PD dont know trucks

WOW!! My neighbor has one of these in his garage! Its the six cylinder model. I´ve been wanting to buy it from him, but he is not giving it at all!!

We used to have two. One was sort of a junker we got some parts off of, the other was road worthy and we spent many an afternoon rumbling up and down hunting trails and other such places in the area.

Sadly the left rear axle snapped while my dad and I were driving and tore it up something fierce. After that, we came to conclusion that it would cost way to much to repair them. (there were many other problems and the body was like 80% rust anyhow) So away they went to the junkyard. :(

I miss that old Scout, that thing almost never got stuck in anything. :)

Most of the world dont share the love of the Ute or Pickup. Mostly its just America and Australia. In Europe we see racing car as something low to the ground and shaped for areodynamics. We see the pick up as a box on wheels used for carrying building materials around.

The trucks I think are there just to add a bit of a break and maybe keep some American or Australian people happy so that they can drive their own car in the game.

Frankly I think PD could Utilise its time better than rendering a whole new set of pickups for what I think is a Minor following?

If your picking out new cars that arent in the game, what about the new Focus RS for starters. It has much more of a motor sport pedigree than any pickup truck and its not in the game either. I could write a list of "Valid" cars that are not in the game and as I said I hope PD dont waste a buch of time making "trucks" for us.

Yeah, but they have a whole pile of fully rendered garbage already, why not trucks? At least they can go pretty fast.

To back up my claim of the garbage cars, Mitsubishi I-Meiv or whatever, Prius, fiat 500 f, Kubelwagen, Shwimwager (can't remember), etc...

Plus they have huge, heaping piles of useless standard cars as well in the same style. Honda element, Life, that old Citroen, Daihatsu Midget, subaru 360.

At least you can top 60mph with a truck. :)

For me, cars are cars. No matter if they are SUV´s, Trucks, or regular cars. I think PD has neglected Trucks in this game as well as SUV´s. I was excited in GT4 when we got the above mentioned models, and expected a stronger return of these type of vehicles in GT5. Unfortunatley, the trucks in GT5 only seem to be there as a last minute add on(like other standards), to make the game "bigger." For example, a Ram 1500 seems such a random choice, why not a newer version like a Cummins or the SRT/10? There are alot of trucks that would be cool to race or simply drive for fun in the game. Just to name a few:
Dodge Ram SRT/10
Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel
TRD Hylux V6 4.0
Silverado SS (the real version, not a concept)
Ford SVT lightning
Ford F350 Super Duty
Ford F150
Subaru Brat (why not?)
Toyota Tundra
Nissan Titan
Mitsubishi Raider (It was a nice truck while it lasted)
Holden Maloo
any FPV sport utility truck

Or what about SUV´s?
BMW X series
Mercedes Benz ML, G or GL class
Land Rover and Range Rovers (the real ones)
any Chevy Suburbans or Ford Explorers, or even the Excursion!
Ruf has a souped up Cayene, the Dakara
or Lamborghini! The Rambo Lambo LM002

And we could go on... But mainly, imagine if they were more of specific events for these vehicles, either on road or off road! Gran Turismo would be a blast!!

Remember the advertising hype?

Over 1000 cars.......

That right there should have been our clue it was to quantity over quality... :)

What about:

Some "real" truck racing...

You can't complain about a lack of trucks and then turn around and say something quirky like the Kübelwagen didn't deserve to be included.

I'm all for the inclusion of more/better trucks, but personally, I'm much more likely to spend time with the Kübelwagen; despite being mostly useless, I almost bought it before I had to return the rental. I really don't understand the appeal of sorta-fast "road trucks" like the ones currently in the game -- IMO, using a truck to drive quickly is like using a Fiat 500 to tow a yacht, or a Caterham for a demolition derby.

If GT5 featured "real" trucks and some kind of offroad/mudding/rockcrawling event befitting such vehicles, then they'd have my attention.

so your saying the only reason they would choose to model anything newer than 3yrs old is if it was in premium form? I'm not sure if i agree with that at all, I don't care if its premium or not.
I'm not 100% sure of this, but I don't think a single standard model is new. The "new" ones like the Bugatti Veyron came from GTPSP. So yes, any new/recent models would be premium.

They should have put in REAL trucks, like the ones racing in the FIA truck racing series.

Yes, if you're going to have a truck, then lets have these 👍

You kinda hit on the same point I was making. People sometimes like to try and race the car they drive IRL. This is probably why those "rubbish" cars are in there too.

Im not getting at Americans Or Truck lovers but in the same way Im not getting at Prius drivers or minivan lovers. I just think the reason they are in the game is because of the above reason.

