In all this I see two different paths taken by Turn 10 and PD. In PD's persuit of perfection they keep pushing back the release date until they feel they have a perfect game.

It seems like Turn 10 on the other hand is going to release what they have and add content as they go. I wouldn't be surprised if Forza had close to the same amount of cars by the time GT comes out.

My question is would you rather have an imperfect GT and have dlc updates or wait until the PS4 and a perfect GT5?

PS4???

I say release now and update, i dont care.. i want it...

I doubt we should be thinking about PS4 after the Slim has just come out...

Perfect?

I'm sorry but polyphony do not deserve all the flattery of being called "perfectionists"

GT 5 is so far away from being perfect.

Basically the ONLY area I would consider them "perfectionists" is in the area of graphics. That's it.

I see what you're trying to do. But yeah, I actually would prefer to wait and have a lot of content shipped with the game than get the game quickly and have to pay for "extra" content.

And we're not going to be waiting until the PS4 comes out, either.

It doesn't matter if it's Forza or GT 5. There is gonna be TONS of DLC.

I'm at the point where if they said "We can ship the game right now with only 500 cars, is that what you want? You'll have the option to get more as DLC at a late date"

I would say HELL YEAH and I bet 98% of everyone else would too.

I also think that PD & Kaz are "Graphics Perfectionists" only.
For me it looks like they always push the console and their tools to it's limits in terms of graphics & presentation (slick cars, a lot of polygons) but they put the game (and the fun !!!) as a second priority or even worse.
GT5 looks like it 10 times graphically better than any other game but it doesn't have what all other game have - good & fun game features (AI, damage, online).

For me, I just hope that the rest of the unfinished 35% of the game is only features and not even 1% will be "wasted" on more graphics - what we see now is more than enough in that level.
And if the game will be released with "only" 500 cars - then release it, it's good enough as well.

Just played the forza 3 demo and to be fair its a big improvement on the last, Drives and sounds pretty nice. But..... Gt5 will still smash it to peices. ive got high hopes..

I dont think its about perfection, its about finishing the game! There is loads of stuff PD hasnt even implemented yet and its going to take them till at least March to deliver a game which equals Forza 3 on features such as online and community features (we already know GT5 excels in certain other areas).

The reason why PD hasnt shown all that much of GT5 over the past year was not because they were holding stuff back, its because there wasnt anything to show! The damage shown at Gamescom was likely to be the damage stage which PD are at at the moment!

By giving themselves extra time we will get a more complete game, one which will have all the features of other racing games out there plus all the stuff that GT does best!

As for all this talk about GT6 and PS4's, firstly there are always 2 GT's in each consoles life cycle so if there is one it will be on PS3 and secondly GT5 has taken so much time to do its likely it will just be updated rather than having another full release.

Robin.

Hopefully the remaining 35% of developement will be in the sounds/physics/damage area.and not modelling the last 300 cars.

Do not post opinion as if it were fact, you have not played GT5 and as such are not in a position to make such a claim in a factual manner. All it will do is start a flame war and I have seen you involved in too many of those recently.

At no point have PD ever pushed back the launch date. The March 2010 date is the first we have ever been given.

The PS4 won't be out for many years. I'd go as far as saying around 2015 at the earliest. It will be many times more powerful than the PS3 and GT5 would have to be redeveloped from the ground up to look like a PS4 game, otherwise you'd just moan it's a revamped PS3 game.

Who in their right mind is gonna seriously agree to wait until 2015. Silly, silly question IMO.

No game will ever be perfect. Release teh game now, or soon and fix stuff later based on user feedback. I dont care if GT5 becomes GT5 Spec 167, I just want to play the damn game!

PD do an as good a job as they can. Maybe therefore they could be perfectionists? They try to make it as perfect as they can. So they do deserve it IMO. If anyone is a perfectionist in the gaming industry, it's Kazunori. And Hideo Kojima. :)

I don't know of SIM's past involvement in any flame wars, but I see very little wrong with his post. He said "Basically the ONLY area I would consider them "perfectionists" is in the area of graphics." How is that stating something as fact? In most posts you'll see people state their own opinions as fact anyway to make themselves sound more forthright.

Agreed. You don't have to agree with what he said, but there's nothing wrong with criticism.

I like to think of PD as chefs.

One thing they always say to chefs is, "If you're going to make someone wait a bit longer for their food, make sure it is outstanding and all will be forgotten"

It's getting to the point now where another few months isn't going to make that much difference to us (we're still here aren't we?) whereas those few extra months for PD could be the icing on the cake.*

*I'm a glass half full sort of guy!

Complete game > mess of DLC that might or might not download on first try. > Neverending development trying to add features that will be obsolete by the time it's in stores.

Fixed.

But seriously, some DLC, as long as it doesn't amount to 50% of the game, is fine.

Clearly.

Do you not think that waiting in a restaurant for several hours for your meal might make you get up and leave though, to continue with your analogy?

Obviously i'm not speaking literally, and I'm sure I will pick up GT5 when it comes out, but I had been looking forward to it as a christmas present. Now i'll happily confide in SuperCar Challenge until it comes out and maybe even F1 2010, as it is likely to be out in Europe now before GT5.

I think Scaff was referring to the part where Simple SIM said "GT5 is nowhere near perfect". Since GT5 is not even out, giving an opinion about the game is unfactual.

If GT5 has many Bucks and we would get a half backed game how would u cry then??
No, I can wait 6 month for a buck free game. There are too many unfinished games this days!
