Today my copy arrived and i played for a couple of hours. I drove with the BMW M3 E30 at Zolder, the Formula rookie at Brands Hatch and with the Audi R8 GT3 at Zolder. After a bit of tweak with the ffb and general settings i came to the conclusion : THIS IS THE BEST GAME I EVER PLAYED  :gtpflag:

Looking good, feeling good so far. Big learning curve from die hard GT fan.
really like in car blur view, looks more real.

Will take many weeks to really get settled in.

So many tracks to learn.

Ons komt ge overal tegen :)

I'm busy with my career now, and i must say I love the karting! They feel solid and twitchy and its fun throwing them around corners. There are some Mickey Mouse kart tracks which make me feel dizzy (left-right-left-right), but others are great fun. I even had a moment this morning when i was in 'the zone' on the Dubai track; where you are so concentrated that the auto pilot takes over from you, and all of a sudden you wake up realizing you didn't race those last laps consciously. Doesn't happen often but when it does it's quite special.

The tire model is great by the way, i was racing on a track that had rough asphalt with some cracks in it, and i could feel the difference in my wheel 👍

Question; i got invited to my first 3 hour endurance race now. Will it have working pit stops? I tried doing a pit stop in free practice yesterday but my car just drove down the pit lane without stopping each time so that got me worried.

I have never been a fanboy so I will continue to be honest here despite what I was hoping for. Now don't just read that line and fly off the handle which someone is most assuredly to do anyway. Honesty to them is a bad thing such as the one's who claim this is the best game ever. I think the game overall is quite good. I would give it an 8-8.5 No higher for many reasons though. Lot's and lot's of bugs. Control issues and random things popping up and disappearing in game. Sound issues in the menu, game and with cars sounding like grinding gears and wind noise. The RUF from the car pack is entirely un-drivable. Barely touch the throttle and it spins out. Only driven a handful of cars so far, but the Mercedes and RUF are two that have me coming away with disappointment. The game wasn't ready, but hopefully they can get it straightened out quick enough. I would really like to say this game is a 9.5 for me. It has such great potential.

At least in the career events I did the pit stops worked properly. I think that in free practice you can't pit.

Yes, it will. Pit stops are not possible in free practice or time trial, but they work fine in races.

Make sure you have the "request pit" button mapped and push it before going into the pits, which will then give you confirmation that they are ready for you. Pits should work in career, it does for me.

Ok so I can do my first career endurance race tonight then. Thanks gentlemen
Regarding the communication with the pits, i only had 1 race where Ben Collins was talking to me in all the others i didn't hear him at all nor did i see the text below. That's a known bug right?

Been hotlapping the Nordschleife again, this time on my rig, though - with the CSR and CS pedals. Very impressed! The physics, FFB and overall feel are excellent!

Ran the E30 DTM round the 'Ring a few times and was surprised how intuitiv it fehlt. Very much like I expect such a car to feel. Also, a great feeling for the weight and grip of the M3, none of the floatiness of Shift 2.

The performance is also commendable. My hardware is a little dated but I set everything to near max settings and it ran well enough, even at stock clock speeds. So well in fact that I'm going to push it a little further, especially in terms of AA. Don't need to mention the sound, I think. It's awesome.

First impressions.....apart from no mention of steering lag, the frantic scrabbling for usable settings across different devices is scarily playing out like Shift 2.

Has anyone noticed the more basic explanations e.g. spring rate, caster are carried over from that game. Looks like EA might not have meddled as much as they said, they just needed 3 years to get the driving physics right, then just polished the rest.

Sounds like the music got carried over a bit aswell, or just slightly tweaked. All I can hear is another attempt at epic gregorian choir style interspersed with echoey radio garble. You'll soon get pissed off by it.

Guys, there is enough room for both games. We as customers can only win if both titles learn from each other and improve where something is to be gained.

I think the troubling thing about GT was that KY really didn't seem to have any interest in "learning from other titles". The faults of GT - bad collision physics, no damage, poor AI, grinding gameplay - remained the same & the good things - great graphics/car modeling, huge number of cars - remained the same. GT6 was a huge game, but sacrificed quality for quantity. It was frustrating to see each version of GT after GT3 get bigger, without seriously addressing the fundamental shortcomings of the series.

I haven't played PCars, so I can't comment on whether it's successful, but in principle, I would prefer, at this stage, to see quantity (road cars) sacrificed, in order to achieve quality in the core aspects of a racing sim. At some point, either through DLC, or through future iterations of the game they could expand the range of cars.

Ok, that does make sense. However, I just remember the game "Racing Simulation 3" where you had all F1 Tracks just without names and the wrong country given. (German "Hockenheim" being in...yes Poland... :D)

Not necessarily a bug, sometimes there is just not much to say, you know. I m getting my Kimi on with that chatty dude regularily anyway... :D
i've had it where the subtitles appear but there's no voice. that's a bug?

Thats a public road. No need to license unless you want to use the Monaco name, as no one is holding the rights to the track itself. Unlike Suzuka, which is owned by Honda.

Learning something new everyday. I didn't realise that. Explains why it features in quite a lot of games.

one thing i learnt earlier is to not floor the throttle off the lights in a Formula A car if you want to drive in a straight line...
i also suffered my first missing front wheel after spinning out like an idiot. was great fun for a few seconds at least

Yep, thats a bug of course. It is known, but unfortunately rather random so far and therefor hard to repro. If you run across it several times in the same race, let us know (goes for all, of course).

will do. if they put in a 'disable subtitles' option we'd never know the difference *hint hint*

Just had no sound at all in the formula Rookie quali at Catalunya in career mode. Except... the engineer.
I exited and re-entered the event but it didn't change. Reboot the PS4 and then it's working again.
I had the silent engineer bug couple of time too.

Strange thing is that on that one race (i think it was the Dubai kart race), he was talking every lap, and absolutely zero times in the UK championship races (I have it set at 100% race length). So i'm guessing it's either a bug, or he only talks to you during certain races. Has anyone heard him talk to you during the national UK kart races?

True that. I was already doubting to put the music off, and that after just one day . It's racing game, not the dying hero scene from some bad Hollywood blockbuster.

Do you mean its just like shift 2 where its hard/impossible to get a good setting?
I played shift 1 and 2, and i havent bought project cars yet because im not wasting 70 euro on a very cool looking but uncontrollable game

So, is it anything like shift 2? or did they really make all the flaws in the shift games disappear
