I would prefer a TT2 over either to be honest. Maybe a couple new bike tracks on that, bike versions of tracks in GT5 already?

Someone mentioned the idea in another thread, and it got me thinking...

Would you rather have a GT5 Spec II, an expansion to GT5, or would you rather prepare for the next game with GT6 Prologue?

In Spec II, let's assume the asking price is similar to what they asked for when GT5P initially was released. Let's also assume that the selling points include: a) new Premium cars b) previous tracks not included in GT5 (i.e. Motegi, Seatle, et al) c) added content for features already in the game (i.e. more events, licenses, gear, cards, paint, etc.). Let's even assume that PD promises that cars purchased in 5 will carry over to GT6.

Or, would you rather they skip the crap and release another glorified demo of what to expect from GT6, similar in features to GT5P?
Bit of a moot question, they won't be released for another 4-5 years minimum.

I don't want to loose what I've been working for already. Theres no point removing features from any game, an expansion to GT5 would serve much longer than just a GT6 Demo.

Prologues are a stupid idea. No other games have them, why does GT? Just work on the full game and put it out.

6.5 million combined sales for GT4 & 5 Prologues says otherwise.

Why should I go for a new limited game (GT6 Prolouge), when the existing full-featured one in general is just good enough ???

Sure, some additions as new tracks would be nice as well as some maintenance on inferior functionality like missing filters/restrictions for online play or a better replay-system. But that won't make me change to a complete new version.

I think Wants PlayStation 4 comes out, we all know its going to be 4x the power minimum of PS3 and Xbox 360. So I was thinking why not release a game called just Gran Turismo. PS4 should be around from 5-8 years before PS5 comes out. So PD should make ONE game and throw in updates and expansion packs. Thats all we need for one generation of consoles. Just keep upgrading the same game and throw more stuff in it.

Only because they were made available and people bought them while waiting for the full thing.

I'm sure a Grand Theft Auto 5: Prologue or Call Of Duty : Prologue would also sell by the bucket load, doesn't mean they're a good idea.

For the fans that would be a better idea for sure. But from a commercial point of view having 2 games per console, as has usually been the case with Gran Turismo (Prologues etc excepted), earns PD more revenue. Which in turn allows them greater scope for development and manufacturer/circuit licensing etc. The only way around this would be to release DLC at a cost, which might not be popular with everyone.

It makes an excellent idea for the software developer. After all, it is a business isn't it? As long as the public laps it up it will continue to happen.

Economics 101, that. If they make it and enough people buy it, why would they stop making it and throw the profit away?

Regarding GT5 II, it would have to be very substantial for me to purchase it after already spending $100 on the Collectors Edition. As for GT6p, I highly doubt I'd buy that either and just wait for the full version.

Looks like I vote for neither.

What did the collectors edition come with?
Go to a search engine (I use google.com) and search "GT5 collectors edition".

I have to agree, asking money for a "spec-II" would be insulting, and it's nowhere near time for a GT6P, even if it's going to be 4 years for GT6, a GT6P wouldn't be due for another 2 years.
And this seems to all be assuming PS4 will be released soon, I know I haven't heard anything from Sony about that.
Last I heard, Sony said PS3 was going to be made last about 10 years? I believe that would leave 4-5 years to go for the current system.

GT6P would be new physics, tracks possible, look and feel, perhaps new/limited features. Think how different GT5P was to GT4.

GT6 Prologue would likely be nothing like GT6 anyway. Look at GT5P to GT5.

I want Spec 2, and I want it to be a free update like the rest of the updates we've been getting.

I'd be willing to buy a Spec II if there was a substantial trade-in credit for GT5 customers and there was substantial new content. One or two new tracks and a handful of new cars wouldn't cut it for me.

I'd definitely pass on a GT6 Prologue--OP is right: it's just a glorified demo that if anything should cost next to nothing. I'd wait a few months and buy a GT6P used for $10-15 rather than paying $30-40 new.

GT5 Prologue is actually cool enough, having slightly better graphics and some music I miss not being in GT5, that I fire it up every once in a while. Of course the better physics has me coming back to GT5.

I have a feeling that there's going to be a GT6 Prologue too, and I'll be one of the million-plus pre-ordering it.

By the way, the sales figures quoted above are wrong.

GT5 Prologue: 5.2 million units sold

GT5: 6.37 million units sold

If the PS4 is coming soon GT6 might be nice, but since that is not on the agenda ...

I have never had any of the two prologue games.

I think PD will have problems trying to sell a addon for GT5, for sure there are enough people that are willing to hand over money for a update.

But also there will be more than enough not willing to do so & that would make for issues with online racing in the future.

I have to say GT 6 will be on the current System Sony is still trying to recoupe its R&D cost on the PS3, I think most addons or spec update,s will come via updates & not addon DVD,s

It could be a good move for PD to update the game with new content in the pre Christmas run in, adding new cars or track or just changing some standard cars to prem spec could move more stock games off the shelf.

Also with F1 2011 & Fonza coming out soon a big update would a + sign from PD to keep the game going.

:)
