well, as I have mentioned earlier, gaming mags cannot be trusted. All they do is pretty much just a quick way of persuading the public to buy it. Let me give you guys an example. I find mass effect to be an awesome, though somewhat flawed, game. I was really excited about it. So I saw the latest edition of an official xbox360 magazine which said on the cover: The final truth about ME revealed, the score you've all been waiting for! Please forgive my ignorance but this made me believe that an actual review might just be inside, so I bought the magazine (I couldn't flip through the pages beforehand, it was sealed). Sure enough...there is a two page preview saying how great the game is and that a review will follow NEXT issue...

This is just an example, but this is magazine policy. Furthermore, our judicial system allows for this sort of 'misprint' to occur since the reasoning behind it is that the consumer should know/be aware that they are overselling their product. If this was not the case, commercials as a whole would be unlawful, but they are not.

lesson: do not EVER, EVER trust a magazine again:ouch:

I won't believe it until I see it in Game Informer. They have had some exclusives before anyone else (including interwebs)

Well, technically, the magazine didn't lie. They announced "the whole story" and it turned out the whole story currently is pretty short. :indiff:

I'm pretty sure the US "Playstation The Official Magazine" (PTOM) won't make the same mistake the other mags did. If they are going to tell readers what was at E3, then great! Making claims to give us "the whole story" and not delivering is intolerable.

In all fairness 'the whole story' so far amounts only to what we've gleamed from E3. I suspect the publishers were expecting more of a reveal from PD themselves, knowing what the lead time is like on print press.

I had a look in the latest edition of Edge today. It's one of the most respected games magazines and they had a feature on E3. I don't think they promised any more than that in their last issue but if the best a magazine can do is always one whole month out of date them there really isn't a future for any of these magazines.

You're actually comparing the better part of a year-plus in the dark to this crap? :odd:

And even if there is a point to be made from that, which would Prologue in this respect, there's still the aspect of communication. At the very least.
Yes, that is the point. When is FM3 coming out?

Oct 27th in America. So far. And when was the announcement made?

E3 2009, June 2nd. So that's a little over four and a half months prior to release, assuming it isn't delayed because they had trouble squashing a bunch of bugs. And we don't know when the FM3 demo will be released, maybe three weeks prior to launch, like they did with FM2. But who knows.

So let's say GT5 comes out Nov 24th. We will have gotten a demo, GT HD, almost three YEARS prior to release. And we will have had a mini game, GT5 Prologue, almost two YEARS prior to the release of GT5 itself, for those of us who imported it.

You may not like the difference, but personally, I love what we got vs what the Froza fanz got. You can have a few screenies and videos. I'll take having an awesome game I can play with and admire. But that's just me. ;)

Well the Forza fans could play Forza 2 which has more content than GTHD and GT5 Prologue. ;)

the hole story....about what? The Trailer or GT5?

This is so stupid, if your into games enough that you would buy or subscribe to the magazine, then surely you would check for info online too... stupid OPM...

PSM is better.

Did we ever actually get any of the scans in the end? (I know they're useless but was just wondering)

C.
