I love my steelies but I want to do it proper and paint them. I sanded off as much surface rust as I could and it's a new car so the steel is painted a nice black but there are spots it's not so nice so I want to go over the whole thing. I don't plan on taking the tires off so I'm looking at DIY tips for painting your own rims. Gonna use matte black spray, two thick coats on each with a clear coat after?
Just tape up the tyres. You should be able to slip cardboard into the gap around the tyre and wheel to stop them being painted.
Any reason for using matt black and then a clear coat? Will the clear be matte/satin too?

Best to do 2 light coats then 2 thicker coats. This helps the paint stick and also prevents runs in the paint from too much paint going on to the wheel in one go.

I've previously owned a two door '99 Focus (2.0) and a two door '06 Focus and I was in dire need of an upgrade. I ended up treating myself with a new car back in April.

Absolutely love this car to bits. Getting new tires and some love and caring on friday after last month's trip to Nurburgring with my girlfriend.
Only did two laps but the track is mental - the elevations changes & g-forces, it just has to be expereinced in real life.

Future plans for the car includes an upgrade to ~210hp, removing the speed limiter, possibly new rims and a trunk lip spoiler, as well a trip to Spa next summer.

Opel Astra looks so big in these pictures and it's 3 door version! Is it CDTi? What is situation about diesels in Netherlands?

It runs on regular gas. Situation in the Netherlands isn't that bad yet, cities still allow (not too old) diesels to run and it's cheaper than gasoline. I'm expecting it to become more expensive when Germany goes through with its plans.

Plans? What kind of plans? Please tell, this interests me a lot.

Traded my 1983 Celica GT-S for this 1980 Volvo 242 the other day. B21 with M45 4 speed manual. Oldest car I've owned so far!

Haven't had a chance to drive it but it needs a head gasket so I don't really want to right now anyway. Needs a little love, but since he was putting cash on top and coupes are pretty rare I figured why not.

Sorry about that. I do know the admins on this site dislike double postings. I was just trying to avoid their ire.
