Private Lobby ---- Tire temp/wear

I'm in an online racing league. So far we've been racing in Public Lobby but to avoid uninvited guests entering and messing up the race we're thinking of switching to Private Lobby.

The tire wear/temp physics are slightly different in Private comparred to Public lobby (another PD surpise). In Private tires don't heat up in the same way as in Public. Also tire wear seems to be more dependant on temp, ie hot tires wear quicker and cold slower comparred to in Public.

Some also some state there is "a bug" in Private. Randomly after a pit stop, tire temparature stay can cold and will never get worm. When this happens, the affected driver will have no chance as lap times are seconds slower on cold.

Any insight on this subject. I'm especially interested in "the bug" if any of you have noticed it.

We done some further testing. I can confirm that there is a bug in private lobby but we found a solution.

If you open a Private lobby room the tire wear/temp has a different model compared to Public lobby. The tires don't heat up in the same way, there is overall less grip, the car will handle differently, and lap times will be slower.

But if you change track and then change back to the original track, then the Private lobby will be exactly the same as Public lobby.

You should post this on GT5 Questions and Answers, or maybe even Tuning Forum, as it concerns tuners too! :) Cheers, mate! :)

I posted it to begin with in the tuners forum too, but only one reply not knowing about this bug.
My conclusion is that no one uses Private lobby as its pretty obvious when using it that the tire temp is different to Public without using the fix i wrote above.

I race almost exclusively online and am in 3 series now and have ran 4 others since the game came out. My online racing is about split evenly between public rooms and private lounges, I've never noticed the issues you are talking about and have never seen them mentioned by any of the other racers. I think if you look at the racing leagues/series you will find them split between public and private, you conclusion that no one uses private lobbies is absurd.

I put a car round a track in my Private Lounge and then in a Public Lobby, and the lap times were nearly identical. And that was without changing to a different track and changing back. The tyres don't seem to be warming up at different rates either.

There used to be an overall lack of grip, but since the PSN outage they have fixed it.

Its very real, happened in our league yesterday, we reset the track and it was fixed. Peoples tires were not heating up the way they were supposed to.

I came across this bug the other day in our league.. Had been practicing all week in various lounges/lobbies getting laptimes down to a constant 31s when it came to race day & qualy in a private lobby my car felt noticably differnt about a second a lap down per lap was struggling to get into the 32s... I havnt tested this fix as of yet but will do and will post bck here to confirm if it works or not.... but what I can say for sure is that there is defiantly a change in tye temp which was effecting my car

I race mostly in My Lounge/private lobby & no one has encountered this issue when racing, however I did get it once when I was alone & testing in Free Run, it happened after I used the pause menu to quit back to the pits to get fresh tyres.

:(

I'll do the change track thing as suggested everytime from now on though just incase.

👍

Do you have to do this just once when you open up the room, or for every new track you change to?

I can confirm this is the case and it does fix the problem...IM surprised not many people have come across this before I have noticed it before on many occasions but wasn't sure what the problem was...If you car isn't tuned to perfection and you haven't done many laps around that particular track its hard to notice any real difference.. But for me I can notice any slight change to handling which effects lap times... so thxs again
