I doubt it. Reconstructing a carbon fibre chassis/components is never fun or easy or cheap.

dude...I wasn't serious, it was a joke. And I meant whoever buys that piece can build a SLR out of that piece...I feel like i'm taking crazy pills here...my god.

Okay, so how many SLRs did they make? One was crashed at a press launch in South Africa, right? Another was totaled right here (I assume a crash totals these things). I bet those aren't the only two, either.

So Naseem was attempting to overtake another vehicle while going over the crest of a hill. Pure genius. The driver of the other car should sue him for every penny he is worth.

I should become a detective :D check my previous post (below)

I also noticed that its no overtaking the golfs side of the road which could mean that behind the scene there could be a hill or crest. Maybe the SLR was overtaking a car (mondeo?) in a stupid place, as the came over the hill/crest he spotted the golf, by the time he swerves back its too late and his right side cleans up the golf??

Just an idea.

Predicted production volume is 3500 (500 a year X 7 years)

Don't they do 0 to 60 in like 3.7 seconds?
Yes, yes they do.
(0-100 km/h (62mph) in 3.8 seconds.)

Just cos its fast in a straight line doesnt mean it takes evry bend or kink at 500 M/ph. The SLR is reasonably heavy for a supercar and doesnt stop or take fast turns nearly as well as it accelerates.

Uhh actually I think it is one of the best stopping cars ever. I remember watching a top gear vid where they demonstrated that it could stop in the distance it is required for a car traveling a 60mph, when it is instead at 120mph. In terms of cornering, I believe Mclaren claimed it was a better setup than the F1 but I don't know any specifics.

Hitting someone coming the other way is almost criminal inattention.

The guy is a complete idiot, I love the fact that he ran away like a girl after the accident, still at least he's kept one more of those merc monstrosoties off the road 👍

If the insurance company doesnt know what to do with it I suppose Ill take it off their hands, Ill even pay for the shipping, how nice am I :D.

He said they aren't as fast as they look. Stuff doesn't get much faster than that...

You're right M5....But the idea was sudgested that he was trying to overtake a car. We don't know how fast said was was traveling, we don't know how fast the oncomming car was coming...We don't know how large the gap was between the car he was trying to pas and himself.....
And no..It's not as fast as it looks..you look at that car and it looks like it's one hell of alot faster than it is.

Not to me. Have you ever felt 0-60 in 3.6 seconds? This car's not kidding.

Most rollercoasters get their acceleration from gravity anyway so its not the same.

Much better in a car :D.

In my car, it's 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and I consider that not kidding. 3.6 is absurd. Then again, isn't the SLR ten times more expensive?

And an interesting read: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?threadid=3789

This is the blind crest/dip in the road i mentioned in a post earlier - you can see from the debris field that the accident happened whilst the SLR was on the wrong side of the road, just after the blind crest - the guy wants locking up!

Some interesting comments about Naz on that Sheff Forum, the amount of times i've seen him driving 'arrogantly' around Sheff in Murcielagos, 550 Maranellos, Astons Vantages, SL55's etc. He's always overtaking dangerously, speeding, driving in bus lanes or parking in disabled spots - i hope he gets banned from driving for a good while this time - he was banned a few years back for doing 90mph through a built-up area.

If Naz was on the wrong side of the road and had the collision after the brow of the hill, how come he's still facing the right way on his side of the road and 50 yards further down, surely a glancing/side impact would have spun the car round? I don't belive his car skill could be that good?

Whose to say that he didn't spin 180 degrees? If it had been a glancing/side impact, i would have thought that the cars would have ended up further away from each other than they appear in the pictures.

- i'm certain his skill isn't that good either :dopey:

With his motoring track record, and the fact that he fled from the scene of a serious accident kind of points to the blame being on him.
