[PC] DCS 1.5 & 2.0 Open Alpha

We'll get all you nuggets tank busting in no time.;)

I'm really busy (tests and papers) this week but I'll be down to teach a bunch of y'all too.

If you have Steam you can join the group, just so we can keep track of members.

I thought it was better not to because Steam ruins everything stable? :P

I don't run the game off Steam I just have the group open so we can organize stuff. Unless you download the game from Steam (which you can).

Oooh you mean I just add you as friends on Steam or?? I'm not familiar with this group thingy..

Yaaaay moar people! :D

Terminator and I just spent most of our time in that aerobatics server (weapons were all off) and it was just a great place to chill and try not to crash into things. I'd say that server is a great place to start 👍

btw if you want to add me I'm MonacoBMW on there, you can find me on that steam group.

So I take it that night ops through the canyons is out of the picture then?

If by that you mean peacefully floating through the rolling hills in weaponless TF51s while little village children play by the creek and all is merry, then yes. :)

I have added you guys on steam (streskip).

If you guys want to go shooting stuff, I haven't had time to learn how to use the weapons and haven't assigned anything but the buttons which control the plane. But I'll join when I can and see where this is going

The training missions will help a bit with that. Even if you can't remember all the steps like I can't it helps you get a bit more familiar with how things work in this game. Plus you get to blow 🤬 up :)

The training missions are not that obvious to me, I can get through taking off but then somehow I can't get the systems working. Like in the Su-24, everything is Russian so when they say 'look at this, this does that' I'm already lost. Some words in English are new to me so that's not helping either.

It would be better if I just knew what it is by looking at it so I know where to look. I tried to find a cockpit layout with words telling me what is what but without success. I can find many cockpit layouts but none learning me something. How have you guys learned all this?

I just remember key bindings for most of this stuff or jot down the most common ones. AFAIK you can control everything in the Su25T with just the keys. My hardest part is learning which weapon to use for each situation.

I like the game but I need the controller to work, because the key binding isn't as intuitive for flying and such.

For me is a daunting task, I got a PS4 controller working with a 360 controller emulation, I figured the JyB from 1 to 10, but then there is POV U,D,L,R, and then POV LD, LR, UR, UD and then I don't know what happened to the second joystick (since I used for camera control for War thunder I would like to make it work here too).

If someone has map it to a 360 controller I would appreciate a screenshot of the layout to guide me.

Try setting up a free flight and putting in the control while flying. I haven't tried setting up the controls with a console controller, but if the game detects the controller, button configuration should be easy. Just click the command under the controller column and press the button on the controller that you want to use.

SU-25T Keyboard Layout

I don't know how much this will help, but here are all the commands for the SU-25T.
Holy crap that's a lot of commands, reminds me of my days writing of white paper the commands for Flight Simulator 2004.

Thanks though, should come useful.

I did that but I didn't knew I could change the button layout on the fly, I'm gonna try that now see if I can map it.

I got all the buttons, is just the triggers and the right tumbstick that I can't figure out, here I'm hoping for it be mapeable.

Just wait till you get into a full fidelity aircraft.

The KA-50 has a fully clickable cockpit.
You can even set the windshield wiper speed.

Hey @terminator363 , that manual was really handy. I'm now halfway through reading it and I've learned a lot already. Haven't flown yet but can't wait to drop some bombs :)

Is the KA-50 the only one with a clickable cockpit?

Okay, is a hell of a lot like LOMAC, which is a really good thing.

I'm working my way around targeting systems, managed to get my first strafing runs using the Su-25T, and managed to map the DS4 to work with it, with a few keys to spare (which I will be using for locking systems).

Looking pretty damn good so far, loving it.
