Super-expensive hybrid Porsche that can come painted with a Martini livery from the factory? *throws money at screen*

You say that then don't quote where it says from Porsche that its totally official. Leaked means nothing.
And you spout off the most asinine reason for it being fake completely ignoring the time it would take to come up with all that information just to "fake" a brochure.

The guy who leaked it is named Futch, & is a potential buyer for a 918. So, if he says the brochure is out & is real, he's more than likely right.
The brochure is out. Beautiful car! Final power is above 795 hp, weight is less than 1665 kegs with the weissach package. the latter consists of 35 kg saving plus different wheels and two special liveries, martini or white with red stripes like atwood's 917.

0 to 100 in less than 3 s

0 to 200 in less than 8.9 s.

Fuel consumption officially under 3 L/100 in normalised EU cycle. Smiley

They did it! Those engineers are just insane. Expect true real world consumption of around 6 L/100. For a 800hp car!!!Smiley

First hot laps for costumers next week in Leipzig, I will miss the event but they will be more before year end.

Two special colours, liquid metal grey or blue. 10 layers of paint for a liquid metal look, I've seen it and it is mindblowingly beautiful. Its price too, 50000 euros!

plenty of official pics in the brochure, which I am sure will appear on the net soon. The car is gorgeous. The cockpit is just insane, looks like a spaceship, the center console a la Carrera GT flattens out with a digital touchscreen. Three separate dials in front of you, a nice reference to older 911s. Compared to the Carrera GT a bigger boot, that'll be nice for short trips. The roof still stores itself in two parts in the 110 L front boot.

The RS Spyder rims are gorgeous and imo, prettier than the futuristic looking standard rims. The Weissach package, I'm not sure, it will cost a fortune and to be honest, although it can, who would thrash a 918 on the track (it comes with 6 point harness and every gram that could be saved, has been saved)?
I got the brochure with the iPad app and unfortunately can't save the pics. Yes 50k is insane but everything about this car is slightly insane anyway. We will see.

Interesting times ahead with Ferrari and McLaren bringing out supercars too. I reckons both wil have the Porsche licked but I also think the porsche will be the most useable as is often the case.

Cant wait for the Ferrari though which should be closer to 900hp for probably 1500kg!!! Amazing but so too will be its fuel consumption. I drove the FF which has the same detuned V12 and it's one thirsty beast.

The 918 in hybrid mode will a very unique experience. Very exciting indeed. The dawn of a new era for sports cars.

And how on earth did some one fake this brochure, but knew exactly to include the Weissach option in it, something that has not exactly been advertised by Porsche as an option?
Although Porsche won't confirm who was driving the early version of the 918 Spyder at the time, it does say the best lap was achieved with a prototype boasting what it describes as an optional 'Weissach package' and on standard Michelin road tyres.

I'll let you wipe the egg off your face now. :P

What does Weissach mean in German? "Extremely Large Sack"?

Can't take pictures of the iPad brochure? Tell rich boy to RTFM and press the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time.

Enough information has be rumoured and leaked about this car for someone browsing enough to piece together a semi believable amount of information. You could even do the same with something like the PS4 for example and people would probably believe it except this is even easier to do because it exists and we have seen it.

People have gone to crazy lengths to fake things on the internet in the past, especially with Apple stuff, with apparently no reason. I wouldn't trust anything until I see it in a Porsche showroom.

Yeah, everyone on the net is what they say they are, I'm a millionaire and a potential buyer of a 918 too.

There have been a Weissach edition Porsche's in the past on so its not beyond believable that they would offer one on such a special model. It would be like me betting on the fact there will be a Black Edition of the next high powered Mercedes, hardly a genius prediction.

I'll let you wipe the egg off your face now. :P

So they have been testing it with a Martini livery...that's hardly a secret plus it don't see how a pre production car being tested in a certain paint scheme translates to that being an definite option for buyers of the production version.

As for the Weissach edition, again I don't see how Porsche saying they are using such a package and a brochure rumouring there is such a package proves without a doubt that its real!

To this extent & to not have Porsche declare it fake? Or better yet, release the Nurburgring time as well to follow it?

There's not enough facepalm pictures on the net to describe the ignorance of your post. A moderator of a popular Porsche forum who has had proven ownership of a 599 GTB, Carrera GT, California, amongst other supercars is suddenly full of crap because he has leaked parts of the brochure. We'll ignore the fact he was invited to the Leipzig track with other potential buyer before the video of the car running the track came out on YouTube & posted in this thread.

