Was a relaxing drive with few cars on the road.

Today was as good as any to have a picture of the 150, because today... *drumroll*

I finally passed my driver's test!

IMG_20170607_223326_184.jpg

First thing that happens when I get home? Change into my work uniform and drive for the first time by myself down to work. God, it's such an odd feeling being alone in a moving vehicle for the first time. Having someone else there is all I've ever known...

Only allowed to drive at daytime with my vision, but it's a start.

Feeling:

Congratulations on your new found freedom.

Just don't be a, errr...Leadfoot :P

Well, I cleaned a rare car today. Ever heard of a Ford V8 Pilot? Me neither, 'till Wednesday.

Pilot 2.jpg

This particular one is one of the last - built in 1951.

They featured two engines. Early models had a 2.2 litre 'flathead' V8 with 60BHP (yes you did read that correctly) while this one like most had the 3.6 litre version of the same engine with 90BHP. While I dread to think what the fuel economy and performance is like, it sounds like god-damn thunder!

Peculiarly they have no Ford badges.

Some pics from Gridlife which is basically Forza Horizon in real life. It's a car show, time attack (which is what I am in) drift event, and music festival. So far it has been a blast and there's still one day left.

Edit: I know this isn't a car pic, but here's one picture from concert so you can get the idea of how crazy this event is

Aw. doggy.
I should probably get new floor mats. At least the drivers one, anyway. I broke the metal ring that secures it into place the last time I was cleaning them... vacuum just sucked it right up

Congrats man! It's a great responsibility, but a great freedom as well. Keep any and all distractions away. No phone, keep the volume turned down, keep the windows down (or at least cracked), and most importantly... inspect your car frequently. That's exactly what I would have told myself four years ago.

I got my new camera lens a little over a week ago but just today was I able to use it. It's the Canon 55-250mm IS STM, which isn't exactly the most expensive lens on the market, but after one day with it I have to say I'm very impressed with it. I've always used manual focus in an effort to let me learn quicker/better but the STM is a major selling point, and the auto-focus is lightning quick and dead silent. Seriously. I only took a couple pictures of my car today but this one really stands out to me. I just transferred them to my computer so it's unedited...

Does pictures of a car you used to own count...? I had sold my 340k+ miles 1995 LS400 to a friend to use as his daily driver a year ago. Then he sold it to some drifter in New York with 360k+ miles. Poor thing is going to get one heck of an end to it's life. :(

I've sent all my paperwork to Volkswagen and I should be turning my TDI in at the end of this month. It has been sitting since January or so, so it is time to run the last tank of fuel through it.

Honestly, it is a fantastic car and I would've kept it if not for the intercooler issue. Ever since then the car has been using more oil than I'd like between oil changes and I don't want to deal with problems down the road. 50+mpg and tons of low down torque made it quite a fun daily driver though. Getting more than I bought the thing for makes the choice much easier.

This thread is making me a bit jealous especially knowing i won't get anything near what you guys have. :P
At least i own a car, that's what matters the most.

Speaking of my car, i was thinking about installing or replacing some parts with more higher end OEM parts. Things like interior accessories and different rims. Not sure why i was thinking about that but i don't want to go anything near what some kids around my age do (*cough* Loud exhausts, "BBS" styled rims and huge aftermarket stereo & speakers...etc of cringe-worthy stuff).

With that attitude you never will.

Chin up, and work hard is all I can say. Make smart purchases and don't just jump into a deal because you like the car. You gotta have a realistic/pessimistic point of view when it comes to these things.

Anyway,

Here's the little Polo that could. Hauled four people up the mountain pass. Two of us account for four people in weight so technically it hauled 6

Work hard as in literally get a job? If so then I guess I have to wait until 4-5 years later when I finally get a degree at university since working at age 18 is quite unpopular thing over here and most payouts will probably sucks anyways. I could instead claim to the government that i'm unemployed and not students (loophole I know) since i'll probably get more money than actual work but still...pretty hard.

Let's see, If i went that way than there's no way I'm going to get a used car because:

%50 of used cars are most likely a salvaged cars imported from 'murica.
%30 are cars with expensive repairs or unreliable.
%10 are cars that are rare over here (could be common elseway) and would be hard to find any parts due to being...well rare.
%10 are just your everyday car but treated poorly due to harsh drivers.

A new car is always better but what I would buy with my money? A Toyota yaris?

That's hardly something I would consider worthy of an upgrade over my RAV4 so no thanks.

Hell with that! Loud exhausts are the dog's nuts!

Sorry but I don't like the average Civic fart cans.

Sorry if I put off everyone here, I didn't meant to offend anyone. All I wanted to say is how nice everyone's car are.

First off that ain't a fart can. You can have a loud exhaust without it being a fart can. The ricer Civic point of view was outdated nearly a decade ago.

With that attitude no wonder you ain't going to get a flashier car, not that there's anything wrong with a RAV4.

Getting a car requires money. Getting money usually requires a job. Kind of obvious isn't it?

Most people do a job they'd rather not do. That's life. That's necessity. That's the reason I own 3 cars - I did a job I hate for 2 years. Nothing worth doing is easy. It takes effort, something you seem reluctant to bother putting in based on half the stuff I've seen you post on GTP.

Just try and be thankful you've got a RAV4.
Some people don't even have a car.

I was just kidding, I don't have anything wrong with aftermarket exhaust. I just feared people would say "No don't do anything to your car" sort of thing.

I wasnt even being rude or complaining in my orignal post.

Like I said before, i'm 18 years old. Most people in my country and nearby countries like UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia don't work at that age. Not even summer jobs. It's a traditional thing to study at a college or university and it might even reach the point of studying aboard before even considering working.

Secondly, are you seriously telling me that i'm awful person and that I post the worst stuff over here? Wow...no wonder why I tend to feel lonely here.

Just try and be thankful you've got a RAV4.

I think you ignored this part.

Seriously, why everyone took my post as a complaint and hateful post? :indiff:
