Chop:

It was done for a competition over at autemo.com, so it's a little rushed to meet the deadline.

All the bodywork is brushed, as well as the interior. Click on the chop to see the higher resolution image. Oh and if you can't tell, it's matte paint colour ;)

ah, Klaus, very VERY good!! I think this is by far your best job (of the ones you've showed here at least) so far. The interior and reflectiions in the glass are pretty much spot on, even more so considering it was all hand-made. The glass looks like it's polycarbonate for the lack of mounting areas (the black surfaces under the glass that every car sports nowadays), and the bodywork is pretty real, too. My only gripe is that the rear wheel looks slightly off position, and that the headlamps are really damn big, but other than that, really good. The reflection of the intercooler on the flat paint is very, VERY well achieved.

hot, dude. I'd try off bigger wheels.

Oh wow... I haven't been around here in like years!!!
Well I do miss the regulars around here, and going back through the old post there hasn't been a lot of activities in those 2 years when I was gone huh? (My last post was around page 375 and my last chop was on 370 which I never manage to complete :guilty:)

But looking at all the newer chops made me realize how crappy my chop looks now in comparison! Ah yes, I miss the good old days of this thread...

I also miss those days. Here in GTPlanet is where I started doing and learning what practically buys my food these days. I have a lot more to thank GTP than most people just because of that mere fact.

I also miss the weekly competitions, but sadly I think that if they were run again, I wouldn't have the time to enter... at least not all of them.

Thanks man, I got a few tips of a fellow chopper for brushing the matte paint. For the reflection of the intercooler I basically just copied the intercooler, moved it into position and added some gaussian blur. Works like a treat :D

I was such an idiot back then, goodness me .
Not your not, well at least not as an idiot as Glanza-V or Sakiale...

Well if the competition were to be done, I think only 2-3 people clearly are the winners here. Suzq044, Tom Servo and probably Jay. Oh good lord, looking back at the old Artistic comp thread reading my old comments I feel like such an idiot! (well technically I still am but not as obvious :P)

I remember the debate people had over the stuff I did, because apparently drawing a car from photoshop didn't count as a "photoshopped" car.

I remember Suzq's chops from back in the day, though I dont remember the ones made by Servo nor Jay... I supose that was back then when I was away for a long time from GTP. Want to give it a try? I might find some time to entera few of them, and I'm pretty good at it... I mean, I live off that stuff, haha

I guess we all could, my holidays is in a few weeks time so I hope I could make some time dedicated to PS lol. But yeah, I haven't chopped anything years now, and I'm not sure if I could chop as good as I did last time. :guilty:

Fill the main part of the car with a midrange colour colour. I've filled it in with black then reduced the opacity. This way I can manipulate the colour quicker and more effectively.

if you organize something, I'll try to make Rue and Glacius enter... both were some of the top choppers back when the PSC was running full-on, Glac is still chopping, I'm sure Rue hasn't touched photoshop to chop a car in years but he'll give it a try.

but you know, it might have to be a monthly competition as I doubt any of us would have the time to enter a weekly of even bi-weekly one. If you organize something, I'm in (:

Hey guys, I'm completely new to this forum. Some of the stuff posted on here is awesome, Klaus your stuff is crazy. You should really do some youtube tutorials on that.
I'm a programmer and I really struggle with creativity, so I can never create original things like this. On the other hand, I love photoshop and illustrator stuff, so I end up tracing things. Here is a Lotus Elise that I 100% illustrated, and I was wondering if you could give me feedback on it. I detail how I do it at this link here: http://www.lukerice.com/blog/lotus-illustration-walkthrough/

Thanks in advance!

I think the "smudge" in the paint makes it look really weird, it could do without the plastic wrap filter. Other than that, cool technique!

Here's another from me. Probably my last for a few months as I'm back at school.

I cut and pasted a lot more on this one than usual.

Aaah very good bud, the hand made hardtop with all the reflections is absolutely insane, all of it is pretty spot on. My only gripe with this is that the Domo-kun looks obviously put in there, it would need to be darker and more out of focus to really blend in, and that, as usual, your rear wheel is off, it should show way less... be more vertical than what you have now. It's off perspective. Other than that, awesome!

Edit: I just noticed the side pipes, haha... neat!

and I was wondering if you could give me feedback on it.

It's a personal gripe, take it however way you like:

I don't like it. I never understand why these sorts of styles are so popular. What is it I don't like specifically? The lack of relativity between the subject matter and the graphics.

The graphics are just graphics and the car is just the car. The way I'm percieving it, all I'm seeing is a car.......... with added graphics.

I want to see a stronger, more closer relationship between the 2 things. Let the car become a graphic, or let the graphic become the car. Interpret that any way you can, the subjectivity allows creativity.

After seeing sl3ight's amazing photoshop of the new Impreza into a STi, I decided to have a go. Comments on my work and how to improve would be greatly welcome. This is probably my first full chop.

Thanks for looking.

wow, I just looked at this thread for the first time and saw the first page and thought "man, these are really bad photoshop jobs..." then i realized they were posted in 2002 0.o

its cool to see the difference in quality of the work done now as compared to 2002

I am starting to get a little bit addicted to photoshoping cars. My latest, a 2012 Beetle.

The Jeep is interesting, it still needs to look more violent, with more off-road stuff to make up for the pre-runner image, but it’s well underway.

Its not really supposed to be a pre-runner; more of a rock-crawler. Pre-running is Rams realm. lol

I designed it as a "from mopar" modification.

Good to see you again, btw Cano :P

Then it needs to be even more hardcore.

And I’m here everyday! You’re the one that disappears! But indeed, nice to see you again (:

Ha Ha I thought the exact same thing lmao
