A few minutes spare this evening so I thought I'd map a drs button and give it one more shot also using the electric juice boost properly.

Default loose set up.

I forgot to save the on-track screen. :dopey:

Probably room for improvement but Monza isn't one of my favourites!

Just thought Id chime in..

Controller user, stable setup just lowered the tire pressures a little. Took about 6 laps, tried to better it but gave up after about 20 goes!
Never drove this car before its deceptively fast.
I used the DRS function but the battery/electric motor is just always on, until it runs out, right ? Or can you activate manually ?

The drs activates automatically in 6th gear, but you can manually do it whenever you want, although you have to hold the button to keep it activated in the lower gears (also not advisable in 1st, 2nd or 3rd) especially coming out of a corner.

I mapped it to my B button (O on PS4) so I can hold it down while shifting up using the A button (X on PS4) with a flick of the thumb

The weird thing is the rear wing only moves when you manually press the drs, when it happens automatically in 6th the display says it's on but the wing don't move unless you push the button again although it's already activated.

This thing has way more grip than I expected from a (roadcar-based) Trackday class car, or based on the commentary here. Quite friendly for its speed -- I can see what you admire in it, @Chikane. :) I don't think I've ever driven it before, because it's not the F1. :P

You all are track monsters... Especially you playing with the controller!

Those sub 1:39 times looks crazy to me.... And I don't think I can get there...

But since everyone is doing it, I thought I give it another chance tonight.

Last time I did it on the loose setup, and this time I switch to stable setup.

I am quite happy with myself but compare to all of you, it would seem I am still holding myself back and driving a but too conservatively.

It takes about a lap and a half to have the tires warmed up, but until then the car is loose and just want to kill me and throw me into the walls at each corner like a Mustang

After 2 dozen laps, I am settling at a low 1:41, a huge improvement over my first time. I really didn't think I could be here... Total surprise.

But now I think I can be in the low 1:40 or high 1:39.
That would be my absolute best if I continue a few more dozen laps :banghead::scared:

I really have a much better appreciation for those of you rocking with the pad/controller.
I have never tried playing PC2 with a controller, but why would I ?

I will give it another try tomorrow/today once I am refreshed.

I have been playing with my FFB, and this is what I am settled on right now, I am ok with it, but I think there is better... I will tweak some more and see how it goes...
Going back an forth between GTS and PC2, I find the GTs FFB to be really really good and heavy the way I like.

I am loving this!

Only got the wheel a few days ago and apart from when I set it up to make sure it worked, then a little test, yesterday was the first proper go with it.
I lowered some of the FFB settings to where I can feel them but it's not wrenching the wheel from my hands.
In time I'm sure I'll alter that.
I tell you what, as much as I like the gamepad, which I've used forever, I'm loving the wheel. And you said I would. Now I'm not going to slag the controller off now I've got a wheel cos the controller is very usable and some of the best times bear this out.
If I didn't have a wheel I'd still be enjoying the game.
It does get your arms going mind you, a more involving experience than sat with the pad lol

Back to the time trial lol. After hotlapping in GT3 cars I tried the P1. Wow, how much earlier you have to brake! Once you're more dialled in ( relatively )
I managed a 1:39, I think there's a bit more time for me cos I'm not attacking some kerbs. The right turn on the second chicane is a bugger if you catch it and the second Lesmo kerb is quite high in this game. Quite low in Assetto Corsa.

More to come I'm sure.

I think the trouble is breaks. Seeing how much locking happening on other cars, McLaren seems very soft in this regard. And if you can handle with power in many ways, there is not much to do with breaks.

Wonder if that was a one time event, though.

Never driven the P1 GTR before (or the standard car for that matter) and I'm really surprised by how friendly it is - obviously you have to be careful on the throttle in the lower gears or it WILL kill you, but 1000hp will do that - but beyond that it's really nicely driveable :) 1:37.387 for me - Xbox360 pad on PC, Loose setup with ABS high and everything else off.

My lap...

