Some real nice shots there guys, top effort. 👍

Drivers Briefing Notes – ORS Round 10 – Route’ 27

Firstly many thanks to Mr T for his overview and naming of a few of the corners at R27. Top marks!

Here's a few quick notes I threw together in the last 30mins.

Pit entry: Auto re-set on pit entry here if you hit it to fast. You’ll be doing around 200km/h by the time you hit the yellow entry lane markers out of the last corner. Anything above 180km/h seems to reset you. Entry at 150 seems the safe bet. Plan on hard braking where the shadow crosses the road on the entry point to get in with no fuss.

Corners: The second corner after the gentle sweeper - Macroorchidism as named by Mr T, is a 2nd gear right hander (although some may take it in 1st or 3rd) after a hard brake down the hill. Due to the additional effects of gravity here, braking distances seem to be a little longer. Plan to get on the stoppers at the top of the crest of the hill prior to the corner or latter if you dare.

Corner eight (8) – not sure if Mr T named this – but it’s the second to last corner before the back straight. 2nd Gear left hander with off camber boarded by a guard rail. Try and get your braking done early and try to stay inside for the fastest exist and set of for the right on the back straight. Quite tricky.

Runoff areas: The track is framed by gravely dirt surfaces. The grip transition from Tarmac to the Dirt verges can are produce a sudden losses of grip. Use caution on running wide especially under power.

Fuel consumption: the C-GT seems to be using around four (4) liters per lap.

Tyre Wear: Anybody’s guess. Due to the changing nature of the camber on these corners it’s easy to get the car to slide. Watch your throttle control mid corner.

Invisible walls: Yep if you hit one they cause damage, there closer than you think in some places to the track edge - especially on the straights.

PS: my lounge open now for practice if you're keen for some before the race. :sly:

I may have angered the PSN gods ! haven't had a DC for a while now. Bit of a crap way to end what has been a great series. Thanks everyone for coming to all the races , been one of the best ORS series to date.

Cheers all
:)

Ah, you could tell it had been a few months since my last race because anything that could go wrong in a race did. I only managed 1 lap in each qualifying session and was fortunate enough to grab a front row start with 30s left on the only decent lap I could manage. Was going great, battling with spin and boycey occasionally until spin lost it in turn 2 I went in sympathy the next turn on the exit of nemesis, resisted the urge to bag up the rear wheels and waited for everyone to pass. Clawed my way back to 4th and had a good 5-7 lap run with toiv, sadly my rears dropped off faster then his hards. Planned my stop perfectly as I had 10% rubber left only to clip the wall on the right at pit entry getting right front damage, b spec grabbed me and then spat me back out on the track so the glitch got me good, so I had to crawl with damage and no grip for an unplanned lap which was my races downfall, heading up the hill at turn 7 it just turned sideways as I got to it, ended up in the middle of the track so I lit up the rears to avoid the two oncoming cars, avoided them but ended up being a sitting duck for jtv (sorry mate) which just rode off my car, combined with no tyres and the damage I couldn't get in a straight direction. Eventually got to pits and chucked on softs to gain some time. Pushed out constant low 41s for a few laps then spun out of turn 1, tried to drive with the damage from the wall then got more damage, pitted for hards and the damage trend continued so I decided it was safer for everyone else if I just sat in the pits. Came out with 5 to go to pump out a quick lap only to get more damage and an altercation with moon in the middle.

Considering my overall pace in the race im disappointed with my the result, appreciate the ability to join again, congrats to boycey on a commanding drive and toiv on his title.

As this season now draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Toivo, Oni_chan. and jtv on their superb 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively finishing positions in the Season 7 Championship. Awsome display of driving guys, well done.

I would also like to say a big thankyou to the CEO (Oni-chan) and Stewards (jasr & MrT) for running a smooth and professional operation. Great job guys, i've enjoyed it immensely.

