A few pics of the B-24s my grandfather flew. My Dad and Uncle could never get the story straight on whether my grandfather flew bombs or cargo with themselves or each other. Turns out, he flew electronic warfare equipment.

This Drostesque photograph of three gentleman taking a photograph of themselves is often posted online as an example of, if you'll pardon the horrible word, "selfies before selfies were popular". An example of Older Than They Think.

It was actually taken at the 1904 National Eisteddfod, the Welsh cultural festival, in Rhyl, Denbighshire. The fate of the photograph the three men are taking is not known.

There's something quite beautiful about that photo. I can't put my finger on it, but it's there in heaps.

Also, it appears to be 4 gentlemen unless the furthest most has a really long arm.

Partisan forces in the center of my town (Kranj) after German forces started retreating from Yugoslavia to Austria.
The building on the left is a school from 1810. I went to this same school from 2010 to 2014

The city itself is built on a hill where two rivers meet.

Not sure what year that image is from, but nowadays it's overgrown with bushes and the neat looking stairs are no longer usable. The entrance at the bottom leads to a WWII era shelter. Nowadays it's used every year for a wine-tasting event as well as boring tours where you learn about history instead of wine. Lame. :sly:

That is a water tower that's still in use. The fields are now all covered with houses.

The oldest house in our town. I don't remember the exact number, but it's over 500 years old. It was built as a tollhouse. It's now a bar and looks a bit better than in that picture. Only a bit though.

IBI textile factory. It's about a minute's walk away from my house. The place is now available for rent and several small businesses have sprung up including a microbrewery.

Sorry about the slight thread hijacking and making this post all about my town. :embarrassed:

Pepsi Concorde

Concorde was painted in anti-flash white by all four of its operators due to the extreme temperatures its skin would experience at supersonic speeds. The exception to this was this brief 1996 promotional agreement by Air France and Pepsi. The use of blue paint meant that this aircraft flew with restrictions; the aircraft was not allowed to maintain mach 2 for more than twenty minutes and the wings had to remain white.

Is the guy in the first picture a wizard?
I wondered what that stick was too. Maybe back then it was a thing to carry a small stick with you.

Or maybe he's an actual wizard and the strong wind we see was caused by his wand.

Maybe he was under a magical influence...like...alcohol.
