It's a shame that CNN is so horribly sensationalist and just plain awful in reporting, but it seems that they are at least dangling in between MSNBC and Fox. And it's another shame that we don't have Fox here. That makes it a lot funnier for me to compare the 3.

So as it turns out the "Oh I would certainly do that. Absolutely." was in answer to a completely different question. Considering the source, that surprises me not at all.

MSNBC. It amuses me that people who would ridicule the use of Fox as a source will cite MSNBC.
It should be interesting to note that to even be able to get into the country legally, you have to get into a database of some kind anyways. By saying that there should be a database to track Muslims, what Trump is really saying is that immigration law needs to be enforced.

According to a Rand Paul interview (Link here), 40% of all illegal immigration (11 million as of post time) is visa overstays. Also considering the fact that according to the White House, (Link by way of New Republic) that there are as many as 256,000 workers that were affected by changes to the H-1B worker visas done in 2014.

What Trump is right on is that there is an immigration problem. The issue is when Clinton cheerleaders like MSNBC is trying to create a gotcha moment out of a simple statement that he would enforce the laws that are already on the books.

Fair enough, my mistake :D

I hadn't really heard of MSNBC, I thought they were Microsoft owned (via the MSN) until I checked otherwise. You got me :)

We can be more specific now; he wants a database for "the Syrian refugees that Obama is going to let in". That sounds more like a normal Trump rather than the silent-but-deadly Trump.

There dosent need to be a database for the Syrian refugees as he speaks about it because there already is one. Once they get in they are given IDs just as everyone else. They are in the system.

"...The UNHCR refers people to countries based on whether they have any family members there and where resettlement makes the most sense, say U.S. officials. If that's the U.S., then refugees are vetted by the National Counterterrorism Center, the FBI's Terrorist Screening Center, and the Departments of State, Defense and Homeland Security. Fingerprints are taken, biographical information is collected. They are then each individually interviewed by U.S. officials trained to verify that they're bona fide refugees..."

Bit of post bump but this:

I would like to thank everyone who has posted in this thread in the last 24 hours for reminding me why I hate politics and listening to people discuss it. Name calling, insults, and ad hominem attacks in both directions. These were all directed at the candidates, but the amount of negativity here is a reflection of our political system today.

It says something when you agree with someone but refuse to say so because you don't want to be associated with the individual.
You think this only happens on US? Its pretty much human nature, sadly.

In case anyone still doubts that CNN is a left leaning shill for the Democrats:

The video below aired on CNN and is selectively edited to appear as if this Trump said this:
Reporter: Should there be a database system that tracks Muslims who are in this country?

Trump: There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases. We should have a lot of systems, and today you can do it.

Reporter: Is that something your White House would like to implement?

Donald Trump: I would certainly implement that. Absolutely.

What was actually said in the unedited video posted earlier in this thread was this:

Reporter: Should there be a database system that tracks Muslims who are in this country?

Trump: There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases. We should have a lot of systems, and today you can do it. But right now we need to have a border, we have to have strength, we have to have a wall, and we cannot let what’s happening to this country happen any longer.

Reporter: Is that something your White House would like to implement?

Donald Trump: I would certainly implement that. Absolutely.

Reminds me of when NBC purposely edited the 911 recordings in the Trayvon Martin case to make it appear as of George Zimmerman spontaneously mentioned that Martin was black, when the original 911 tape clearly showed that he identified Martin as black only because he was asked to describe him by the 911 operator, something NBC conveniently edited out because it didn't fit their narrative of, "racist kills innocent black boy".

So am I the only one who doesn't see his denial that he wants the database? He simply incorporates it and moves on.

As I already posted; he does want a database of Syrian refugees "that Obama's going to let in" , that's for sure. Little difference, I think.

There's no doubt that exchange was edited to make Trump look worse, but I'm not sure that in and of itself makes CNN a "left-leaning shill for the Democrats" considering that the establishment Republican party is less than thrilled with Trump as well.

Not that overall I don't think there's something to what you say, though.

CNN leans toward democrats only if they carry the establishment torch. No one outside of their in party gets any love with CNN nor do they with MSNBC. It's why both networks are doing so terribly in the ratings. Actual progressives get their news from the Internet not those establishment talking point factories.

I could say the same thing with FOX and the way that they keep booking Karl Rove all the time. He is the head of a Super-PAC, he has no business being on FOX bashing the tea party as a guest when he could do the same in a 30 second spot.

Karl Rove isn't a news reader, he's a political commentator and there are no illusions when it comes to his allegiances. There's no misdirection as to why he is there and no expectation of impartiality.

Why do you think he is constantly on their Election night coverage? I never said that he was a news reader, but he (along with the RNC) orchestrated the hit job that all but ruined Megan Kelly's reputation in the eyes of most conservatives (I've stopped watching her long before that, but for a different reason) [Note: It was the RNC's questions during the FOX debate, but it was Rove's analysis afterwards].

I personally don't expect impartiality, especially from that hack, but a bit of disclosure would be nice.

You posted the same story (albeit with an NY Post link) on the previous page. Are you Hillary? :embarrassed: :D
I apologize for posting the same story more than once. Yes, it is embarrassing, but perhaps there are worse things.

I am not Hillary, but I am very close to her age. There seems little alternative to aging - other than death, and I'm not quite ready to die. There are things that I do to try to counter the effects of aging, such as sleep, exercise, nutrition, and socializing. This forum is one of the things I do to stay in touch with current events and the thinking of younger people worldwide. Do you think I'm too old, or suffer from dementia? Should I quit the forum? Maybe you would like to keep me around to make fun of, tease and make funny impressions of me, like Mr Trump does to the disabled?

Let me know what you think. When your turn comes to deal with aging and memory loss in your parents and in yourself, I hope you'll enjoy it just as much as I do. My mother is 91, and still driving.

This is my favourite Race To The White House. Ever.
I quite like Trump's response on Twitter:
The failing @nytimes should be focused on good reporting and the papers financial survival and not with constant hits on Donald Trump!
He does not seem to notice - much less appreciate - the irony of this statement; given his behaviour, reporting on his latest public embarrassment seems like good reporting and its continued practice should secure the paper's financial survival.

In his defence Trump claims that he doesn't remember the reporter... a guy who reported on him for 6 years.

It was a friendly dig, no offence intended. Leave the forum? Not on my say-so, I hope.

It appears that there has been a horrible mis-communication and Trump's strategists have somehow managed to imitate the Russian Air Force in devising his campaign: go in hard, go in fast, take it too far and get shot down, then make angry noises about it.

IMO it's pretty clear that the Donald is trolling at this point. I don't think these slips ups like the recent one about the reporter are accidents on his part. I think he's deliberately throwing out the flamebait, hoping the liberal media will leap on it, all the while having his explanation at the ready to escape the fishhook.

Perhaps Trump has no intention of completing his run, and is merely having fun being a stalking horse for Ted Cruz?

I think he has every intention of winning he's just going about it differently than other candidates. He's approaching it like a social media popularity campaign. He has no desire to appeal to liberals or democrats at all, he's just trying to whip up support in the conservative base and hoping to swing the independents his way with brashness and popularity. You don't need to compete on issues to win an election, you just have to be the guy with the most votes.
