It might I start watching racing in the 90's because before we hardly had any television at home. So yeah I missed some of the 80's stuff. But since 20 year there isnt much covering of Pike peaks.

I'm from europe as you can tell and I'm a big racing fan but you can never see stuff like Pikes Peak on tv. It's not international at all.
Every Gran Turismo fan knows about it because of the car in the various GT games but other than it's really hard to find coverage for it. Now that Peugeot is in it's a bit more covered in france but in switzerland there's nothing on it.
In fact if you take out GT games I've never heard or read an article about Pikes Peak in europe.

That surprises me. As many motorsports are covered and loved by Europe, little on Pikes Peak? Odd... What about Japan?

Pikes Peak really isn't that well known, its known within motorsports but its rarely (ever?) featured on TV. I guarantee you that many people will have only heard of it thanks to Gran Turismo!
I doubt the Japanese get any coverage, I hear they don't get great coverage of wider motorsports to begin with.

The main reason a lot of motorsports are covered in Europe is because a lot of them take place in Europe. There are a lot of popular domestic series and there are a lot of international events in Europe, but don't confuse that with us getting coverage of everything. Its just we get more because there is more local interest.

True, considering the FIA and FIM are based in Europe. I did assume that you get more coverage just due to more general interest, probably a lot of it nationalism. Does Europe have dedicated racing networks?

There is Motors TV, but other than that no. All series appear over a variety of channels, for example in the UK;
BBC - F1, MotoGP
ITV - BTCC (+support races), F4, WRC, Isle of Man TT, British Superbikes
Channel 4 - British F3, British GT (+support races), British Rallycross
Eurosport - ERC, WTCC, FR3.5, AutoGP, Le Mans, World Superbikes, British Superbikes
Sky Sports - F1, GP2, GP3, Porsche Supercup
ESPN - Indycar, NASCAR
Motors TV - everything else either live or in highlights.

And also bear in mind that some of those like Eurosport and ESPN will regularly fail to show races live as other events take priority (like football or cycling). ESPN is the least accessible of all the channels, requiring a TV license, a satellite/cable TV package and an extra subscription just for ESPN. This combined with the late race times makes Indycar the lowest viewed motorsport and presumably NASCAR is not far off that.

So, even the biggest US motorsport series are barely shown at all and are pretty inaccessible. It's no surprise that Pikes Peak doesn't even get mentioned although it wouldn't be totally crazy for Motors TV to show it.

Looks so epic!

No serious testing today, just some advertising and a little bit of work on the actual setup. Only some fast run.

Serious work will begin tomorrow if the weather is not too bad.

Sorry for my bad english.

Ah okay. All goods my man.

What a beast of a sound it makes!

This should be good Loeb against Millen and Dumas and regulars that are pretty quick too. Only sad part is I don't think Monster Tajima or Rod Millen will be racing unlimited class this year or any other gasoline(petrol) class, I think they're doing full electric. However, I think the point is overall victory for Peugeot so they'll still be fighting them in the end. Loeb vs Millens, Tajima and Dumas makes for an epic Pikes peak.

Second test day for the 208 in some wet conditions.

Still some work to do on the car.

Now that's quality!

MONT VENTOUX IN ‘PIKES PEAK’ MODE

Peugeot Sport chose Mont Ventoux, one of the most legendary stages of the famous Tour de France cycle race, as the setting for its final full-scale dress rehearsal in France before its fast-approaching journey to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. The barren mountain in the south of France provided a valuable foretaste of the conditions Sébastien Loeb and his Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak will face in Colorado, USA, on June 30. True, the road, which climbs to the peak of Mont Ventoux, does not reach the same sort of altitudes as Pikes Peak, but its characteristics make it an ideal venue for the continuing development and fine-tuning of the powerful 875hp beast

The power did all the talking at dawn this morning at Pikes Peak when Sébastien Loeb and Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak took advantage of the first official practice session to get their inaugural taste of the celebrated American hill climb. The day’s result was extremely promising, to say the least…

Ready to take on Pikes Peak (tests 2 / 14-16 June)

The main purpose of the second test was to validate the findings from the first test one week ago – and to work on tyre choice as well as other smaller set-up items. All of this with the aim to make the monstrous Peugeot as easy to drive as possible.

“A car like this is actually never what you would call easy to drive, but that’s what makes it so thrilling,” said Loeb at the end of the test. “In the end though, we discovered some really useful things. I never had a chance to drive the whole mountain before – just sections of it – so the work we did on Friday, when we could go from the very bottom all the way to the top, was a really good taste of what was to come. And we had four potential tyre compounds to choose from, so we evaluated them all and selected the compound that we thought would suit the conditions best.”

That Camaro in the background looks a lot like the LM version from GT3-5.
