I think if she ran the DNC probably doesn't have an establishment candidate that could beat her. Hillary had the advantage of name recognition and really coasted on the older vote that remembered her in the 90s, The DNC doesn't really have anyone else that could take her on apart from maybe Joe Biden.

Didn't Biden say he was done after this? I recall him saying so after the passing of his son.

Biden's 74, I doubt he's going to throw his hat into the ring for 2020. Even then, IIRC he turned down an offer to run for the 2016 campaign after his son died last year.

"Trump's charitable foundation has apparently admitted to the IRS that it has violated the legal prohibition against "self-dealing" which bars non-profit leaders from using their charity's money to help themselves, their businesses, or their families"

Trump Foundation admits to violating ban on self-dealing

Do you think Trump will pardon himself, or will he order the IRS to waive any penalty?;)

Hasn't he already paid the fine and gone onto bigger problems?

The DNC doesn't really have anyone because they spent the last entire election cycle clearing the table because it was Hilary's turn. I don't doubt they can dig up another Obama between now and 2020.

Possible but I don't think it will go as planned for them, establishment democrats are too far detached from what the people are looking for.

He seems to be retreating to his pre election position of being a moderate Democrat, whilst filling his cabinet with lunatic right wingers.

In other words I think he is going to be the face of leadership whilst not really being it, like W Bush.

I do feel like he's becoming president just to add something flashy-looking to his CV.

It's almost cathartic to see Trump stop being a brash, cavalier independent and instantly becoming a typical lying politician no different to anyone else who says anything to get elected. It's even more cathartic to see it even before he's been sworn in.

Not that I'm aware.

It was my understanding that the info was from the tax filing of the Trump Foundation's 2015 tax returns which were probably filed sometime in the last month, so this tax violation was just reported. Normally, the IRS imposes a tax penalty and makes the self-dealing person repay the monies.

Its my understanding that if the self-dealings cover more than one year (which seems to be the case), the IRS sometimes pursues a fraud case.

I am pleased to announce the posting date of the new election thread that will cover the 2018 Midterms. Provided that everything goes smoothly with my PC repair, I should have a date of Valentines Day 2017 as the planned posting date of the thread.

This is tremendous. The best. YYYUUUUUUUUUGE news.

Could the electoral college hand the presidency to Clinton on December 19th. Yes. But H.A.Goodman gives it no more than 1% chance.

I've read that the 1 thing that would absolutely keep Clinton from winning in that scenario is that even if all the pieces come together to overturn Trump's victory by the Electoral College, the Republicans still control everything thus, they would just vote in another Republican in Trump's place.

Has there been any images of Clinton post election. I've still yet to see her show up after losing. It's like she went back to the mirror world she appeared from

Trump is getting old. I dont think he is using the presidency to add to his credentials, I think he believes in some of his points as doing good, others he doesn't care about and will just let others do what they like. Realistically he has got maybe 15 or 20 good years left and thats not a lot of time when your old time passes quickly. I think his heart is in it to a degree but I am also skeptical of his apointees perhaps be appoints them to give his voters a false sense of security.

Didn't Jill Stein crowdfund a campaign to have a recount in several states on the grounds that their voting machines had been banned in other states because they are vulnerable to tampering?

Indeed.

It's all to the good; if evidence of tampering is found then naturally that's important. If no evidence of tampering is found then that puts to bed the ideas that some people have about parts of the election being fundamentally dishonest.

I find it odd that being a faithless elector isn't a federal crime. Just on principle it should not be allowed. At the very least, faithless pledges should be discounted.