That said, the rest of your post isn't worth a response because your head is already in a position where it believes you're right over the guy who has a much more legitimate background for this topic. Yep, that guy's an idiot & obviously BS'ing & you're completely right because the brochure said, "High-Revving V8".

Have to say, I love the contrast between silent and noisy. Somehow even more special that way.

And let's face it, nobody likes the douche who drives around their neighborhood or through the center of town with the world's noisiest exhaust hanging out the back. Doesn't matter what the car is, people will think you're a knob. What better way of stemming that hatred than being able to drive around in utter silence (with what still looks like plenty of performance in EV mode) before pressing the loud button as you leave town and enjoying the V8?

Hybrid supercars? Bring 'em on, I say.

I like how it goes from Drop Shuttle to Thresher Maw.

Porsche 918 to weigh 1700KG, New Details Available

Porsche product manager James Eastwood has disclosed more details about the 918 Spyder.

In an interview given to CAR, Eastwood said the output of the powertrain will not be increased to match the LaFerrari and P1 since 918 Spyder's "technology makes the car faster on the road and track", even though it's heavier.

Speaking of weight, he said the supercar will tip the scales at 1,700 kg (3,747 lbs) with fluids and fuel included. The optional Weissach package will lower weight by 50 kg (110 lbs). He added almost half of 918 Spyder buyers ordered the weight-reducing package. Eastwood believes Porsche won't have any problems selling all 918 units.

He also declared the four-wheel steering system was actually developed for the 918 Spyder and implemented on the latest 911 GT3. Eastwood says over a racing lap it represents the equivalent of an extra 50 bhp (37 kW) or 100 kg (220 lbs) less weight.

The full interview can be found at the source link below.

Maybe i should order mine in the pink pig livery

Video is not so great this time, but monkey Harris is the man to watch:

He quotes, 1640kg and 887hp, being 608hp from the 4.6l V8 alone.

I won't devalue Porsche's efforts in building such technical masterpiece, that's pure engineering beauty specially in all the attention given to small details like the aluminum coated carbon fiber dash :embarrassed:, but it did left me wanting for them to build a V8 only version, Harris cites eleven hundred kilograms as the hypothetical non-hybrid kerb weight for the car.

I really enjoy how Porsche is very open about the development of the car. Letting journalists drive a pre-production car is something I cannot see Ferrari nor Mclaren doing.

At one stage, this looked to be a really interesting car, but unfortunately for Porsche the goal posts for the Hypercar market have been moved to another zip code by Ferrari and McLaren.

It’s not like the hybrid element is a USP anymore either, as both Ferrari and McLaren have that too.

As it stands, I ‘m really struggling to see how Porsche will ever sell 918 examples – it just doesn’t have anything to make it stand out vs the competition – it will be slower, heavier, the styling is likely too conservative for the market and the price is still astronomical.

They might be able to shift them at £400-500k (half the La Ferrari/P1 price point), but not at £800k+.

Like the development engineer/project manager guy said in the vid, there is a bigger market for these cars now then there was 10 years ago. I don't imagine they'll have too much trouble shifting them. But as you say, the game has moved on already. Unless the finished product is exceptionally good and floors the LaFerrari and P1 when it comes to handling and drivability, it's always going to be seen as a lesser rival to the Mac and Ferrari. It's a predicament for Porsche. They could either up it's performance to be in the same ball park as the other two, or drop the hybrid and aim it at the purer, smaller production run Paginis, Koenigseggs etc. As it stands, it looks somewhere in the middle, which isn't great for marketing. It's also too conservative in it's styling, it already feels like it's been around for ever.

Not a fan of the street version. If I were one in the position to order the race car, I'd do that.

I think you guys are missing the point. 85 percent of people who buy these things will never brings them to the track. When's the last time you saw an Enzo, Carrara GT or a F1 at a track day? Older people(a majority of the people that can afford these, besides rich Middle Easterners) will want the more conservative, comfortable spider that they can make a quick trip to the fanciest restaurant in town on full electric power and have the best looking car anywhere. They won't care about the performance to much and the AWD system will help them from stuffing it into a tree when they do finally decide to give it the beans a little. They would appreciate the conservative style of the ridiculous and ugly P1 and Ferrari. I'd honestly take the 918 myself. It has a sort of subtly to it that make me think I could use it and not draw a crowd to it every time I drove it.