And finally a big vote of thanks to my fellow competitors for providing both a fun and challenging environment to race in. Thankyou (and ease up next season ok?)

(As the graphing draws to a close for season 7, I thought I would leave a link to a table I maintain for my own benefit. It's only a copy of the official table maintained by Oni, as he makes all the rule decisions.)

I was hoping that I would be able to finish the season on a high note. Aiming not to finish last again. Shame for Spinner and John to be DC'd.

The opening laps were really good as I got a clean start and was managing to keep pace with Oni and Jol for a while (Thanks to the tyre differences). Even was in 2nd place for a short time. But it didn't last long.

I think it was lap 12 when I came of the pits I was trying to tag on to Toiv but pushed a little past my limits and damaged the car which caused me to have to pit earlier than planned. 👎

Then the next couple of pits stops were also forced earlier than planned to fix minor damage. Even had to ditch a set of Mediums for Hards in order to make up the laps. Slowly but surely I kept dropping back due to minor but simple mistakes. :dunce:

This season has been a tough but good learning experience and I'm going to continue in the hope that I will slowly improve. Bring on Season 8 :sly:

Congratulations to Toiv for a superb drive and series champion winner. Oni and John did very well to make the podium against an extremely talented field.

Finally, Thanks again to Oni for running the show. Also thanks and appreciate Jasr, Taits and Cactass' fine efforts as supporting crew. 👍

I have a new rig....

I give you the Ikea Rig

Will be giving this baby a shake down tonight in our Season 5 quailifier ;)

Once again i'd like to thank everyone who participated in the series and hope you all enjoyed it.

A special mention to Jase for lending me a hand with all the day to day stuff while i have been snowed under with work and to Cactass for taking the time out of his day/night to do the graphs. Much appreciated guys.

Congratulations to Toiv again who has shown us all that pace isnt always everything by winning races with 100kgs more then anyone on the field and smooth driving.

Also a congratulations to Jon who managed to hold onto third place in the series by only 2 points. Super drive mate!

Now some of you might be wondering whats happening for season 8. If your not on google+ i suggest you jump in as i send updates more frequently there. For now this is what has been revealed.

ORS Season 8 will be the "Battle of the Tiers".

This even will pit 5-6 drivers in each tier against each other to find out who is number 1 in their tier. The cars are the Ferrari 458 Italia, Corvette Z06 and the Mazda RX8.

Season 8 will start on the 8th of October. The qualifier for this series will start on the 24th of September (all details will be up this week).

For now i suggest you just relax and recover from an intense season. Those wishing to keep the momentum flowing i suggest jumping to Season 5 of the OzCoMoBros series or mij2003 GT1 season while waiting on season 8.

Just a reminder that Season 8 has limited spaces and a much stricter attendance is required (dont worry Cactass your locked in for Season 8).

Once again thanks all and i am looking forward to racing with you again in season 8.

Cheers,
Oni.

What a race...

I had a great night in Monday nights race at Route27 gentlemen!

I would like to thank Oni, MrT, Jasr and Cactass for all their effort they put into the ORS, only being able to sneak in for the last couple of races in the season, yet it has changed my GT5 experience, adding strategy and a true race feel.

Apart from the last corner of lap 1, I had an incident free race, I do not remember putting a single wheel on any dirt at all, and never receiving any damage for the 52 laps.

GREAT TRACK!

I had little battles with almost everyone in the race and loved every minute of it.

I took the lead from the start, and pushed hard for clean air, at the best point of my race and strategy I held 60seconds on the field for several laps... But then it was time to stick the Racing Hards on... the sun had set, the view was near perfect and the win seemed in the bag, so I nursed her to the checkered flag with Oni in full blown hot pursuit on Softs... Eating up to 8seconds per lap in the closing 8, Awesome.

If a spot opens for season 8, I'm in.

Thanks to everyone for some great times.

P.S. Mandy was not impressed with my little champagne episode... ... ... ...If you could've seen it, lol.
