Is there a manual/place that lists how the tune parameters work. Not what for what example soft springs do to a car, but if i want to soften the springs, do I turn the spring setting in the game to a higher or lower value

I played GT5P for a long time assuming that a higher number for the spring settings meant stiffer where its the opposite. Couldn't make any sense of the tunes I tried. Frustrating.

In GT5 the spring setting states a KG/mm2 measurement so again its easy to think a higher number means stiffer but it seems to work as in GT5P, lower is stiffer.

Is there a place where I/we can find this for all the tune parameters.

Thanks

(Sorry if a I put this question in this thread, but I'm a noob and can't create a new thread)

I tuned my '05 evo with full race mods, went 30 70 with the splitter and now it glides through turns very smooth. It even has a bit of a RWD feel too it when entering the turn but it is much harder to break traction while turning than a true RWD. Tuning worked fine for me so I guess it's an Evo 10 thing?

Maybe so, because I just bought another car last night (e92 m3), and the tuning seems to work perfectly fine with this car. Suspension settings, diff settings, everything seems to work fine, so the problem seems isolated to just the 10 (so far). That being said, this is only the second car I've modified and tuned, so there are probably more cars that have issues as well. Time will tell, I suppose.

Hell, even ones that seem fine right now still need a little work. Someone with an evo 6 tme said that even with the diff at full lock, they can still lay down tire marks on one side :(. Hopefully, kaz and the team actually pay attention to these forums and see what problems we are having (doubtful, but one can hope), so maybe this will all get fixed...

The higher the number, the stiffer the springs. I didn't play prologue, but if what you say is true, then it was a glitch. Kg/mm is measured in kilograms of force, and the higher the number, the higher the force of the spring.

EDIT: I can't believe it, but you're right. I was messing around with the tuning on my M3, and although the suspension settings don't seem to have anywhere near the effect that they should, from what I can tell, they are backwards. PD screwed the pooch on this game. Between this and all the other glitches, I'm getting rapidly fed up with this game. I hate to go back to forza, because I prefer the physics in this game, but at least Forza does a better job with the accuracy of suspension tuning (still a little screwy with certain cars, though). I mean, christ, 2 of the 2 cars that I have tuned so far have been terribly done. The EVO X understeers like a pig even with the rear at full stiffness for everything (using this "backwards" tuning system that PD has employed) and a rear torque bias of 90%, and my M3 isn't much better. Thankfully, it handles reasonably well with virtually any setting, but that's the problem - the car just doesn't react correctly to tuning, with even extreme settings only netting vague changes in car behavior. Very disappointing.

Guys, is it me or rims selection is very restricted? Very poor selection...so sad.

Depends on the car. Most have 8 or 9 choices that seems to be the same, while others, like the 1969 z28 has 19 choices.

Anybody know why I cant buy any type of brakes in tuning shop ? I am at level 9 . That will unlock at higher level??

No brake upgrades at all as of yet. Not a question of level; may come in future DLC. Who knows?

The cars iv fully tuned stop fine so either the brakes auto improve with the power increase or its with the tyres as suggested earlier in this thread. Im happy with no brake upgrades as theres more cash to spend on more important upgrades :)

You can tune an EK Type R and even beat Skylines on the track with a really good susp. set up. The way that car handles is phenomenal; it is one of my favorites. I can't wait to fully mod the new STi though..

I've been trying to tune my Civic Type R too

Mind sharing any tuning figures?

Well, to give an update: since the differential settings seem to have absolutely no effect on my evo x's understeer (despite a 90% rear torque bias), I decided to see if anything in the suspension settings would enact some kind of change. So, I stiffened the rear more, and still nothing. Back and forth I went, from practice to tuning, and then, I started to notice a trend - no matter what I did, I could not tell a difference in how the car drove!

It was at this point that I began to develop a sinister theory, so to prove it, I decided to run absurd settings that would be a disaster in real life - I set the suspension to MAX stiffness on EVERYTHING in the rear, the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM on EVERYTHING in the front, MAX toe out in the rear, and... (drum roll)... NOTHING! The car drives EXACTLY THE SAME! I set the front diff to full open and the rear to full lock - nothing. I reverse it - nothing. THE TUNING DOESN'T WORK IN THIS GAME! It's just there for show! Absolutely disgraceful, this game.

I think someone's pressing "CANCEL" when they should be pressing "CONFIRM" .................

Don't be an idiot, please. The tuning in this game is garbage, and in major need of patching, so either offer something useful to the thread, or don't bother posting.

Last I checked, tuning didn't constitute adding a turbo or exhaust. Tuning was fiddling with the ECU to lay down some good graphs on the dyno, or adjusting suspension to the exact rates you require.

I like the game, but I don't love it. There was much left out that wasn't even hyped, just expected.

Overall there is a wide wave of people who are let down. I'm really not trying to be another one of those people, but I just can't help it.

You call shenanigans? I am trying to benefit the community by bringing to light a major problem with the game so that it can be brought to the attention of the developers, and you have the nerve to come in here and call me a liar because the 3 cars that you have tuned didn't exhibit this behavior? I provided a detailed account of the issues that I encountered with the EVO X so that I could see if others were having the same problem with other cars, but instead, I get people like you coming in here "calling shenanigans." You know, there were several people in here saying that even with fully customizable trannies, they couldn't adjust the gear ratios. One guy said his 700 hp mustang will only do 148 mph as a result of this. I guess that's just a bunch of "shenanigans" too, right?

I cant comment on the evo yet as i dont have one but every car iv tuned so far iv been able to tune the suspension and gear ratios and improved the cars to my liking. So its possible that there could be a glitch on certain cars as there is that many if iv got the credits i will buy an evo x and try it for myself and get back to you. I wouldnt say the tuning is garbage as like i said it works on other cars perfectly so if anything it will be a glitch on some cars. On another note i bought an E46 M3 and couldnt turbo or supercharge it which didnt impress me much as it would have had some serious power but i could turbo a nissan be and a peugeot 106 rallye wtf pd.
