[PC] DCS 1.5 & 2.0 Open Alpha

Yeah you were all over the place on our screens sometimes. The server was hosted by Mark and he's running it at home so that's probably why you had lag. For formation we could go in some other more stable server.

Yeah, same here. It might just be that I'm across an ocean and you said you guys are all over there, so there's that.

I'd have maybe ten seconds of stable flight with you guys, and then you'd start jumping, so that's why I never could get close. However, when we were flying through the oil towers in the ocean, you were really smooth.
 
Finally got back into it a bit today. Felt sorta good.

I forgot how bad the F15 was at taxiing when you're not using S with the nose wheel controls so I plowed into the grass and got stuck twice on my way to the runway. Then I was in the air and had some good flying to get the hang of how it all feels again. I quit the F15 a while back because they made it handle like it had a bus strapped onto its back but it feels better now.

But... this game still hates it when you alt+tab to look at guides. Like, it's hilariously buggy. After doing it a few times I couldn't go back into it at all the resume. 10/10, ED.

edit: immediately after posting this I reload and try flying again. I go to adjust my pitch (which wasn't working for some reason...) and Raptr kept trying to record my screen since it had the same key binding. I carefully alt+tab to close Raptr then alt+tab back to DCS and guess what! It wouldn't pull up again. If I hit pause to resume I can still hear my plane and seemingly control it but I can't see anything but my wallpaper and a black bar across the top. 10/10 game such stable very wow.

I stopped alt tabbing because exactly that. It even crashes the first time I do it on my pc.... Like you said I can fly the thing but screen is black. Such irritation much fml

Well at least it isn't just me, but that's pretty bad that it does this on a game that only exists on PC. Guess I'll just have to pull up my guides on my phone then.

BTW guys does anyone know how to stop auto flares in the su25t? Or do they stop after 10 flares? I just haven't had the time to check.

Wags is still optimistic for a DCS 1.5 release by the end of the month. Just a few stability issues still to sort out... heh.

Anyway, touch-and-go training is going well.

Yea I was just looking through the su25t controls when i was setting up my pc again and found the option. I like this feature much more than mashing the controller button for flares.

Edit 2: Since I wiped my computer and reinstalled DCS I'm getting some really impressive frame rates. Which is cool but I'm not too sure why. The only real variable is that I now have a clean install of DCS World. :confused:

DCS World as it is now is pretty CPU minded. I only have a 1gb graphics card (GTX650Ti from 2012) and can run DCS at max except for the trees/grass. I assume I'll need a better graphics card, probably going for the GTX960 4gb version so I'm sure I can run DCS 1.5/2.0 at max. Maybe some more memory too.. What I have now: i7 3770k, Sabertooth Z77, 24gb ram.

Btw, anybody heard about Operation Blue Flag? It sounds pretty awesome :) And here is live information. 24/7 pvp, this round ends in little more than 5 days.

Back to the performance discussion, I'm getting 50-60 frames in cockpit in the Su25t. (Mirrors off! If I turn of mirrors fps goes down to 40). Basically everything max (cockpit on 512 res.) Trees on. I still haven't tried the Mi-8 and I know thats the one cockpit that always has terrible performance. I have a 560ti and intel i5 3570k. If wags isn't lying and we actually get better performance in 1.5/2.0 we might even be able to play it in 60fps without hardware upgrades.
 
I'm more excited about the Hornet and Tomcat, too... but knowing how long everything takes in DCS I'll be getting the Mirage to keep me busy. Just maybe not right away.

It's cool, but not as cool as the F-18, F-14 that are coming along. I don't think I will be getting the Mirage, I'll save my money for those.

This is why I'm thinking about getting the Mirage. Though if I read through VEAO's Typhoon thread, that one should be released late 2015 or early 2016. If that is really happening then I'm going to sit it out and get the Typhoon.
