So im hearing lost of negative feedback about private lobbies and i apologise if this has already been discussed , but Im about to start a league of 10-12 players in the next month or so , so just wondered if you guys would be kind enough to let me know what the major problems are
Appreciate it.
Don't try it. Seriously it will be a waste of your time and your players. There are workarounds to most of the issues such as not being able to edit lobbies or run quali etc. But it's the flakey inconsistent nature of the lag, connection issues and blue/black screening that will kill it.
I'm in a league called GRT (global racing team) and we have been trying to run a new championship on GT7 instead of GTS (like everyone else still is). We came up with all the human-intelligent workarounds to get a 1 hour endurance system going. The first race went ok. Only one person lagging and no game crashes, however race 2 this week was almost cancelled and delayed by about an hour. Yes, an hour of problems for a 1 hour race. It was like trying to network 16 Amiga 500's in the 80's.
We had players unable to connect, 2 with game crashing issues and oddly/annoyingly after only getting one person with stutter lag in race 1, in race 2 half the field was lagging. We tried recreating the lobbies and restarting consoles etc.
Obviously none of us had changed console or had upgraded (downgraded) our ISP.
It was a **** show of utter turd.
In the end we had people not qualify and starting out of position and a field full of laggers (and the subsequent car collisions).
You can see the differences on my live streams here, race 1
Race 2
It's almost like two different games. Not to mention the attendance level is already starting to wane.
Edit; in fact the first few laps are good examples because we're running reverse grid starts and I mostly come through the field, so I get to see who is lagging and who isn't. (Race 1 I got mullered in a start line pile-up but, you know, race 1, new season etc.)