In the same way as I dont want more trucks I dont want My first car A 1979 talbot horizon 1.5gl. Or my current car a Golf TDI. I much rather have new racing, GT or Touring cars if indeed we are to get more cars added to the game.

IMO (I guess we have to put IMO just in case you assumed I was giving you, your opinion) when they come out with GTFarmvile then they can look into better trucks. Until then if there is a limited amount of time and resources they need to concentrate on cars.

If you're talking to me, I didn't say it didn't deserve to be included. I was pointing out to the guy I was quoting that PD has already put the effort into doing premium modeling for vehicles that should probably have never even been near a race track.

I mean, we've already got a lot covered in terms of variety. F1, LM, FGT, Touring cars, NASCAR, Rally, street cars, Super cars, concept cars, Karts, "K" cars... But we've only got like four or five trucks. Maybe a couple more if you count the rally ones like the Pajero and... that other one.

The "truck" I miss most is the Chevy ElCamino. Like late 60's. And while there were at it they could add the Ford Ranchero so it had some competition.

Not you specifically, just a common attitude people have toward the car selection in GT games. You have a point, because like I told KooL_Breeze_88_, standard/premium is solely the distinction between "carryover" cars from GT4/GTPSP and new cars they spent time creating. If they add any more vehicles via DLC, you can bet they'll probably be premium.

couldn't believe my eyes when i saw they put the hemi quad cab in instead of the Ram Srt-10

Correction - they didnt "put the Hemi Quad Cab in", they just ported it over from GT4/PSP.

All the non-premium cars where in GT PSP, so they in fact did very little "extra" work for GT5. Hence, now new trucks - not only because PD don't "knew" trucks ;)

PD don't know trucks, and the OP don't know grammar.

:) I know my grammar at least most of the time. I think the purpose behind this thread was skewed and its my fault, rather than making this another lets all b*tch about what PD didnt do it would have been better to just ask other truck fans what they would have wanted for the sport pick-up class. My intention was never to rile up any of the European lorry haters that would rather drive the Subaru 360 or the Kubelwagon.

If you've ever seen what European roads are like, you'd understand why they hate lorries. ;)

A Syclone would have been nice.

1991GMCSyclone.jpg

[WIKIPEDIA]At the time it was introduced, the Syclone was the quickest stock pickup truck being produced in the world. Auto magazines compared its acceleration favorably to a variety of sports cars including the Corvette and - in a memorable comparison test in Car and Driver magazine - a Ferrari. Featuring a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, all wheel drive, and 4 wheel anti-lock brakes, the specifications had more in common with a Porsche than most other pickup trucks.

Both the Syclone and Typhoon (SyTy) trucks featured a Mitsubishi TD06-17C 8 cm² turbocharger[1] and Garrett water/air intercooler attached to a 4.3 L LB4 V6 engine with unique pistons, main caps, head gaskets, intake manifolds, fuel system, exhaust manifolds, and a 48mm twin bore throttle body from the 5.7 L GM Small-Block engine. All SyTy's had a 700R4 (4L60) 4-speed automatic transmission. A Borg Warner all wheel drive transfer case split torque with 35% forward and 65% to the rear wheels.[1] Both trucks featured sport modifications to the standard suspensions. The Syclone was the first production truck to receive a 4 wheel anti-lock braking system. Output was 280 hp (209 kW) and 350 lb·ft (475 N·m).[1] The Syclone, when new, was capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and could do a quarter-mile run in 13.4 seconds at 98 mph (158 km/h).Car & Driver tested the Syclone and it ran 0-30 in 1.3 seconds with a 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, the 1/4 mile was 13.06.[/WIKIPEDIA]

It would have been fun to have some off-road challenges with trucks like the Ford SVT F-150 Raptor.

I would hoever like the new trucks people are mentioning and for them to not look like dog feces, lets face it the Dodge Laramie looks bad, straight up bad.

Yes I am.
Kaz Said it himself, that if he were to model any new cars they would all come in the form of a premium car. A truck that came out in 2009 can only be moddelled premium, as a 'new' car because it came out after gran turismo 4, so they would make it a premium for GT5. There are few exceptions. For example, Some of the cars in GTPSP were made standards even though few of them were from 2009 or 2010- These cars happen to look notably better then the ones from GT4.

If you want new trucks then just wait till they make a premium one, you cant care if its premium or not because they only model in premium now. If you think the trucks look bad just blame standards looking sub-par. However, thats not for me, I dont like complaining, because it doesn't get you anywhere.

Thanks for the correction the only other GT i've ever played is no.1, I didn't know
