Merry Christmas to all of you!

The new penalty system is pretty good actually. It seems to be dynamic!
If you cut some corners there is a 2 second pen, others a 5 second one, hitting cars is similar.
Seems to be based around how much time you would have gained by the incident, the more you would have gained, the longer the pen period.

Or so it seems to me, anyway.

SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment America) posted a new fact sheet for GT5P with minor updates including spello fixes; the American release date is listed as Spring 2008.

Old version
Race 30 high-performance and exhaustively detailed cars, including vehicles from Ferrari, Lotus, Nissan and Mitsubishi.

New version
Race up to 50 high-performance and exhaustively detailed cars, including vehicles from Ferrari, Lotus, Nissan and Mitsubishi.

The Japanese version has 37 cars but some dealership events are locked for me (presumably unlocked on the 25th with the online mode) so it can’t be fully completed, however I reckon the Morrison AM Corvette is awarded once everything is won.

Photo Mode gives players the opportunity to photograph their car during the race where they can take advantage of zoom, depth of field and motion blur.

Some goodish news, the absent photo mode is still listed as being included.

For those not aware, that Daihatsu shot's up on the official site... interesting...

Alpha, nice find. Interesting to read; it looks like we might get some added content, much like the extra cars GT4 ended up with when it was released here. If Photomode really is included, I'll finally have to cave and get the new system!

From what I know, both EU and US version will come with additional cars and features which will be offered to owners of Japanese version as the free download. March is release date, and there is a possibility that US will get downloadable PSN game too, while EU should be BR-only.

UPDATE INFO 29-1-2008

So, below is official press-release form SCEA. Note few intresting bits, but somehow I doubt to beleive in them because we all know that PR often missintrerpret the reality. Notice that RD is set to "spring", while DaveTheStalker found this info on SCEA blog about date set to April 17:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/01/29/gran-turismo-5-prologue-priced-and-dated/

However, here are the most intresting "facts" for US release:

• Race more than 60 high-performance and exhaustively detailed cars, including vehicles from Ferrari, Audi, Nissan and Mitsubishi,
• Quick Tune facility allows you to adjust power, tires, suspension and more.

Press release form October last year (by SCEA) quoted only 30 cars (NTSC/J game had 37), while it also mentioned Quick Tune facility (whatever that is, but it clearly is not the set-up screen we have in NTSC/J game). ALso, on press-images there is Morrison Corvette 60, which was missing from NTSC/J game, although it was promoted in assets prior to release.

Thanks for the update Amar212!
I hope they can patch the Japanese versions that are our right now with any new cars that they introduce with the US release.

I really hope so.
I'd like to see them update and include new cars in the game.

I think the trend is to promote the new cars and help give exposurer to them. It's working! I like the new BMW 1 Series, which is an awesome 50/50 weight balanced car and I like how it drives. In GT5 Prologue it's really fun to drive and makes me consider one in real life, but I am surprised why there is no S2000 in the game. Front wheel drive Integra Type R being the only car from Honda in this game I'm hoping they can change this with a future patch to include some new cars like the new Honda S2000 CR.

glad you can mess with car settings before a race,

but still no euro release date :guilty: I just hope it's close to the american date because it's still a good wait until april and don't want to wait until the Gta4 madness dies down before we get it here .

Also I think Gt5 will ship in April 09 now.

Great news! I'm glad that I already got the import version though. But looking forward to finally reading some English.

I'm also hoping, if the 60 cars are true, that PD will add in some race cars.

I should probably go buy my G25 now...:sly:

The 60 cars for the EU/NA release did not suprise me one bit.

Remember the release is still 3 months away, and even with my limited familiarity with the Japanese culture, I can tell PD will not ever gimp on their own people. Odds are the people with the JPN verion of the game now might be playing those extra cars way before the EU/NA release, through downloadable updates.

Besides, what better way to test those extra cars, online and offline with people that already paid for the game?

My projection ~> import owners can expect updates of extra cars in a month or so all the way to the EU/NA release.

Thank you folks, I am here all week.

No thanks i don't like motorcycles and i don't want them in gran turismo. thats the way most GT gamers feal because car lovers usualy aren't big motor fans.

And of those 23 new cars the SEMA cars and TAS are sure to be there. The HPA TT and Greddy Z and amuse 380RS Z are example's that Kaz chose for GT5p.

Is there any chance that even one of these new vehicles may be a motorcycle?

While doubtful as Tourist Trophy would be the logical incarnation, I have to add that when GTHD was being shown about a year ago there was information and photos from PD about the inclusion of motorcycles. Now I personally would like it but PD will probably go with a separate game (TTHD? lol) as there would be more money likely for them.

Well at least one of them has been shown. The 2006 AM Morrison 3G 'Vette that has been waved in our faces for the last half a year. Im really hoping the racers show with their speculated damage. Ive been wondering where in the hell the Xanavi Nismo Fairlady Z and the Bandai Dunlop SC430 that PD had been showing off have been. I hope they weren't cut completely from the game.

Technically they've never been in Prologue so they can't have been cut from it. Just because we've seen them doesn't mean they're going to be in GT5:P, we've seen the interior of a Mercedes 300SL too and that was nowhere to be seen. I do think the Vette will make it's appearance, but I have reservations about any races cars appearing. It'd be nice to get them, infact it'd be amazing to get them, but they'll be holding on to some things for GT5.

Really? Well, I'm in the minority here. I love cars and I love bikes.

Nevertheless, there's no fun in mixing cars and bikes in any races (IRL it's unthinkable, because it's dangerous). So, keep GT for cars, and hope to get (2011?) a TT2 for the PS3 ...

EDIT: When will the PAL version of GT5:P be released? Amar's post was about "outside Japan" and now it's just about the US release ...

EDIT2: Dave, GT4:P had race cars, even LM cars you could drive ...

Remeber E3 2006? They showed Gran Turismo HD with cars and motorcycles (even scooters). Hopefully they threw away that idea. Just make another TT2 instead.

Awesome news. I will probably buy the PAL version because I want english text. I have issues with the cover on the JPN version as well. The text style isn't the same as PAL. PAL use one type of text (on the side), black or white and they look the same while NTSC doesn't. I want it to fit in with my PAL covers :)

i love almost anything with a motor that rolls and is controllable.

I want more mazdas in the new batch of cars.

maybe one of their concepts or just an rx8 would do.

About time there is some news. Sounds great except for the fact that I still can't afford a PS3:indiff:
