As for the map, my preference went to the GT3 setup. This N/S/E/W setup was just another option I came up with.
I'd agree with you though that there are more important things to look at. Mainly the AI (Artificial Idiocy). I don't know how they are programmed. Maybe they are given a predefined route to follow, maybe a mathematical model that allows them to define their own route. Whatever it is, there needs to be more than one route/model such that each car in a race can have its own personality rather than being so predictable. Add in the obligitory online, time-of-day, weather, paintshop etc and we'd have a winner.
http://forzamotorsport.net/news/pitp...itpass36-2.htm heres a link to FM2 site talking about it new A.I. I know it dosn't effect what PD does, but a good idea of how A.I. works and some great insight into why they do or don't suck.
All of this is from another thread here, but it gets lost so fast I thought would make a thread for it. I think about %50 of GT fans also are FM fans so for those that are the above link gives a deatailed look a t Turn10s take on A.I. I only wish that PD could give us the same, but with no offical site we are outta luck. I especially like the part that discusses how in other racing games the A.I. is not bound by the same physics as the player, regarding handling, tires ect. The A.I. in FM2 will be bound by the same physics as the player and each A.I. will have a distinct personality and driving style. I hope this will push PD to make A.I. in this manner. But we also don't have any clue how good it works since it isn't out, but great explanation nontheless.
