You've started something @slthree :)

I don't think I've driven it very much before so it took a few laps to get the general hang of it (and Monza again). After 6 laps I managed a 1.41 but the hybrid juice had already run out by then so I was lacking a bit of electric boost. I might try again tomorrow when I'm more awake. And also when I've mapped the DRS button! I'm not used to these technological thingumajigs.
SC off TC & ABS on. A nice warm August day.

Oh yes you could. I know you've got in you.
Yeah you get a good bit from the DRS. If you're on it early you'll have to adjust your brake points, so it clearly makes a difference. Usually if I look to see how fast I'm going I do something wrong so it's tough to be more specific than that lol.

I ran in TT mode so I could post times, I suppose that means tires are a bit warmer too at least at the start... and you probably only have about a lap and a half-worth of fuel. Didn't actually check the weather. So many variables.

You all got me curious, so exceptionally I deviated from my plans of only running with the Toy GT86 for a while, and I picked up the P1 GTR late last night...

Did I do it correctly?

It took me 14 laps before I got tired (actually I ran out of fuel in my excitement), but it's quite fun after getting somewhat used to this beast of a monster...

I think I could get to a high 1:41 or low 1:42 if I gave it another dozen laps...

I am starting to get used to PC2 physics...

Still loving it.

Its a pretty normal car to drive once you do 100 thousand miles in it

Improved my time.

Made a few makes that i can improve my time base on not making them. 👍

simply amazing, especially for someone who has not driven this car and who is new to the game

I was certain you were going to be your best time and you’re probably going to do it again⭐️

You guys making my working days way harder! Have low hopes on this event, but high on my personal one challenge I have in my mind from a start. Hope to jump on tracks soon enough!

Is there any set up restrictions, or just to try the best of the best from the best?

I don’t believe I made any changes to the set up but I probably should. Maybe that will help me a little more

can’t wait to see your time

Completely off topic but I just watched an old video of Mark Webber in his redbull F1 going around Istanbul Park & I forgot how much I enjoyed that track in previous games through the years.

Although it was an F1 track, it was the right length to utilise all sorts of cars for an absolute blast.

This should've been in PC2, imagine in the dark or a thunderstorm or even snow :)

I loved that track, shame it's gone.

Sad times :(

If anyone was interested in Automobilista 2.
AMS 2 is basically Project Cars (3)Brasil. The three is in parenthesis because obviously it's not PC3 but could easily be called Project Cars Brasil. It's Project Cars 2 with an updated GUI and different content. Slightly updated graphics and better car feel although still suffers from the same issues that PC2's Madness engine displayed in car behavior. Same menu structure, car tuning, track assets and objects, HUD items, weather slots, multi-class.

If you're into PC2, you can jump right into AMS 2 and feel comfortable right off the bat. Hey, and just like PC2 from the beginning, there's bugs in this Beta too so you can feel right at home. :D
(couple to mention was one of the caterham's didn't start moving on a rolling start and the VW Beetle, or a car in that class, had LOD B with disappearing wheels when it got out a short distance from the player)

I’ve been following videos of that game on YouTube for the past couple of weeks and I would love to have it but I do everything on Console

Tried it and it was ok but a few things

Great track selection
Crappy car selection
Plus no P1 GTR

Car selection is fine considering looking at their roadmap and seeing all the FREE content they plan to provide. Good on them for that.

Feel is good. Feels very similar to my PC2 custom FFB profile right off the bat so was comfortable. I'll reserve total judgment after they determine what is their "official" ready release especially after finding two major bugs right on first couple of outings.
And not having a certain niche car, it'll be hard but we'll get by.

I'm in the same boat as @slthree i'm a console player i would be more then happy to buy it on console.

Cause like i said i loved the track selection and the fact that its plays like pc2 is a great plus.

While i love when a racing game has my favorite car it doesn't mean i cant enjoy a racing game without it.

Samples

Grid 2019
Assetto Corsa Competizione

;)

Ya, I hear that. On the opposite end though, consoles don't allow for those of us with direct drive wheels, button boxes and keyboards to use our equipment. It's kind of moving backwards instead of forwards.

