No game can improve the limits of what it's on, thats why theyre limits, also KY never said GT4 will do that, he did say it pushes the PS2 closer to them, and it does that quite a bit.

I will be interested to see the difference in speed between the Japanese and the PAL versions. I pre-ordered the PAL and also the US versions on the offchance that one of them may somehow get delayed and I wanted an English language version as soon as I could. Looks like it will be the PAL version as the Australian Sony site has a definite PAL date in March. I have all three versions of GT3 so why do different to GT4!

I have still to see a Sony site that says that these extra cars actually exist in the PAL version. I also saw someone say that the garage option was going to be included for two player which would be nice. As they say, I'll believe it when I see it!!

there wont be a 60hz option. no sony game actually has this mode. like all previous gran turismos we will only be able to play in 50hz.

Sure about that? :dopey:

I will be playing my PAL GT4 in 60hz using my Xploder cheat disc like I do with GT3, Concept and Prologue. :)

In a Spanish web (It's in Spanish ) i saw that some of the new cars in PAL version will be the Alfa Romeo GT, the Audi Nuvolari and the Peugeot 905 prototype. They talk about ten cars, but they don't say what are!! I hope it's true!!!

Lots of very nice updates in the first (original) thread - 2 player garage usage confirmation, all new PAL cars, and much technical updates, I guess that now you have answers to loads of questions. Enjoy.

Audi Nuvolari Quattro

If you read the first post it gives this list

MAZDA 2005 MX-Crossport
Mitsubishi 2005 New Eclipse
Volkswagen 2004 Golf R32(winner car of SEMA show 2005 - tuning car)
AUDI 2003 Nuvolari quattro
AUDI 2003 Pikes Peak quattro
Chrysler 2005 300C
Alfa Romeo 2004 Alfa GT
Auto Union 1937 V16 Type C Streamliner
Chaparral 1967 2D
Chaparral 1970 2J
JAGUAR 1988 XJR9
Peugeot 1992 905B Evo 1 Bis LM

Those Chaparrals better make it to the US release, as they are pure American cars. I can't wait to see what the 2J "sucker" car can do on the track. They didn't let this car last long on the international racing scene. Just picture an ugly shoe box of a car with lexan skirts and a 880cc snowmobile motor churning two fans that suck all the air out from underneath the car. The thing could pull 1.8g on a skid pad. I'd rather have the high-wing 2F than the 2D, but what are you going to do?

WOOOOOO Chrysler 300C is in :):):):):):):)

Are you really sure and is it official????

Is the new VW Golf V R34 in? Or only that old IV R32.

Yay great news if this is true, & it probably is as amar212 has been reliable so far 👍 Particually 2 player garages & tweaks to physics system/speeds :D

Still no euro bangers which is a bit dissapointing, but I'm happy with the above. Oh dear looks like Audi 2003 Pikes Peak is a 4x4 of the school mum variety :ouch:

All those japanese people have a game with less cars and options. You see people, how longer we wait, how more we get. I'm curious what the US people will get because that version comes even later then PAL.

The game is optimised for PAL because it is full speed, full screen with the high refresh rate of a PAL TV at 50hz but with the maximum number of lines and resolution that a PAL TV supports.

An NTSC screen is 240 lines so the image is lower quality. A PAL screen is 256 lines, so the cars and tracks look better.

Because the game is optimised for PAL - it is 50 frames per second and 256 lines in full PAL resolution.

It does not need a 50/60 switch because the PAL version is optimised to work in PAL.

A 50/60 switch is normally put in when the PAL version is non-optimised.
Hmm, I'm going to have to wait and see. If the game isn't running at 60hz, then it isn't really running at full speed imo. The game has been optimized for PAL Tv's that run at 50hz, but who knows how it'll run.

Dont' know your sources Amar212 (thank you), but if you could bounce back to them... suggest them to add a SAVE feature on the endurance.

That's not bad being able to switch B-Spec / A-Spec. That's still mean the PS2 should be up 24 hours in a row (more or less as the first relay can be made in 3 times the speed).

And... imagine that, 24 hours Nurburgring, you play 4 hours with a car very close to the AI. And let the B-Spec mode handle the next hours. That B-Spec is on the game which has the lamest/dumbest AI in any sim game... You wake up (or come back) and see that you have 2 hours to catch 25 laps because the B-Spec screwed everything...

Won't you feel :grumpy:

we will see and by the way in my situation, I can't compare my game and tv quality with someelse. But I'm maybe thinking of buying an RGB cable to get better image.

What's the point in running at 60 when the hardware you're pushing it out on is running at 50?

The game behind will still be running at the same speed but will have less frame updates to do... And it might need the extra processing power to sort out the extra resolution that you're gonna get out of it.

If I read it right it seems to say that the game speed has been increased there-by negating a drop in frame-rate (for running at 50hz not 60hz).
The whole physics engine and crucially the speed of the cars - is rebuilt for PAL so that all together the PAL version will be the highest quality version of the game.
Hmm...it sounds good. All in all it's great news. Nice to have the XJR9 and the new Alfa GT
