As a solo player update its amazing. 9.5/10.

As a GT Sport player update there is almost nothing outside of changing the the SR rating meter I think so....1/10.

I dont really turn the game on for solo player and am not the biggest car collector but it's a killer update for a lot of people so can't really complain.

4.5 out of 5 for me overall its a great update and my reason for the 4.5 out 5 is no garage limit increase.:(
Most people won't ever reach that limit, unless they're a billionaire like yourself. ...So I can realistically see why that wasn't changed.

I voted 4 out of 5 because it's definitely above the "average" update but still far away from excellent (for me).
It would have been a better update with endurance races (>1h) and a perfect update with the stuff we got + endurance races + b spec mode.

It now maintains your TC settings....

So yeah. We didn't get much :(

As mainly a singleplayer guy, I think it's ok, but nothing really amazing. This is the sort of update we were getting every other month for GT Sport. I guess the GT7 updates so far have been so poor that this seems incredible to some. Definitely not worthy of the "Spec II" moniker.

It's not about cash but about replayability and accessibility.

In missions, opponent list is set, weather is set, and difficulty is set.
Then, you may enjoy your race because of your skills and AI's pace in missions, but I think you can understand that not everyone can reach that same level and chilling at the same time. Race lenght for endurances is its own mission for some people.

I LOVE endurance racing, but I'm nowhere near to be able to win the Maggiore one as an example.
Good points... but I still think missions is the best place for them :)

4/5, really good to have some more single player content, particularly the master licenses and weekly races, but I wish PD would devote some resources to fixing the issues they must know about such as custom races AI tyres.

I put a 5/5 as it added the 2 QOL features I wanted the most, Gr.2 races and much better custom race payouts, now doing a 1-2 hour custom race with a clean bonus actually is not only fun but now I have a reason to do more of them now.

Need more time to make sure it does get boring. Sophy races are a fun distraction, weekly races are a nice bonus for single player, and the dashboard and event menu trigger my OCD to complete it.

I’m having fun with the game again rather than looking for other sims, and spending more time at it as well improving, initially a 4. But again, time will tell.

In isolation, it's a very good update and it adds some features that will make coming back more interesting, the weekly event challenges could keep it interesting. For PS5 players I'm sure the Sophy races will be will be decent. The added chilli races are good too and there are some QoL features like the Event Directory that improve the game as well.

There are still glaring falws with the game that were alreay present, but this update definitely improves the game and personally, it's the best update to date as far as I'm concerned. I hope that they can keep adding Chilli Races and more single player content as well as making the improvements the guys who race online want.

It’s a good update because content-wise it resembles the meaty updates GT Sport used to get every so often. Let’s hope this wasn’t the last update of 2023, because something tells me it could be.

My favourite change may be the completion counter added to World Circuits. It represents a motivational structure beyond the short-lived Menu Books, and the new weekly incentives are nice as well. To be honest I don’t think there’s enough to justify the Spec II label, especially as PS4 players don’t get access to Sophy.

Speaking for myself it was a mostly bad update.

  • Sport mode is what I mostly care about and it's clear PD got scared by the backlash from the existing players during GT Sport and doesn't want to invest in multiplayer anymore, aside from the championship stuff. There's so much they could do to expand it, but they won't even fix the current issues and bugs.
  • I have little interest in more follow-the-rabbit events with bad AI, I was pretty much bored of that stuff by GT3. And while Sophy is exciting, PD's introduction of Sophy into Quick Races is hampered by using the same old boost/handicap system to limit Sophy's performance. Still, it's better than the current AI. I just wish it utilized more tracks and more tracks I like.
  • I have zero interest in rally tracks (and I think that's true for most GT players) as long as GT's rally physics and general rally presentation remain abysmal, so the Lake was a big miss no matter how pretty it looks.
  • The cars were pretty good, but PD is still massively lagging behind on getting newer models out. Especially on the racing side of things.

Some people here try to defend the addition of events as being increased payouts, and that's why they think it was a good update. But for me the entire system is flawed. The game I want to play is not grinding for cars, but racing all manner of cars in the ways that I want. Cars I'll probably never get to own or drive in real life. Back in the '90s when I was a young pup and had tons of free time, grinding for cars in GT wasn't too terrible. But nowadays I can see how fleeting time and life is, and I don't want to spend hours and hours of that time grinding braindead events for digital cars just so I can drive them. I'm honestly surprised that more of the aging GT fanbase hasn't come to the same conclusion and rejected the grind. GT Sport was a breath of fresh air, giving us a car per day for a few laps. This allowed us to save our money for the more expensive ones. It wasn't perfect, but it was certainly better than GT7 where the grind is worse than ever. It's a big reason why I play GT7 much less than I did Sport.

Anyway that's just how I feel. I don't need a million replies telling me I'm wrong and that the grindfest is actually fun. I know I'm in the minority here.