Hopefully, with the power of the new systems this will change

That may as well be true and I'm hoping so for others but I'm personally not buying a console even if it were. Consoles have consistently been a bottle neck for sim racing with having watered down versions of the titles offered to them. And that's fine.
I happen to like sim racing though. I want the best level of immersion I can create or afford I guess for that matter. I wouldn't have sank $7500 in a rig just to hope that some console someone is making in the future allows me to use what I have if so and so company decides they're even going to release a version of their sim for console in the first place.

Wow! That’s a lot of coin to drop on a rig so you have to expect me to ask if you have any pictures of that thing? It’s got to be amazing

I know it sounds like a lot but really as crazy as it sounds, it's not a lot. No picture with me now (this is my work laptop) but Fanatec DD1, V3 pedals, shifter, podium Porsche wheel, clubsport GT Alcantara, rig chassis, racing seat, big part is the LG CX 55" TV. That's used for movies and TV though, not just the rig. That with computer and peripherals and hardware adds up quick and it doesn't even look that marvelous. Get's the job done though.
I may have "gone crazy" but then I look at people who sank double what I did into it and I feel at least a tad justified.

I got a mini 21 button keypad which I use like a button box on my XB1X with PC2.

Got a picture of it somewhere on GTPlanet, makes things a lot easier when using my wheel.

Here it is :)

Shoot, that works fine. That's how I used to do it too. I slowly added some of my hardware. You accumulate stuff over time, it's not all one drop in the bucket. I blame one of my friends with triple screens. He got sick of me coming over and quite frankly, I did too. lol
I knew I wanted my own and while I can't justify triples yet due to space, I'm happy with my midrange rig.
I live in Michigan, Auburn Hills where Chrysler is. LOTS of car guys in this area and lots of rigs to go along with that. Some of these guys rigs are astounding.

I think if I got a decent rig down the road then I'd probably go with an ultra wide as opposed to triples.
Can't stand the bezels.

You know, that's exactly what I said. I love triples but it's so expensive and the hardware to mount them and the space. I couldn't justify it. One big pancake I went with and I'm fine. I had to be able to use the screen for other games let alone regular watching.

Aah ok, the GTR indeed. Just did a 1:48.420 on stable default setup in the regular P1. Pretty darn fast car!
Been hotlapping various cars on Monza with the gamepad to get a benchmark time to aim for when I go for it properly with my new wheel.

Started with the Ford GT LM GTE. Was doing 1:56 but managed to get down to a 1:49.

Got a gaming monitor and am putting the wheel in the spare room so it doesn't get in the way in the living room ( missus says so haha )
Got a Xrocker Adrenaline gaming chair for £10 a while ago and a sound bar so it needs to go in the spare room really!!

I'll see what time I can get with the P1 later.

1st try with the P1 GTR, 2 laps in so far, default loose setup (surprisingly easier to control on loose compared to stable) controller, all aids off except abs on low, only a second'ish behind @Chikane (how many miles you done)

Must admit it's a bit of a twitchy mofo & it doesn't like to stop :)
If I dial in the settings to my liking or get my wheel out your in trouble

Edit: noticed your on practice where I just setup a race without AI, so no need to warm up tyres.
Not sure if it makes that much of a difference once up to temperature though.

Edit again: I'll admit in @Chikane defence "what does 150000 miles get you?" consistency!! That's what.

I find it hard in this car, it feels like a lot is going on in the background lap after lap, I tried with authentic aids & was 3 seconds slower (it was horrible) then I tried with just TC & it sucked the life out of the power (again slower).

So I took the aids off again, made some slight adjustments to the set up, put in a reasonable lap & that'll do :)

Holy Moly! This post should be a separate thread by itself and everyone who complains they cannot use a controller with this game should be automatically redirected to it.

Grumpy, you Rock

Well, I guess I did alright.

Default loose, no driving assists, controller. About 5 laps, first time ever in this car.

Next goes the same, but here slightly changed differential options and lowered breaks pressure to suit my style. 10 laps, including previous 5.

And last one, is a bonus. Personal challenge.
