Not really bad, just not really fuel injection. (OK, it IS injection, but not as well controlled as multi-port.) You want injection to happen right in front of the valves, after the intake system. Throttle body injection sprays at the front of the intake system, isn't as accurate or responsive, and in a cold engine there is more chance the fuel condenses out on the walls of the intake manifold.

What makes them easier to work on is the electronic control. That's also what makes them more useful for emissions control. Carburetors need all kinds of auxiliary doodads to work under different conditions. Chokes for cold operation, different jets for mixture adjustment, an accelerator pump for an extra squirt when there's a sudden throttle opening. All of that gets done by the injector in an electronic system.

Injection can be completely shut off, too, which helps fuel economy. When coasting, there is absolutely no need for fuel to be fed to the cylinders. A carb can't shut off completely because there's always air going through the throat, which draws some amount of fuel with it.

Nothing like completely derailing a thread, right? But since the car was such a dud and we know it's a No Sale, it's probably OK.......