I went with excellent. I’m not a sport mode guy - i actually prefer the lobbies on the rare occasions i dabble online so whatever bugs and what have you in sport mode don’t really concern me (I feel for you guys who are into it though, hopefully PD will have you on the next big update!)

I’m not really into the track all that much, the new cars are great though - but it’s actually the little things that made it an excellent update for me. The event directory is veeeeery handy, and the new quick race feature that incentivises actually bothering to do the circuit experiences is genius. I’ll admit I have been lacking when it comes to those, but i’ve done loads of them over the weekend now and had a great time, and it’s now made quick races actually worth doing (at least from a financial standpoint). Yeah i know the AI is still pretty bad against tuned up cars, but using stock cars with cheap tyres the bots can still give you a challenge on hard. Well, that goes for me, a casual player, at least. I did blast through the weekly challenge fairly easily though, so maybe that could’ve been a bit more of an actual challenge, lol!

I’m still on PS4 so no comment on Sophy from me. But everyone feeling negative about it just remember, it’s brand new technology so it’ll take time and a few more updates to really prove out (or not)

The update was amazing added so much big quality of life improvments, weakly challanges are so good to, add value to go back and play more offen, it has a lot more content that the normal update offers car selection is super to and they nailed many of sounds for the new cars, the new snowtrack is cool some more stuff could be made like more endurance races and championchips other than that its fantastic,, by far the best update yet,

I voted 4/5. Overall, it was a very solid update. Seven new cars, a new track, Sophy, Master licenses, and a lot of new events (some of which cycle). I've actually had some fun playing 1P lately which isn't something I could say for a very long time.

All that being said...... I had hoped for a road course, some updated GT3 cars, and some QoL features of Sport Mode. None of those things happened.

I am enjoying the update and not complaining by what we got, but had PD asked me, some things would've been different is all.

I think their is good chance we get an update for chrismas to, not as big for overall content i belive, maybe some things will be showcased at world series event soon, their some speculation that december update could include 12 cars, the dashboard before the update dropped showed 500 cars and we have 488 currently

I actually kind of doubt we'll see a holiday update since we just got Spec II. of course, I do hope I'm wrong. Spec II is a great update, but, there still so much more potential to be had with GT7. :)

For me, it's a 4. It has breathed a new sense of life into the game with some useful QoL improvements such as grouping the 'career mode' races into a quick access screen and the Extra Fine rendering for screenshots seems to add extra pizazz to motion shots.

However, the snow track is fun but not essential to the experience, whereas some of the classic GT tracks we all love and miss might have meant more to the community. There's still glaring omissions from the engine swap system that make perfect sense, but are overlooked for stupid flights of fantasy such as the Chiron engine being made available for the Viper and Vette et al.

Yeah i did read that in another thread. That would be cool if they did a 12 days of Christmas gimmick type thing.

And you know, hopefully once the car count is up to a nice round number like 500 they’ll have a rest from working on adding new cars for a time and instead work on sorting out some more of the gameplay issues people are having. But that might just be me being naively optimistic!

Great update but the game won't be complete without a robust track creator. Hopefully PS5 only so it can be as good as possible on console hardware.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it sucks. It might not have been the best addition, but it has at least added more variety.
Variety is not always a good thing in my book, but PD does indeed seem to like variety at all costs.

This game is all over the place, like if TikTok was a racing game it would be this, but people seem to like that, so maybe I’m just an old clueless fart.

This is another thing I’ve never understood. Why do people want a track creator? Isn’t it better if PD just adds more tracks?

Yes i agree but i think they fix a lot of main issues with spec ll update,

4/5 A very solid update with some nice features. Now I need B-Spec, proper endurance races and championships and seven race cars.

This would not be as big of an issue if they would add the ability to change liveries for custom races. We can then sell duplicate race cars.

They should add the bonus to the world circuit races as well. If we're level 50 and have completed all circuit experiences, we have definitely put in our time and earned the bonus. This is why it's a 4/5 for me.

Sophy is a big improvement, because now we have AI that drives more natural and isn't set to follow the same paths as normal AI and it's more dynamic. Remember quick races is meant to be easy because if it wasn't we probably would not even pass a single Sophy car, especially if they're in faster cars. I don't mind that sophy lifts in straights for this very reason.

I really enjoyed it, racing against Sophy is great, although I can't wait for the track roster to be expanded. I don't find the difficulty of Sophy a problem, as I'm happy de-tuning my car to make it a fun race.

The cars added are a pleasant surprise in terms of the variety and types, really enjoying them. The QoL changes are great.

The only reason I gave it a 4/5 is because the weekly races highlight the poor OG AI drivers compared to Sophy and the length of races against Sophy are too short. Would love the option to have a 10 lap race at least, preferably more - even if fuel and weather are a no-go at this stage.
