[PC] DCS 1.5 & 2.0 Open Alpha

Had some time to fly. Happy with Nevada :)

Completely reinstalled everything relating to my AMD graphics card including its drivers, programs, hidden folders, and registry keys. Ran the game repair utility twice. Tried other workarounds mentioned in the forums.

AND I STILL CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH THIS GAME!!!!!1!

Exact same behavior as before... if I try to generate a quick mission - any mission - through Create a Fast Mission it just says "lol mission not generated". If I try to go to Instant Action and load anything I get to a loading screen that freezes at less than 50% and DCS becomes unresponsive.

Annoyed and angry is an understatement :grumpy:

At least you're able to get it downloaded...


Now that you're saying all that, and since I run AMD too, you've got me worried the last 48 hours have been a waste.

Well as I say that I found that multiplayer works... so I'm able to explore it but not in single player. Silver lining maybe? IDK, I'm so confused.

I honestly think it's just because I've had my GPU for almost 2 years now and I got it off a friend who had it a year before me. Looking at my logs though I don't know if it has anything to do with AMD, rather that the game just doesn't know what to do with the terrain. But like I said it works in multiplayer so far.

I think I touched single player once fore tutorials... not anymore though.

I prefer single player for exploring new maps because I don't have to worry about stability issues as much as I do on multiplayer... plus controlling my own environment is cool. I'll keep looking into why this isn't working in SP... but I'm just super confused face :S
 
So... one question, how many updates are there to do? I've seen the 17,000 one a few times, then there's a 1,900+ one, and I believe a 8,000 one, and I'm currently on a 4,000 one. The 8 and 4,000 ones are the longest, at 20-100 kb/s.

So, how many screenshots are we going to see of F-15s cruising down suburban streets and in Vegas? :lol:

Has ED confirmed if they'll be modeling the Luxor's light? I know that in real life, pilots use that as a landmark to guide themselves at night.

no kidding, just found that out... :lol:

I'll contemplate it. My SSD arrives wednesday, so after I get everything on that, and test out 1.5 with it, we'll see if it warrants a purchase. Otherwise I'll just wait.

Ah I thought you already had it as well lol. With all the problems I'm having (and others too) with NTTR, waiting for it to be out of alpha wouldn't be a bad idea... but the 45 minutes I spent with it last night (until someone spawned in a Mig21 and crashed the server) was pretty awesome. What other game lets you use a Trump Tower for target practice and then land at Groom Lake? I definitely need a new GPU though... it's gorgeous but needs its resources.

So I may have found my problem... quick mission generation was not included with the 2.0 Alpha. If you want to mess around with NTTR on your own you gotta do it through Mission Editor. Guess I gotta learn how to use that now :S

It's worth the trouble. If you just want to fly especially (so easy). Or add ai planes, let them follow you, fly formation, train against enemy plane which you don't give anything to shoot with :P

Took me a while but I got it and the map loads fine now :D Took me way longer to figure out how to get this thing working than it should have. I'm glad I got NTTR but I'll be even happier when I get a new graphics card and some moar RAM too. My system is struggling to run medium settings around downtown Vegas and high settings even out in the desert.

Ahh yeah.. If you have the possibility to upgrade then I'm sure you will not regret! Did some flying online and that's even better. Little bit of lag/stutters though but could be my connection.

I was wondering because I couldn't even get over 50k feet in FS9, where the F15's FDE is so messed up...


In other words, I got the SSD, but no cables yet so I have to order those now....

Ouch! :ouch: Have you checked you have a power cable left for your new ssd?
