Point to point Road's for GT5

Stevio Pass was clearly and deservedly the winner of the Top Gear's most beautiful driving roads competition of last year.

My absolute dreamer would be, of course, as being a true GT car and track lover, the panultimate track of all times being ...

the Mille Miglia
, but as the starting and finishing point of this race is in the same town (Brescia/Italy) it's not really a point-to-point road.

:)

I'll be doing this one summer very soon

A few of you mentioned Hakone. Well, I've just been to the Hakone region of Japan, and the roads there are just amazing, absolutely to die for. Plus every single taxi driver was a drifter in a past life. A Nissan Cedric has never seemed so fast.

But I'm all for some of these beautiful Japanese passes to be in GT5. In fact, I can think of nothing better than hooning a Yaris down a mountain...

IMO, point to point races are a MUST for GT5. They need to bring back some dirt and throw some hill climbs in their. This game engine is far too good to become just another cut and dry road course racing simulator. They need to mix it up a lot(but not overdo anything).

that would make Gran Turismo and "actual" "real Driving" simulator... operative word: Driving as opposed to "racing".

I'm surprised that not a lot of you are asking for this one...I'd take this over Initial D anyday!

(And before you mention, GT's Asian demographic as a reason the fictional anime track might get a nod over this awesome piece of tarmac, keep in mind that I am Asian).

Point-to-point racing? Two words: MILLE MIGLIA! (best with original 50's scenery)

No, but seriously, it's nice to dream, but at the detail that PD are putting into this, I would rather they concentrate on the rest of the game than putting a huge effort into endless road-scenery that you pass by exactly once in a race. 1km of road stays approximately the same effort no matter what kind of track, so when you create a p-2-p race for only 10 minutes runtime, this is about the same effort as 5 average other tracks. So what would you rather have? One p-2-p race or 5 additional tracks instead? I would say the latter...

Those Japanese roads nearer the top look great fun. There are a few roads in the UK that'd be great fun too, the Buttertubs Pass in Yorkshire, the road across The Mountain in the Isle of Man, any number of ones in the Black Mountains in Wales etc.

what about snake pass in the uk

better yet, have the map of the world with every single road like TDU. then you can actually drive to the track or race any where u like.

-> I like the highly treacherous road known as the Philippines Kennon Road:

-> Here's my route that I provided on the other thread at Race Track Wish List:

Kennon Road

:scared:

YES! If GT5 is to have 1 point-to-point stage, it MUST be Tail of the Dragon!! Definitely!
Also some WRC S.S. on tarmac would be cool....

Probably not as crazy as the ones mentioned (Trollstigen looks insane Patrik!!) but being an aussie I have to mention the great ocean road in Victoria. Obviously you couldnt put the whole thing in (roughly 300km) but If I remember correctly the drive from Lorne to Apollo Bay and just north of Lorne are particularly impressive. The rugged coast-line and rainforest are very beautiful, maybe some local guys who've driven it more than me (twice) could ellaborate on the best parts for driving.

^^ couldn't really find a pic that shows how high and close to the cliff you get, this is the best I could find, spot the road on the top right

The road is also home to many scenic spots such as the 12 apostles and london bridge but I dont think many are in the best driving part

Ahh yes the great ocean road i've navigated it many times (not far from home). The section between Angelsea and Lorne is very popular. The best thing about it the speed limit, although near impossible in alot of sections up until a couple of years ago was 100kmh (now 80 i think) due to many motorcyclists coming to grief.
I can remember pulling into Lorne many a time in my old skyline for a cup of coffee before the return trip with the smell of hot engine and even hotter brakes wafting into my nostrils. Oh the memories fun times.

Give me a copy of GT5 with a Lamborghini Miura, a road in the italian alps, Matt Munro singing out the sophisticated tune of 'On Days Like These' and I'll be a happy bunny.......

till I drive into a Caterpillar in a darkened tunnel. :nervous:

Have to drag this old thread up to post this.. :) ..as I really would love to see some point to point rally stages in GT5 :) And I want them to be narrow, not the wiiiide one's that the rally tracks always have been with gt. Just like this :sly: :

Lol This is becoming a wish list. Lemme add mines:
THE NEVADA STATE CLASSIC road race, and CHAPMANS PEAK in Cape Town( where Richard Hammond drove the Merc SLR on its launch)

Yes, a few real rally stages would be nice, instead of circuits.

This would be great fun, and add new races to the game. They could also have rallying licences 💡

If GT5 has a lot of races like these (rally stages), I think that DIRT 2 is going to have a lot have a lot of competition specially since both games are going to cost the same and GT still offers road racing as well.

That layout of tail of dragon looks amazing!! Really hope for a track like this, long and TWISTY! Too bad i dont think it gonna happen :(

Very good video Timo  Some narrow wrc tracks whould be really cool :) Its not rally too me if its not point too point!

bah.. all we need is every WRC track.

Yes.

The rally stages is what makes GT for me. You have the mix of standard racing, endurance and rally.

Give me some dirt and an impreza and i will smile.

For now Eiger Nordwand will do.

I'd like the Pikes Peak run and the whole section of the Cole de Turini (that spaghetti road you always see in magazines).
A few hill climbs in an old MG or Austin would be cool too.

Those Isle of Man roads that Jeremy, Richard and James took the Aston V8, BMW M6 and Porche 911 on to see who could do it fastest. I loved that episode.
