It's a nice flush of content and I am happy that the urge to grind has been quelled. However, custom races still have AI cars pulling over to let you past and their lines are still wonky on many of the tracks. Ecstatic that the pay out for custom races has been increased but they could still use a little love from PD in terms of how they function.

It's a big improvement but definitely still room for further improvement in many aspects. Heading in the right direction though, and I was a big fan already.

My main complaint is roulette tickets as reward. The weekly rewards are effectively 100k/200k/100k. Why is the last reward worse than the second reward?

Why can I get stuck with a ceramic brake upgrade worth 10k for completing a license tier?

e: 4/5 for me to clarify. Very solid update, just the above reward weirdness and lack of VR UI tweaks that are needed

I like all of the newly added cars and the weekly challenges are kinda fun, but it’s not enough to get me to play regularly again. For the past several months I’ve hopped on for maybe 2 hours a month post update to buy the new cars, upgrade and tune them and finish the new races etc. and this update is basically the same but will take me probably 4-5 hours to do all that. I’ll probably come back a bit more often to do the weekly challenges to keep my bank up for future car purchases/tuning, but we’re talking an hour or so a week to do that.

Good update as far as content goes, but not enough to get me back into the game 10-20 hours a week again.

I'm enjoying the update. As I play on the PS4, I'm not getting the full benefit, but it doesn't feel worthy to be Spec 2.

Yes I really like, its a great update and more importantly has brought me back to the game. I still want more activities though. I want a reason for having a super licence (maybe the Master, but I'd be OK if that wasn't included).

I want an Endurance Missions set:
  1. 2h Super Formula at Fuji
  2. Group 4 race at Interlagos (4h ish)
  3. Bathurst 1000 (about 6hrs)
  4. Suzuka 1000 (about 10hrs)
  5. Spa 24h (Group 3s?)
  6. Daytona 24h (Group 2's maybe)
  7. Nurburgring 24h (non racing cars)
  8. Le Mans 24h (Group 1 - with my personal preference of no VGTs)

I waffled between giving it a 3 or 4.... I landed on 4 because I'm feeling generous today...

I was considering giving it a 3 because the race payouts should have NEVER been a problem in the 1st place. They shouldn't have tried to screw us over from launch day. I find it difficult to pat them on the back for doing what they should have done from the beginning...

The update went a long way to rebuilding their goodwill with the fanbase.

A lot of good new stuff. Excellent update.
Ofc there are still issues that need to be improved, but you can't have everything in one update.

This update hits most of the marks but misses a few key ones to me. Like the post above, removing the invite system would've made it higher scoring, as would the ability to sell tuning parts and a quick-change car option for GT Auto and the Tuning Shop.

If they'd done those 3 things on top of all else it would've scored easily a 5/5 for me, but hey, a 4/5 is still a very nice score and it's still a very nice update with some much-needed features and QoL improvements.

I don't really understand why engines and parts even have roulette tickets now that we can just buy them outright. Sure, they could allow us to sell them, but also why not just convert those tickets to basic 6 star tickets... It's a minor quibble for me though.
If you're not at level 50 then you can't buy them so having them in the tickets is a still a way to get them if you're level 1-49.

True. Although if you could get credits faster it would take less time to get to 50! :D

For me it was a missed opportunity. We won’t get another big update anytime soon and the extra races are not enough to wash my disappointment with Sophy 2.0.

When I saw the trailer and that Sophy would be able to drive 90% of the cars I was overjoyed. Then I realised it was only on 9 tracks. I thought, I can make it work. I’m sure some of my favourite tracks will make it (and some did). But then I saw it was only for quick races. No custom races. Once again I thought I could make it work. Just let me select the group of cars the AI will use, and tyres and fuel options. When I saw we could only do 3 lap races, no tyre wear, no fuel consumption, and that you can’t even do a full grid of super formula cars I was very disappointed. And then I realised Sophy is slow and races are chase the rabbit only. It really is disappointing.

Add to this that I don’t really car for the new cars all that much, I hate the new track and I don’t get a kick of new licenses. Also, the weekly events are just old events for most part. I hope this won’t always be the case.

I was hoping for some QoL improvements on cameras to make the cockpit cam a better option, a new UI since this is old af now, more variety in online races like Forza, even better ffb and physics, 20 car grids online, more custom races options to select mandatory tyres and pit stops.

It’s encouraging to see they did such a massive update, but when you take everything into consideration, was that enough for 18 months? I don’t think think it was. I was hoping for a leap forward and for me it was just a small step forward.

The only changes I would ask now are very minor.

Let us CHOOSE between grid and conga line starts for all races with chili and mission race being the exception.

Add more mission races ( fill out the empty two slots)

Add in a special events section with championships OR let us make custom championships in custom race.

Allow us to select the tire compound of AI opponents in custom race and mandatory pit stops .

Fix the Endurance race rubber banding .

Literally there is no reason to complain when custom races pay so well now .

Looking back on it, now that we have Spec II, at launch day there were 14 things that griped me the most, some which I was more vocal about than other ones. 6 of them have been fixed, 1 of them has had a band-aid solution, and 7 left unfixed/unchanged.

Fixed:
  • Buyable engine swaps/special tuning parts
  • Split-screen multiplayer
  • Car Selling
  • Custom Race/Arcade race payouts
  • Lack of specific cars - old Charger, new Challenger, C8 Corvette, and Porsche 959 respectively
  • Event directory

Band-aid:
  • Race shop**

**I would've preferred it just to be like in GT6 where you can buy any compatible part directly from car settings screen.

