Remember protect yourself at all times and above all
Obey the AUP at all times. Touch 'em up!

I hope they fight. The last excuse news I read is Floyd wants Showtime to have all the revenues from the fight. But Showtime and HBO suddenly agreed to share the profits. And now the WBC pressures Floyd to have the fight. I do seriously think if the fight won't happen in 2015-2016 it won't happen at all.

I would pay to see Mayweather get his ass kicked by 50 cent.

I would pay to see Mayweather get his ass kicked by a little girl. :D

Manny Pacquiao has many issues. He's not great at managing money... there are so many leeches after him... he lets himself get distracted by things like show business, singing, politics and now... basketball. A number of his recent fights have shown him to be slow (slow for Manny meaning he outpunches his opponent by 100% instead of 200%.. ) and lacking perhaps that killer punch to put away some of his tougher foes.

But with Manny, he tries. He's always tried.

He doesn't always settle for "easy" fights, or foes he knows he can beat. Hell... he's gone toe-to-toe with Marquez four times. Marquez is someone who Paquiao hasn't always had the answers for... and Marquez knocked him out in their last fight (Pacquiao has decked him a few times, in the past, however)... despite that, Manny is raring to go for a fifth!

At least, after that fight, Manny got serious about his conditioning and training again. Thank goodness.

It's easy to always win if you take total control over who and where you fight. That Floyd has hemmed and hawed over the fight, coming up with excuse after excuse just tells you his heart isn't in it. Can't believe he still gets the pound-for-pound nod over Manny. Until he beats Manny, he hasn't earned that distinction, IMHO. And the only reason that fight has never happened is all Floyd.

I've been watching Manny box for nearly two decades. In his younger days, there was perhaps nobody faster than him... and his speed in lower weight classes was absolutely astounding. He had little in the way of technique or strategy... but he had heart. Under Roach, he's learned a lot... and in some of his better recent fights, he's shown that even if he isn't lightning quick anymore, he's still faster than almost anyone else at these higher weight classes. Faster than Floyd... hmmm...

I don't know if he'd win versus Floyd... but it would certainly be a fight to remember.

I wish my grandma were still alive to see Golovkin fight. He has just the kind of style she loved. She was a big time boxing fan and really could kick most people's asses even though she was maybe 5 feet tall. I remember a story of when my dad started taking judo classes. She saw what the guy was teaching them when she went to pick my dad up. She wasn't so impressed, so she went in and countered the guy's technique that he was demonstrating and put him on the floor.

Anyway, back to Golovkin. What's up with these Kazakh athletes? Kazakhstan has been pumping out some freaks lately. Ilya Ilin is probably the best pound-for-pound olympic lifter on the planet (if not just behind Lu Xiaojun), and now we have Golovkin who hits like he's got iron in his gloves.

Sorry to go off topic, but is there another boxing thread? Perhaps this can become the de facto thread once this Pacquiao fight gets set in stone.

This is really difficult to predict but I think Floyd will win against Pacquiao in fight. But the question is. Why is he "somewhat" ducking Pacquiao? I'm no boxing fanatic but here's my "casual" take on some "over-looked" reasons (I think) why Floyd is avoiding a fight against Pacquiao. (This is only a speculation)

-He thinks he will lose in the eyes of the casual viewers (not fans) even if he win fair and square.
Floyd knows boxing. Most viewers don't. Boxing viewer logic = Who throws more punches win. Though Floyd will win by using his "strategy", Pacquiao will (need to) outshine him with a flurry of punches. Now he doesn't want that. Why?

-Because he doesn't want a rematch but he can't say no.
After the fight. People will call for a rematch because for them Manny won.(and who doesn't want a rematch win or lose?) Floyd doesn't want to fight Pacquiao in the first place then he will fight him again? That's too much risk for him physically and for his "legacy" but with the amount of money it will generate (again) he will be pressured and might choose a wrong decision and regret it in the end.

-Even if Floyd wins, Manny will take away something from him.
His zero loses isn't the only "legacy" Mayweather preserves and protects but also his nickname. "Pretty Boy"

-There's always that knockout punch.
"nuff said"

Bumped just because I saw a "like" in my Inbox... ...but also, Manny has said "yes" to May 2.

Ball's in Floyd's court, now.

The hold up is apparently not Mayweather's fault at all. It's between the two major stations that would be broadcasting the fight, HBO and Showtime.

Neither one has knocked anyone out for 5 years. This fight could easily be a clutch and grab, defensive snorefest. Still looking forward to it and hoping Manny knocks Floyd on his ass after dodging him for years.

Pac "knocked out" Algieri, the ref just counted very slow. But that's Algieri...

That would happen if Pac let Floyd set the phase of the fight. What I'm really curious is how Floyd will take a 10 power-punch combo from an elite super southpaw.

Or even a 17 punch combo.

Yahoo Sports is reporting that Mayweather could earn as much as $180 million to fight Pacquiao, according to promoter Bob Arum. To put that figure into perspective, that number is half of what Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins would make if he plays out that new 13 year contract that he just signed back in November.

That figure is also 60% of the total purse of the fight. Manny is slated to take home the other 40% of the reported $300,000,000 total purse.

Best outcome for both parties both financial and legacy wise.

Part 1: Draw. With that amount of money who doesn't want a...

Part 2: Pacquiao wins. So he will be the first man to beat Floyd (for legacy). Also this will be a controversial decision to make way for...

Part 3: Mayweather wins "convincingly". He'll redeem himself as the best (for legacy) and he will say "no" to a final rematch.

Therefore both of them will be the best of their era. Pacquiao beat Mayweather and Mayweather beat Pacquiao. Basically no one lose their legacies and they will generate up to $1 Billion.

Manny needs to take this fight seriously because this is for his legacy and if he does win, I can smell retirement for him because he has done the impossible, beating Mayweather's streak.
