What are the sales expectancies from SMS ? (maybe someone knows ?)

What are your sales expectancies ?

My 1st week predictions.

PS4 - 500k

XBO - 300k

PC - 200k

A bit conservative but I'll go with that.

Posted in the general chat but relevant here

Estimated PC Steam sales so far are around 85,000, and if that accounts for 10-15% of total sales as is typical for multiplatform releases, could be looking at 750,000+ sales already, and that's before the US launch.

To put that in perspective, Race Pro sold 17,000 copies worldwide in it's entire time on sale.

pCARS was sold out in both my local Tesco and ASDA stores. Seems like it has been a hot seller around here.

1m+ sales across all platforms in the 1st month

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-06-05-project-cars-overtakes-1m-sales

And if the sources cited in this thread on neogaf are correct, these are the sales per platform.

I wonder if Steam sales count on PC. If so, then it's most likely a disappointment. If not, I think that sales have already exceeded 1 million and might even be 2.

Chances are though if they can get another million sales they wont need to be funded 2nd time round.
I think they still need the PC platform because it's easier to mass develop and release betas to. Maybe if they could somehow shift the WMD model to PS4 then they wouldn't need PC but I don't see this happening. We'll see I guess.

Either way I hope these profits lead to a more varied selection of cars for the next release, maybe some US and Japanese vehicles next time round?

Awful awful sales for the game on PC...Theyd be better putting all their efforts into consoles for Pcars 2
The PC sales are very high for a racing simulator. IIRC Assetto Corsa sold around 200k units and is considered a stunning success as a racing simulator. Sales in this category will never compare with the big AAA titles, have to keep it in perspective. 150k units at $CDN60 would pay for the entire game development budget inside of a month after release.

Definitely need to keep PC support. I personally prefer PC games to any console and if the game was console only I would likely not have bought it.

Keep in mind that there are no other racing games to speak of on PS4 so the sales there are high. Lots of competition on the PC so sales are lower.

Seriously? that sounds a little crazy...

Not at all. As pointed out above I do not have a PS4 nor an XB1. I do have more than 1 PC that is capable of playing the game. PC games are almost always better than console games and of course the PC supports pretty much any kind of wheel or controller I what to use.

Buying a PS4 or XB1 just to play a game that will run better on the PC is a little crazy.

that's fair..i don't know about the rest...

This is the main difference of sales, total lack of competition on PS4 and way too much competition on an already niche market on PC.
Sales show why Assetto is coming to consoles, almost criminal to waste console sales now that the architecture is easy to develop for, PC exclusive sim racers should die in my opinion.
No they shouldn't. It's a different approach and they target a different audience. Things like Iracing and rFactor have no reasons to be console games. If you have enough money to waste you can enjoy the best of both worlds. That said I have absolutely nothing against SMS and Kunos porting their sims on consoles, they have very good reasons.

You mean about games being better on PC. That is a pretty well known fact actually. PCs always provide for more options. In the case of PCars it is more stable, better wheel support, may very well support user created content as is often the case with PC games.

I have been an avid PC user and developer for quite a while and in every case where a game is available on PC and console the PC is hands down the better game. Consoles have came a long way but the PC is still the king.

If GT and Forza were available on PC I would not own any consoles at all.

From what I've read. With windows 10 we just might get forza on pc and cross platform play. That would be awesome if it's true.

More money and players?

iRacing has a different way of making money of course, and rFactor also makes money off their Pro version. As the sales numbers of Project CARS show, the majority of their income comes from console, not from PC. This game would have never been possible/profitable if it was released on PC only. AC also has other sources of income than just the game (Pro sim usage).

Iracing is a paid service for online racing they need their servers to make it work. They can't trust console ones.

rFactor 1 was completely based on mods therefore almost inpossible to port them on consoles for copyright issues and content restrictions imposed by Sony/MS. rFactor 2 is no different even if ISI this time spent money on car track licenses their base content is simply not enough to compete against GT Forza. Not to mention physics limitations needed to make it run on console ruining the point of rFactor 2 completely.

Instead, Assetto Corsa and Project Cars can be full sims but they can also can be simcade because of their graphic and content, making them interesting to GT and Forza players.

they'd still make a lot of money from console subs (iRacing), and heck release rFactor as a 20-30$ title and it would still sell.

Yes but I think these developers prefer a "quality over quantity" approach. Their business model doesn't have the same numbers of GT / Forza but it's still good enough to make a living.

Another huge problem for full sims that can be only full sims like iRacing and rFactor 2 is hardware compatibility. Things like triple monitors, motion rigs, some steering wheels not working on consoles, you know.