Unfixed/Unchanged:
  • Invite system
  • Removing default livery of a car when repainting it
  • Lack of change car option in GT Auto and Tuning Shop
  • Not auto-equipping dirt (and now snow too) tires if driving on those tracks
  • Having to deal with LCD/UCD (e.g. lack of all cars in brand central)
  • Lack of payment and music for SP time trial
  • Inability to sell tuning parts/engines

TL;DR The game is getting better slowly, but surely.

Sorry for the poo, take it as a "respectfully disagree". I just can't understand how we can be unable to think outside of the boxes created by PD. Just change your "Missions" suggestion for "Races" and see why it would be a better option.

I voted 3, just because rubber banding is still here, especially in the custom race mode which is where the game continues for solo players when everything else is completed.

4/5 for me.

So im a mix player who does both single player and multiplayer. I spend on average about 6 hours a week playing GT so this update has been pretty solid for me. For streamers and content creators (the ones who have moaned the loudest I think) I can understand why they think this update is average/poor.

For me single player mode has been neglected for a long time. This I feel has rejuvenated single player for me a little bit.

Positives.
Weekly Challenges - for me this is something the game was missing badly. It’s good to have a refresh of races. Also I’ve this weeks races really enjoyable. Seen a few comments saying “well you can just use what ever car so it pointless“. While this is true, I’ve used cars that have similar PP and I’ve really enjoyed them.
Licence Centre - good to have new challenges and to add 50 new challenges is great as it gives some content. Will take me a few weeks to complete all these I suspect.
Cars - 7 cars was good. But the pick of the bunch Porsche 911 992 GT3 RS. What a car that is. Feels amazing to drive on the wheel, and the grip is great. Best road I’ve driven on the game. LFA is also a great addition too.
Track - Like that they given us a rally track. Gives the game a bit more variety, and I’ve actually had fun chucking the the pickups round there and did a Group B mulitplayer race.
Sophy - so far I’ve enjoyed Sophy. Not the hardest of AI to beat, but still it challenging. It’s good to have AI that are always thinking ahead of you and you have to the no about overtakes. Hopefully PD develop this more over the next year

Negatives and Neutral
Cars - yes had some positives cars added but it’s missing 2 races cars. I think 2/7 races cars would have been great.
Missions - the game is missing some more mission, especially endurance races. I want some 2/3 hours missions, and even 6/12/24 missions.
Sports Mode - sports mode needs a refresh too like single player did, but single player was needed more in my opinion. Sports mode needs to shake up their Daily races. Add 1 lap quali to Daily C. Add a Daily D that an endurance, runs every hour.
DR/SR - honestly I don’t care about seeing DR/SR updates. For me I’m happy with what we got. People now been able to see the loss and gains after races, I feel will just cause people to be more aggressive in the next races to try and gain that loss back.
Photo mode - so I don’t use photo mode much, and as a keen photographer who used programs like lightroom, the interface is too difficult to navigate I think. For me it’s missing some basic editing function. The new feature added was an ok feature.
Dashboard - nice feature to have but not something I’m that excited about really.
Replay Mode - did we need a loop mode?
Not sure if I missed anything, but if I did then it’s obviously not that important to me.

The game is still way off from been finished/complete but I’m just hoping this spec 2 starts to focus more on the PS5 side of the game and we start seeing more improvements.

I think they would mean more if they were missions rather than races. I’ve had all the GT games, I know how they work and how other racing games work. But personally I think they’re better as missions. The payout in GT5 for Le Mans (the final race in the series) was only €800,000 so winning it again for the cash doesn’t make sense…

Ok, let's do this:

The new Track
Pro: New tracks are always welcome, snow is a nice variety and it looks good.
Con: Driving there immediately breaks immersion because the windscreen stays absolutely clean although there are 15 cars driving in front of you.

Sophy
Pro: A better AI is exactly what the game needed and it's an interesting experiment.
Con: Very limited in what in can do and only works in quick races on 9 tracks.

Higher payout for quick & custom races
Pro: Better than before because of the bonus
Con: Still rather low even with full bonus

Weekly Challenges
Good payout/prices & makes you do races that you probably wouldn't do otherwise.

Seven new cars
Good selection and variety

New license tests
Nice to have although it's not something I really care about much.

New races/events
Pro: More variety is always welcome
Con: Payouts across all races are still unbalanced

New engine swaps
Pro: More variety and possibilities
Con: Looks like the swaps become more unrealistic

Overall I'd say the update is a 3.5 for me. But since I like the new cars and especially the weekly challenges and it's a rather comprehensive update I will round it up to 4.

It's not about cash but about replayability and accessibility.

In missions, opponent list is set, weather is set, and difficulty is set.
Then, you may enjoy your race because of your skills and AI's pace in missions, but I think you can understand that not everyone can reach that same level and chilling at the same time. Race lenght for endurances is its own mission for some people.

I LOVE endurance racing, but I'm nowhere near to be able to win the Maggiore one as an example.

You are more than capable of winning that one, it's just a really challenging one.

I don't play much SP stuff now but that was tricky and I don't think I've done it.

At the end of the day regardless of how good bad the AI it's trying to replicate racing with real people.

There is a whole skill based mode to this game that lets you race Sophy 3.0 or humans as I call them.

It is hard for the first few but as you improve you'll reap a lot of satisfaction from the human races over AI. You won't win as much but that's not the point of racing. It's to compete with your peers.
