Point to point Road's for GT5

I realy hope GT5 has more roads to drive, like the ones the Top Gear lads looked for.

Col De Turini is a famous mountain top in the south of France and is part of a 32 km rally stage starting from Sospel to La Bollène. It is the highest point in the stage standing at 1607 metres. This stretch of road is one of the most difficult and dangerous but also exciting stages in the WRC. It has the long straights where cars reach upto 180 km/h, 34 challenging hairpins and awesome views - all the things that make for one of the best driving roads in the world.

San Bernardino Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2065 meters in the Swiss Alps connecting the towns of Hinterrhein and Misox. This road has its share of bends and hairpins but is more known for its scenic views and smooth roads. It also has a 6.6 km long tunnel but with a speed limit of 80km/h (50mph).

This is something I've wanted in GT for quite a while too, some realistic (don't even have to be real) point-to-points, especially to benefit the rally modes the previous games have had - roads that are narrow, with hedges, walls, armcos, bumps, tunnels etc. They'd make fantastic rally stages, and great for just playing around with new cars. I imagine combined with a photo mode you could get some great rallying shots or "magazine test" shots.

Ideally though they'd have to make the stages quite long - at least as long as a lap of the Nurburgring, to give you time to really get into them. If necessary, sections could then be used for different purposes (say, if a shorter rally stage was required, or a section of road needed for a licence test).

I definitely agree with you though. Of all the possible things I can think of beyond the obvious extra cars, some realistic road stages would be next on my list.

Yeah, i would love to see some point to point races, it would be great for setting up challenges via the forum for touge racing.

Well yes that's the other thing I hadn't thought of actually, touge. I wonder, as it's becoming a big thing now, whether PD will consider it, given that they've now got a mode for drifting and also given a nod towards drag racing?

-> I will be delighted if point-to-point races is included in GT5. I would like to drive an S2000 in Mt. Haruna (aka. Mt. Akina in Initial D).

I second that.

Initial D racing every night!

I would also want a huge free roam city where people could meet around and cruise around in your car  unlikely but I dont car :dopey:

^ Actually I like to see all Kaido Battle, Battle Gear, Initial D and Wangan Midnight's Hakone tracks:

^ The last and only point-to-point track that GT had was Pike's Peak in GT2. :(

There is only one point to point road I really want in GT5......

PIKES PEAK HILL CLIMB!

Oh and I agree on pikes peak. I would also love to see some point to point races, long ones.

I definitely agree with the touge courses from the Initial D
PD should actually release one of those in a 'Spec IV' or at least in the finished version of GT5.

Better yet the C1 and Hakone from WMMT3!

Yes the Initial D.

Shuichi's AE86 has been in the games so lets bring it to the home track!

Initial D special cars anyone?

EDIT: screw it give us D1 cars!

Not sure about Initial D stuff... but how about the road Best Motoring is using for touge battles? I mean the Tog Gear track is confirmed, so why not Best Motoring as well?

Those Japanese roads nearer the top look great fun. There are a few roads in the UK that'd be great fun too, the Buttertubs Pass in Yorkshire, the road across The Mountain in the Isle of Man, any number of ones in the Black Mountains in Wales etc.

Not sure how many of you guys are out on the West coast, but a scenic point to point would AWSOME.

If anyone has ever driven over the hoover dam there are some long curves with great views of the dam/lake, going into some agressive S's before crossing the curving dam, followed by several sharp S's, straits, and sweeps. I've never driven it without thinking MAN this would be fun in a racing game like GT.

I always preferred point to point races, since the first need for speed game, I find circuits boring by comparison. I hope there will be many of these courses in gt5.

It just popped up in my mind that there is a GREAT point to point road in my dear neighbour country, Norway! It's called Trollstigen (The Troll Ladder in english).

(The fun begins after about 2:53)

-Ortega Highway
-Glendora Ridge Road
-San Gabriel Canyon Road
-Mulholland Drive
-Tassel Motorway
-Topanga Canyon Boulevard
-Decker Canyon Road
-Banning-Idylwild Panoramic
-Rim of the World Highway

Only one of those I've been on is Mullholland Drive. It'd make quite a good point-to-point course in GT. If we're talking the rest of Cali, the best bit of road I've ever driven on was the Cabrillo Highway section of Route 1 (Pacific Coast Hwy) from just North of Cambria, through Big Sur and ending at Monterey. In particular, I always remember this sign (I didn't take this photo, but this is the exact sign I remember):

I remember thinking "coooool, this'll be fun..."

There's a section of road just North of San Francisco that's great fun too, this bit, the "Shoreline Highway":

Probably not as crazy as the ones mentioned (Trollstigen looks insane Patrik!!) but being an aussie I have to mention the great ocean road in Victoria. Obviously you couldnt put the whole thing in (roughly 300km) but If I remember correctly the drive from Lorne to Apollo Bay and just north of Lorne are particularly impressive. The rugged coast-line and rainforest are very beautiful, maybe some local guys who've driven it more than me (twice) could ellaborate on the best parts for driving.

^^ couldn't really find a pic that shows how high and close to the cliff you get, this is the best I could find, spot the road on the top right

The road is also home to many scenic spots such as the 12 apostles and london bridge but I dont think many are in the best driving part

Adelaide hills has lots of great winding roads, so good infact cars from around the world come to compete and cruise in the Adelaide classic rally (Targa style), it is even now a official recognized event of Ferrari. 👍

Another good point to point race is the "Transsyberia rally'' the name for the intercontinental rally from Moscow to the Mongolian Capital of Ulan Bator a race with about 7,200km.

A pic of a Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia Edition '07

The 2007 Transsbyeria Rally was one of the most demanding off-road race, some of them as long as seven hours, crossing fast-flowing rivers, steep mountains and the desolate wastes of the Gobi desert.

I think is a nice challenge!

I've been hoping for p-t-p races for a long time. I hope some are included. I don't have any roads to add that have not already been mentioned. I'd even take some fake roads. And yes, bring back the Pikes Peak Hill Climb!