I don’t know why but I enjoy watching other peoples videos even more than I enjoy driving in this game. Well, I think I do know why.

are you using the helmet cam with look to Apex? There’s someone else who uses that review and I was wondering about it. I have never used it but I want to try to use it but I don’t even know where to begin setting it

EDIT: Fantastic time, by the way

You don't have to set up anything for the helmet view...
Just switch to it... The standard setting is pretty good already, you will barely notice the difference...

It actually feels very natural... At first I didn't know it was there... Barely.

I have been using cockpit view, but if I want a notch higher in term of immersion, that's what I would choose short of not having VR.

I'm using VR so no look to apex, that would fry my brain! The funny thing about the view is that I used to be a die hard chase cam user but I made the switch to cockpit some years ago (before I got VR) and now I just can't drive in chase view at all.

If you use helmet cam but don't like the muffled sound I think you can disable the 'helmet' but keep the look to apex.
I think that's the case.?

That's right. The "display helmet" option whatever it's called also controls the audio filter for the muffling. I run with it off because I don't like either of them. I turned look-to-apex up pretty high but then I like a lot of head movement in general, I think I've turned most of those options up at least some. A lot of people don't like the viewpoint moving around so much or at all. Of course you can turn the G-movement down or off and just keep the look-ahead if you like.

Look-to-apex is rather disconcerting at some pit entries when it thinks you should be staying on track until it suddenly realizes you're in the pit lane, and it gets briefly confused by some Joker routes in rallycross, but other than that I like it a lot. It makes the driving feel a bit more dynamic, it focuses more on where I'm looking anyway, and if I have a mirror I can just about almost see on that side it brings it fully into view when I need it most and don't want to be hitting the look button. If your FoV is high enough you can sometimes track a car alongside you in a corner without having to turn your head which was nice but that doesn't really happen for me anymore... it doesn't turn that far.

I prefer a fixed angle with a healthy amount of G-movement to convey the motions of the car. I hope the next game has better G-movement, with view translation opened up to all three axes -- longitudinal motion for torque and braking, vertical Gs, and lateral motion for cornering forces. Live for Speed's cockpit view is the benchmark, IMO. So communicative. 👍

Not a fan of to much G movement, maybe if the gear changes were toned down a bit I'd use it but that puts me off, so I only have it 25 maximum.

A gear change shouldn't cause that much G effect compared to hard braking from 200+mph

Not saying it shouldn't cause any but it's a bit over exaggerated.

Can't have world movement on 100 either, 75 maximum for a bit of fluidity (sometimes 50) no one drives a car as stiff as a corpse  there's a little bit of body/head movement going on when you go over bumps & crests in real life.

Also noticed G force effects are about 25% stronger in helmet cam as opposed to cockpit cam

Tried helmet cam today, and it takes a lot of time to get used to. Most of the time its like you on a shaking boat:). Especially when you need control sides, and then head eventually goes opposite direction, you trying to do both, but here comes another turn. This feature for sure cool for time attacks on an empty track.

If you haven't already, try using helmet cam with look to apex at zero but with camera leaning set quite high. Not quite lateral but it gives a good sense of motion through the corners. This doesn't affect cockpit cam.

What settings?

Put everything on 50 at first, see how it goes.
100 look to apex is a bit much imo.

As I said in the above post I have a maximum of 75 for World movement & 25 for G force.

But yeh go 50 all through & see how you get on then just set each 1 to your liking.

Like @IfAndOr says you can set camera tilt quite high (which I used to do) but then I found it a bit much on some cars so I lowered it.

High settings on camera leaning and look to apex! I'd spend more time trying to control my stomach than control the car.

I have LtA set fairly low. It's only at 7 I think just to give a smoothing effect to the camera leaning - which I quite like at 60.

7? I find it hardly hardly moves at 50, with fov 75.

If you got half a wing mirror showing on a straight it only looks enough at 50 to see the full wing mirror.

I used to have everything at 75 which you can see in this video is a bit much. (row row row your boat )

But now I've reduced it all to 50 which you can see is a bit more subtle.

Which reminds me, this setting also depends on your original fov to begin with (and seat position I think)

So if you have a wide fov then there's not much LTA compared to a shallow fov regardless of your LTA setting.
