Sounds just make a car game. In GT3 and GT4, that is how I would tune the exhaust on my cars. Not for power, but for best sound. I don't care if the racing exhaust gave me more power. If it sounded worse than the Sport exhaust, I wouldn't use it.

That's weird. Sounds like that Mustang has a V8... So unlike Gran Turismo.

PS: I hope they'll actually have real boxer sounds as well, because the RUFs/Subarus were VERY lame in GT4. Even with open exhausts they sounded nothing like the real thing. Subarus are good and all, but I heard a few open-pipe Porsches tearing it up and god that unrestricted flat-six sound is like nothing else in the world.

The sound of GT changed in many aspects, I personally like the sound of F430, because it's very close to real sound. But Viper sounds nothing like V10 engine and that F599 is just buzzing like vacuum cleaner.

If you relate auto racing to other types of human competition, it's a little easier to put drifting into perspective. For me the difference between racing and drifting is very similar to the difference between something like running and dancing. Runners have short distance races, middle distance races, marathons. All have a defined end point and require you to be the absolute fastest for your distance or to maintain a proper pace to be fastest without killing yourself. This is like car racing, pushing the limit, using all of your abilities.

Dancing, on the other hand, requires as much skill, but is entirely subjective in terms of scoring. You have judges who express an opinion and decide the winner. There is a defined start and finish, but scoring is based on beauty, not speed. This is drifting.

Racing comes from danger, from primal instinct, from fear, from the desire to run away as fast as possible. It's practical. Drifting comes from art, enhances the experience of life, but won't help you avoid being eaten by lions or caught by the police!

Subtle, serious and funny all in one, and explains things perfectly. While I've never been a drifter, and have no intention of doing anything but race with my racing game, it beautifully expresses why some people like to drift.
I can't say I'll ever agree with the mindset of the drifting community, and look forward to seeing a few "eaten by lions" such as yourself (judging by WRS results) when it comes to online racing, but I still want GT5 to be a street racing game, not a "Tokyo Drift" game!

Thanks for posting. This sounds proper. On the real Z06 there is a exhaust valve that opens under full throttle (or a certain rpm?) that changes the sound quite a bit. Does this happen if you go easy on the throttle in game as opposed to WOT?

the car sounds just fine, go see top gear, and you cant really hear it from the inside.. yes its a v12... but its not as loud as ppl may think

EDIT: Just watched the Top Gear vid of the C6 Z06, and the exhaust sound incar in the game is VERY similar to the Top Gear video....i'm impressed.
