Permanent Borrow Glitch Trading Thread

i'd guess the quickest way would be to have 2 ps3's and have one with full patches installed then one with some form of CFW installed so u can just install the copy save file patch (1.6?) that way i guess all u'd need to do was just borrow a car on 1.10. save game to usb, move to 1.6 CFW ps3, load game up, change car and save game, move it back to the 1.10 ps3 and so on and so forth. just at the end of it u'd have to format you cfw ps3 and re-install the full sony fw doing it that way u could speed up teh process to 5 min a car.

You are sure that you can do the "jump from borrowed car to random car and keep the borrowed car" move works on patch 1.06 or whenever the save to USB problem is fixed?

I think it wouldn't matter what version of the patches it runs as long as it is before they put in the borrow car feature. I'm not sure what update that was though.

Does the borrow function existed before patch 1.07? I don`t remember..

I think it was the second patch that included the option to move save game and i think it was 1.9 or 1.10 that brought in borrowed cars.

If i move my save from one ps3 with my dlc on it and move it over to a ps3 without the dlc on it then the cars just disappear and i get them all zero miles, zero modded when i load save back up on my ps3. I would assume that if u move save to a ps3 without the borrow car patch then it would act same as deleting the game data. just change cars and save game on 1.6 patch then when u move it to the fully patched ps3 it should react same way and the borrowed car is yours. Your still starting a game on a mahcine without the game data of borrowing cars, its just saving you a lot of time

if i coul dbe really arsed i'd do it on my 2 ps3's but i cant be doing with the hassle of just backing up all saves, formatting ps3, installing KMEAW, trading cars n then reformatting ps3 again. i only have a few cars i need to move so probs easier to do it this way lol

Did a quick search and found the following...

Update 1.05 introduced game save copying.
Update 1.06 introduced car sharing.

So I guess the trick for dual PS3 mode would be to have Update 1.05 installed.
Then that would eliminate having to update the little bit on the second PS3.

MY PS3 runs off WiFi so downloads are slow.

Why would you have to format your PS3?

to install a custom firmware so u could just install the patches you need. then after you'd done you'd need to reformat it to install official firmware.

I was thinking of deleting teh game dtaa and letting it install upto patch 2 and turning teh ps3 off. would that keep teh patches downloaded/intsalled or would it just start agin?

oh n yeah i have mine plugged into router so its only 30mins to download patches, mayeb not even that. i live in a good area with almsot constant 17mbps

I've just tried stopping the install of patches when they get so far through and it wont allow game to load game. comes up with an error saying needs 32mb more HD space so there goes the idea of quick n easy method with 2 PS3's by looks of it

That is it's own glitch not related to this.
Use google and search for it.

how you reckon this will get patched tho? Only allow to loan one car a day? way PD are going they're gonna pee a lot of folk off, u'd have thought they would have realised by now that we're pretty narked that they already restricted game, any more restrictions are gonna end up causing a real backlash

If you think about backup and restore it doesn`t work because the restore destroys/overwrites your "glitched" savegame on the PS3...

I`m curious what you can tell...

Here's another side note - It WILL delete your replays and photos.

I really wish the creator of this thread would put this in the faq.
I've said it I don't know how many times on here.

You will NOT lose your pictures and replays if you do this...
Go to your replays and pictures in the game.
Press TRIANGLE on each one. [Pictures you can do all at once, not sure about replays.]
Then press 'Export to Save Data' or 'Export to 'Export to XMB Photo Menu'

Then your replays and pictures are their own file on your PS3.
You can leave them there or back them up.

After you are done with this glitch, when you go back into the photo and replay section, there is something in there that you press and it will bring your stuff back into the game.

Why wouldn't you just wait to buy them after you went back to 1.10?
No days are going to pass.
You should just follow this procedure step by step as stated in the OP and you won't have any issues.

Thank you for putting that up. I'm not sure when I'll be able to do the glitch again today, I've got to head out in a couple minutes.

I only have one PS3 so I have to play the waiting game.
I'm going to see if my buddy wants to come down with his PS3 in a couple days and then try the dual PS3 trick.

Here's a step by step walk thru.
First, save any photos or replays to "XMB" if you want to keep them
Make a back up of your game file, just to be safe.

1. Start GT5
2. Borrow any car from a friend
3. Quit GT5
4. Select from XMB "Game Data Utility" (6 spaces up)
5. Press "triangle" on GT5 file to open options
6. Select "delete"
7. Select "yes" and wait for ps3 to do its thing
8. Press "O" to return to XMB
9. Start GT5
10. Deny "latest update" by pressing "O" (u will see "creating system files" screen & game start-up vid)
11. Press "X" to start game
12. Select GT mode
13. Open your garage
14. Select any other car in your inventory
15. Quit GT5 again
16. Restart GT5 again
17. Install "latest updates" and wait for all 6 downloads. (if you want other cars, go back to step 1 after this)
18. Load all other GT5 data as prompted
19. You're done

If you want to get more than one car from your friends, skip step 18 and return to step two.
If you follow this guide step by step, all you will loose is custom tracks (way around this one, time consuming) & some thumbnails (easy fix).
I also lost a great car in the deal, the "EDGE" special RIP
Another user lost everything but what he had borrowed (alleged)
