driver B will be given points for 10th place and driver A will receive 0 points.

This system also relies on drivers not faking disconnection and rage quitting. Any driver found to be doing so may be removed from the ORDL.

Ghost Cars/Cars Not Visible:

You may only drive through a car that is transparent if it is a lap down, on penalties or recovering from an off. You must not drive through to pass a car you are battling with.

There may be instances where a driver cannot see all cars taking part or they are not indicated by race screen information. Before a race starts it is the duty of each participant to make a mental note of how many other drivers should be in the race. If a drivers suspects that not all cars are visible to them, then please take the following action if possible:

Post an in game chat message simply stating "Fault" - you may lost time and positions while doing this.

AND / OR -

Post as soon as possible after the race in our GT Planet thread.

This enables the admin team to see that you will race as normal but there may be an instance involving an invisible car.

These issues arise due to aspects beyond our control and the admin team will look at each case individually. It is difficult for the admin team to find a more suitable way to handle these incidents.

Racing/Overtaking/Defending:

2 wheels on track at all times. The track is defined as the tarmac between the white lines. Kerbs are not strictly part of track and again may be mounted by 2 wheels only. If you gain a place or defended a place by cutting the track, you must give up that place and allow the car behind to pass you.

GT Planet Online Rules And Guidance:

Where applicable please adhere to the guide that can be found here:

Online Rules and Guidance

Remember that a lot of the rules depend on members reporting incidents or infringements and that the admin team cannot see everything that happens during a race.

You may have noticed there has been a slight change as to how to report an incident. We have a new form on our website that must be completed within the same 24hr period as previously required, it can be found via the homepage or HERE. Feel free to also drop a PM to the relevant admin team member to ensure that we know you have submitted a report.

Sorry for the long post but this needs to be here for everyone to read and understand.

Please contact me via PM if there is anything you wish to discuss in private.

You should see my setup, I using an Ikea chair and my computer desk, with an old PC monitor and very bad sound from the monitor itself.

Its brilliantly bad... :)

Any room for one more in the DTM tonight?

You may take Bodykits place in the BMW M3 GTR if you own it mate. You will be team mates with Dying Trying if he is to attend.

Can everyone please reset network cache via settings tonight please before the race just to try and iron out any issues that may arise.

Race report form updated to include the fastest lap for last nights race, see post above. Remember that a fastest lap will give you bonus points in the drivers league table but not the event standings, only pole receives a bonus point for the actual event.

Hard battle for me last night.M1 u could have left me some room on lap 1 we were level and you were running me off track then we bumped and i slowed thinking it was my fault to let u through but on reflection i don`t think i did nothing wrong before getting spun by someone? Not making complaint as it won`t help now but i will remember that.Great battles after 1st lap.

Sorry for the spin, that spin ruined my race as well as I had to give back my position to you, so I ended up being last after the first lap :S think I was a bit too eager and saw a very small gap on the inside. Again sorry for ruining both our races
