post-e3 Yamauchi interview with official playstation magazine uk

Okay, now hold on..

Is this the second interview about GT5 where he confirms that the game can be released, but they are still wanting to do stuff?

Because in this one he talks about polishing things.. meaning, everything is as good as done.. so maybe GT5 is just done now, with weather effects, damage and night time racing.. plus all the cars and tracks as stated before, but they are just tweaking and polishing.

Can someone find that second interview where he states that they can release GT5 whenever they want? (if this is not the same one, that is).

cheers.

Have you tried reading the article?

How about GT5? Is development running smoothly?
It’s going well. We could put it out at any time, or we could carry on working on it. There’s always something to polish.

Facepalm.

EDIT: I see you've found it now.

everybody seems becoming mad.....:sly::sly::sly:

gt5 will be released after few month from gtmobile but surely before the end of the year... for me it's feel so sure....

Yes, I think there is plenty of evidence we should expect it this year. To me November/early December seems the right time to release it perhaps even October.

Absolutely.. this is good news.

Kazunori is talking about "polishing" now.. not about "implementing weather and night, cockpit views for a couple of hundred cars, damage, etc"...
Polishing is good, the final touches.. perfecting things that are allready done.

if this is translated right then we could very well see GT5 this year still, and if they are smart they line it up for this holiday season.

I´m sure they were about to release GT5 on november but then they see that forza3 will come in october and that may be the reason why we get no rls. date after the trailer... that FM3 presentation cuts all their plans... I think they are now thinking about when will be the best rls. date for GT5...

Because it´s sure that GT5 will be a big system seller for Sony and if MS ain´t announced FM3 on the E3 then many of the xbox users would buy an PS3 to play GT5 on november... but now they got no reason because they are getting a nice racing game too...

But still got hope that it comes in 2009

Although it's still just a speculation, like most of the posts on these forums, I do NOT expect Gran Turismo 5 before 2010. The reason is simple - Sony's main target for the end of this year is PSP Go! and Gran Turismo Mobile. Share GT5's car-list or anything else with public before October and I assure you that it would spoil all the effort that PD gave to GT Mobile (publicity is what I'm talking about now!), which would also negatively affect sales afterwards. GT5 would overshadow much more anticipated projects than GT Mobile is I guess. I'm not owner of PS3 yet, so I can give you more objective prespective on this matter I hope. But I believe GT5 is worth waiting (and finally buying a PS3 in my case :dunce:). Let's think straight and realistically, guys! 👍

Sad but propably true. At least the waiting part.

I'm concerned that if all he's waiting for is a little spit and polish why wasn't the demo a little longer or show more of the other teams in NASCAR.

I'm glad that they're putting the effort into it to make it perfect, but a lot of people, myself included, aren't the biggest fans of waiting this long for a game.

On the bright side, I remember Yamauchi once said in some interviews that ultimately most features available on GT5 would be made available to GT5P through updates and the only differences between the two would be the number of cars and the number tracks.

Since PD has now entered the polishing stage for GT5, maybe they finally have time to release some long delayed updates for GT5P? It would be a good idea for PD to test some of the new GT5 features on the GT5P community before releasing the game too.

I've read a couple of interviews about GT5 and KY seems to not worry about the ''competition''. PD do their things and that's it.
Just my personal feeling about that

I don't know if this means much but play.com seem to think that Gran Turismo 5 will be released on Christmas day (Link). Speculation on play's part ?
I know it's a feasible release date but still not sure.

I know this probaly won't mean much to you guys and girls here at :gtplanet:.

PS: Sorry if this is old news.

I think they are waiting for Sony's go ahead to release it, its Sony's biggest release, they might want it at christmas or to coincide with a price drop, whichever helps get more PS3's off the shelves.

I don't think Kaz is holding on to it specifically because he wants to polish it.

Agree

The competition seems to come from ms mouthing off and xbox fanboys basically puffing up there franchise off the back of GT. In real terms it's a bit like saying Killzone is competition to Halo which is bunkum.

Play.com don't have a clue what date it will be released, just like all the other shops that have a date of release next to the pre-orders, they have been changing that date for well over a Year and a Half now.

