Maybe RUF is the reason Porsche isn't included. I wouldn't be surprised if there has been a mini-fued between Porsche and RUF ever since GT2 when we saw RUF first included. Maybe PD went after the smaller fish thinking it'd help them more, but now that RUF has been in for a while now, Porsche might feel "too good/cool" to join the series. Either way, it'd be a great way to show off their history.'

Also, have we seen a game with both RUF and Porsche side by side?

Since when has there ever been Porsche having a problem with RUF? They wouldn't even have anything to do with them if they did. Ruf wouldn't be getting chassis from Porsche if that were true. Lets just face it, (assuming this is true) Porsche has apparently made some exclusive deal that unfortunately prevents them from being in GT5 (at least at the moment).

Yes, but what might that be?

"Ok, here's the deal, Porsche, you can only take part in every racing series but one: Gran Turismo. Understood?"

"Yes, yes I understand. To Forza and NFS we go!!"

That cannot be so, could it?

Ruf first appeared in GT2.

Besides, Porsche has happily been selling Ruf bare 911, Boxster and Cayman body shells for years now.

Like I said:

In other words, I'm not even sure how true it really is. Also, Forza and NFS are already complete games so neither of them can possibly be it.

An interesting argument on GameFaqs:

Both NFS:shift and Forza have porsche possibly because neither companies are Nissan fanboys.

Right. That's why EA made a big fuss when Pro Street was one of the first games to feature the GT-R and why Nissan was a Turn 10 official sponsor, with exclusive Nissan DLC theme, gamer pics, and car pack for the game.

Nope.

Maybe in future DLC. Bring on the yellowbird in cockpit and Nurburgring.

:)

things are gonna get crowded on the internet with the GT5 youtube upload feature.

I predict a absurd amount of new youtube accounts solely putting up GT5 videos. No need for me though since I already have one in use:)

I can see a million "yellowbird at nurburgring cockpit GT5" videos alone without all the other content! ;)

Can't we all just pretend that RUF is Porsche. I mean, what does a Porsche have that the RUF doesn't improve?

The Racing history. That is really the only reason I would like them in the game.

Apparently to some, Ruf is a poor replacement for Porsche, and completely neglect to think of it's image and appeal to other Porsche enthusiast.

+100

Sure, I can live without a lot of Porsche's road cars (Panamera, anyone?), particularly if Ruf is included, but their racing models - 550 Spyder, 904, 908, 917, 935, 936, 956/962, 911 GT1, RS Spyder, and the endless array of water-cooled 911 GT variants - are all legends, and will be conspicuous in their absence from a game that will otherwise be an encyclopedia of motoring.

Would actually be pretty funny if PD put real porsches in but badged them as RUF's lol.

I think that would get them sued....But just food for thought.

Well think of it this way..... Microsoft and EA have long since associated with each other, the Ex-Game Chief of Microsoft working for EA as their COO and EA signing exclusive online deals for online games with Microsoft.

Soooo if Microsoft perhaps help EA with funding then that would account for the NFS series.

We all know that Turn10 is an internal branch of Microsoft....

Thus, if Porsche theoretically signed an exclusive deal with Microsoft, that would by default exclude Sony, and consequently GT5.

Speculation on my part but you can see that it's really easy for that to be the case. Someone didn't have to approach Porsche and say "We will pay you lots of money to not be in GT5".

hmmm, NFS use to have ferraris. But now they just have Porsche and Lamborghini.

Test drive use to have Porsche but now they just have Ferrari Ruf and Lamborghini..and alot other super car manufactures

PGR 1,2 and 3 had porsche, But PGR4 had Ruf

What in the world is going on.

^ I would think is the monopoly of Porsches brand contituants. :indiff:

-> I would also think that Che (from T10) want Porsche so bad, they successfully barred Porsche from PD AT ALL COST!!!! :grumpy:

Porsche and RUF are different. A ferrari fanboy would appreciate driving a Koenig F50 but it wouldn't have the same "taste" and "I-am-in-a-Ferrari" feeling as driving the true F50.

It's the same for RUF and Porsche.

Only thing bothers me is that they say porsche has an exclusive deal with forza but porsches are in many games other than forza.

It sounds like an excuse to me more than anything.

BTW, did they name Forza as the one with the exclusive deal? I didn't see anyone named in the article I read.

Do you think PD designed Porsches for case if Porsche allow them to include them?

No doubt there will be RUFs in the game, so I'd guess it wont take too much for them to edit off the extra RUF bits and get back to the core Porsche

I'd be very surprised if they have actually worked on modelling any cars which are not in the game though, just wouldnt make financial sense.

Why is this topic still going?

Porsche will not be in Gran Turismo 5.

End of story, their's really nothing else to discuss

Just got off the phone with somebody from PD (can't say who, but they call him Kaz) and he confirmed that Porsche's will not be included as Porsche were acting like a$$holes.

I agree with what he said, Thats exactly how I felt when driving the Dauer EB110 on EPR.
