Possible drag racing track spotted? (pics)

Track looks more like Speed Test track from Enthusia, because in GT Test Track there has been huge walls on left side, which cannot be seen on vid.

There were also walls on both sides of SSR5, from the end of the tunnel to the part where CSR5 splits off, in previous versions of the track. There also wasn't an (inaccessible) exit halfway through the tunnel in previous GT games.

The lack of a wall on the side of the track with the 100m hash marks doesn't mean that it isn't the Test Course from the previous games.

As far as the "The suits at Ferrari are a bunch of ************ and would only let PD put their cars in GT5 in exchange for NOT putting in the Test Course" hypothesis, I'm guessing that the absence of the Test Course might be related to the presence of the Top Gear Test Track (more specifically, its name)

I think it could be the test track :dopey:. It is definitely not SSR7. Whatever it is, I want it.

When i saw that, i realized that this need to be in a future DLC, i hope for that, that would be awesome to do real drag races.

Looks kinda like a Special Stage drag strip. They could probably turn SSR7 into a drag strip quite easily, or utilise SSR5's long straight.

If they are going to offer up the test track they better not have the cheek to charge money for it. It should have been in the game from day one, just like it has in GT1 - GT4.

Remember back when nfs III hot pursuit came out, and all the cars but the two Ferrari's could race in the hot pursuit mode? They said it was because they didn't want their cars to be connected to that kind of behavior. I believe you could race Ferrari in the hp mode in hot pursuit 2 though.

Random, but yes.

If they added a straight line track i mean really straight , i will kill my cars in it .
i miss the test track, you can drag race in it and test your car and what ever you wanted to do >madness< .

I don't think the problem is with ferrari as in forza 3 you can take the ferrari to the 1/4 mile and run timed. Hopefully it will be a patch with leaderboards as well or even spec3, I don't think they could charge money for a test track.

Not directly related to GT5, but have a read at this:

I always knew something was going on in Ferrari.

Few years earlier i read at polish car mag that they need to give them time to adjust car in comparition to Porshe and Lambo.

Also probably we all know story of FXX on Top Gear Track how FXX beated everything by few seconds..

Well even Clarkson demoted later this lap time saying FXX was on slicks...

Yeah they were that stupid to put slicks ... 👎

For me it is mayor let down. Cars are beautifull and probably one of best sounding ones but you can't get face of liar from them...

Because it is a track car, not a road car, it was never a secret it wears slicks.

There's no mistake that the only track in GT's history to have yellow, 100-meter markings is the Test Track. Of course, this doesn't guarantee that it is the Test Track from the video, but the fact that both footages with the X11 and BMW show the straight parts, probably means that it isn't a technical track with turns and sharp corners. Definitely not SSR7. There's nothing SSR7 about it...

Yeah you're right.

Something I have noticed is there seems to be two versions, one with white distance road markings and the other with yellow. Also it's got a track generator look to it, I hope this isn't something PD just quickly whip up in seconds to show off the speed of the X2011 and not even allow us to do it.

I don't think there's two versions. The one with the white incremental markings probably has a filter on the footage. It'd be the same filter on the Nascar part in the beginning and photomode's partial filter, or something like that.

The track seen in the opening video definitely isn't in GT5 at this moment, but that doesn't mean it'll be DLC in the future. Maybe they are having issues with Ferrari. Never give up the hope though, Spa was rumoured over a year ago (https://www.gtplanet.net/video-reveals-polyphony-digital-visitedstudied-spa-francorchamps/) and now it's DLC! :)

Don't forget these news items either:

The second one shows a logo of the Driving Park (= The test course) 👍

Regarding Spa, I think PD had it planned for GT5, but it didn't make it in time. They probably finished it some time after GT5 is released. Remember when Kaz said that his team is currently making tracks and cars at the moment, but not sure whether or not it'll be in GT5 or GT6? I think Spa made it as DLC because it was requested so much.

Other than that, PD is not one that thinks about DLCs during their development time. If we're not getting much DLC content after the upcoming, they probably want to save it for GT6. I just hope that we get some of their original tracks from previous GTs though, cause they're not exactly revealing. By that I mean they're tracks we've seen before. I don't expect any new, real-world tracks to make it as GT5 DLC.

I've been reading this . . . and it reminds me of something . . .

There's the cut scene thing from the old (released with game) Sebastian Vettel challenge where they talk about the design of the X2010 . . . that shows the X2010 driving on a track

Go to about 1:30 on vid.

What track is this??

It sort of looks like TGTT runways . . . but better tarmac and painted lines&stripes at dusk with fancy track lights. You only get a brief view of some distant buildings so it's hard to tell. But it really doesn't look like TGTT.

If this footage shows a specially made track section for the X2010 promo vid then could it be the same track section used in the new 2.0 intro video??

It's the airstrip next to the Red Bull museum (Salzburg), you can see the airstrip in the phototravel location.

The track looks like the Test Course from GT4, the distance markers on the road and the hills in the background are similar. 👍

It couldnt be that hard to model a made up 2 lane dragsrrip with bleachers on both sides and a xmas tree for an online drag race room and practice room where most would use it. Or.. All they'd need to do is use test course 400m and add center timing markers and the tree and adapt the time for start finish. Would be fun to actually have staged online drag races.

Looking back to those X2011 shots, I was partly right too that they used the "Test Track" when it was incomplete

Partly, because it was actually Route X now.
