0-60 in 1.8? - How many G must that pull?!
I'm from europe as you can tell and I'm a big racing fan but you can never see stuff like Pikes Peak on tv. It's not international at all.
Every Gran Turismo fan knows about it because of the car in the various GT games but other than it's really hard to find coverage for it. Now that Peugeot is in it's a bit more covered in france but in switzerland there's nothing on it.
In fact if you take out GT games I've never heard or read an article about Pikes Peak in europe.
That surprises me. As many motorsports are covered and loved by Europe, little on Pikes Peak? Odd... What about Japan?
Pikes Peak really isn't that well known, its known within motorsports but its rarely (ever?) featured on TV. I guarantee you that many people will have only heard of it thanks to Gran Turismo!
I doubt the Japanese get any coverage, I hear they don't get great coverage of wider motorsports to begin with.
The main reason a lot of motorsports are covered in Europe is because a lot of them take place in Europe. There are a lot of popular domestic series and there are a lot of international events in Europe, but don't confuse that with us getting coverage of everything. Its just we get more because there is more local interest.
True, considering the FIA and FIM are based in Europe. I did assume that you get more coverage just due to more general interest, probably a lot of it nationalism. Does Europe have dedicated racing networks?
No serious testing today, just some advertising and a little bit of work on the actual setup. Only some fast run.
Serious work will begin tomorrow if the weather is not too bad.
Sorry for my bad english.
Second test day for the 208 in some wet conditions.
Still some work to do on the car.
Peugeot Sport chose Mont Ventoux, one of the most legendary stages of the famous Tour de France cycle race, as the setting for its final full-scale dress rehearsal in France before its fast-approaching journey to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. The barren mountain in the south of France provided a valuable foretaste of the conditions Sébastien Loeb and his Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak will face in Colorado, USA, on June 30. True, the road, which climbs to the peak of Mont Ventoux, does not reach the same sort of altitudes as Pikes Peak, but its characteristics make it an ideal venue for the continuing development and fine-tuning of the powerful 875hp beast
The power did all the talking at dawn this morning at Pikes Peak when Sébastien Loeb and Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak took advantage of the first official practice session to get their inaugural taste of the celebrated American hill climb. The day’s result was extremely promising, to say the least…
The main purpose of the second test was to validate the findings from the first test one week ago and to work on tyre choice as well as other smaller set-up items. All of this with the aim to make the monstrous Peugeot as easy to drive as possible.
A car like this is actually never what you would call easy to drive, but thats what makes it so thrilling, said Loeb at the end of the test. In the end though, we discovered some really useful things. I never had a chance to drive the whole mountain before just sections of it so the work we did on Friday, when we could go from the very bottom all the way to the top, was a really good taste of what was to come. And we had four potential tyre compounds to choose from, so we evaluated them all and selected the compound that we thought would suit the conditions best.