I could see them releasing GTM on October 1 (the date given in the E3 trailer) and GT5 in early December, if not a little sooner to help hype the garage connectivity between the two (if it's implemented, of course). Besides, I don't expect them to reveal the full GT5 car list until right before it goes on sale.

Only two-months gap between GTM and GT5? Bad marketing (and economic) strategy... They'd like to make money on GTM and they'll be glad when their competitors don't steal possible customers to them. Why would they harm themselves? It doesn't make any sense. Gaming business differs from movie industry, where first weekend is crucial in terms of making money. Games are much longer-lasting. And don't forget about Christmas - a lot of people would like to buy it to their friends or relatives, which makes games or any other palpable things longer-lasting from the financial point of view (in comparison with movies).

And the other thing - have you ever seen only two-month lasting marketing campaign in the world of games or movies? I doubt it. You haven't, cause it doesn't work.

I would like to express my opinion on another matter too. I mean "we can release it anytime" quote. You can use it on anything. But there's a question - in what quality? I guess a few more months waiting is worthy. Or do you want to be bothered by bugs, lack of content or anything else all the time while playing the game?

I would actually turn that around...

Now, who of us would buy the PSP GT-M after buying GT5 for PS3? GT-Mobile must be release before GT5 or way, way after it to maximize it's sales.

Most of us will be tempted to buy GT-M in October. It's cheap(ish) and will feed the addiction, under the excuses that it does not take GT5's place, it's for the holidays, etc. And come xmass we will buy GT5 for sure.Do it the other way around, and I don't see me buying it before it goes "nice-price" in a year or so.Also, since there are rumors of a new PS3 (slim or whatever...), that and GT5 are the perfect package to make huge sales in xmas. As stated again in E3, GranTurismo is the most sold title on Playstation platforms.

So in my opinion... GT-M will ship with the new PSP-Go and GT5 with a new PS3 in xmass and that's a good timing. For "them" of course... not for "us". Just to think we could already have GT5 and it's being delayed for a big xmass launch... humpf :grumpy:

Although the release date for GTM was set to October (which seems quite far from holiday season), it's obvious that they're aiming for Christmas market too. Take a look at other-big-games-launch-date: Assassin's Creed II on November 17, 2009 or BioShock 2 on October 30, 2009. I just don't believe we'll have GT5 till 2010. Sony wants the public to focus on GTM, not GT5, and they would harm their interests when they change this status before Santa Clause visits our homes :). So I do not expect any new info on GT5 this year either. Which makes me feel a little sad, but I try to be honest to myself. :scared:

I meant holidays as an excuse. "I'll have GT5 at home and can use GT-M when I go on holiday", as in vacations :)

I still think 2 months is enough to GT-M to get those first sales where they make the most money, and that is the reason why they did not say "GT5 for xmass!". They won't state a date until December, about a week before launch.

(...)Which makes me feel a little sad, but I try to be honest to myself. :scared:

You have a point there, I may just be believing what I want to happen :)

"How about GT5? Is development running smoothly?"

"It’s going well. We could put it out at any time, or we could carry on working on it. There’s always something to polish."

I'd say this means that the game is finished and complete. It could therefore be released next week if they felt like it

There is no need to wait until a holiday. There is no need to wait until a cheaper slimline PS3 is available.

If it is released very soon those of us with PS3's and who want the game would buy it. Some without PS3's would buy it and a PS3 to go with it. Neither of these things prevents Sony from including it with a cheaper slimline PS3 as and when it is available on the run up to Christmas.

GT4 was released in March in Europe. It did not hurt its sales at all.

I fully agree that GT5 needs no help to sell. Anyone with a PS3 that likes cars will buy it.

The purpose I believe is to delay it to push the PSP-Go with GT-M first, and then boost PS3 sales (new or not) on xmas by piggy-backing on the granted success of GT5.

That's why I'm grumpy. We could have it now... it's just marketing idiocy strategy.

Babyish rant to follow: How anoying is it that first GT5 gets delayed so PD can make a PSP game that in reality will have a very small sales base as compaired to GT5, and now GT5 gets put on the back sales burner so that Sony can try to sell us said PSP game in leu of the GT we accually want.. rant finished.

I agree with you! But i think maybe Sony pushed PD to make GT Mobile, just because they were coming out with the PSP GO.
