Yeah, weirdly they both upgraded and downgraded the graphics at the same time. It's definitely runs smoother now on the PS5 though which helps a lot.
Yeah they added a lot of stuff into the backgrounds and trackside, but at the same time there's waaaaay more aliasing than PC2, which can be jarring especially with a full grid and certain weather conditions. Visuals aren't everything though, of course! I appreciate the improved handling but really miss the sim aspects they took out (damage, pits, tyre wear, fuel etc). I read from a Dev that they dumbed down the AI drastically in 3 so I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with the behaviours that you mentioned.

Oddly enough, probably the best combo for PC3 is Xbox Series X hooked to a gaming 1080p monitor (my current experimental setup, I usually play on an LG C1), as the game, unlike PC2, was neither optimized for PS4 Pro/Xbox One X nor the new generation of consoles (whose processors basically brute force the whole thing.) Blame it on the pandemic, economics (they were sold to Codemasters soon after) or wasting resources on that Fast and Furious game... :banghead:

Anyway, the thing I'm looking for that neither these two games have is the AI make a mistakes on their own during the race, outside of just a dust up on turn one of lap one.
Saw your post earlier, and didn't said anything, but can assure you that in ACC I saw a lot of it, much more than in any racing game. Have bots on 93 skill and 90 aggression and sometimes they do so much of amazing stuff. First off they unlike bots in PC2 are overtaking each other, it may depend on conditions and situation, but top 5 is usually have a lot of battles, not sure about other grid. Also through races in Single Player not only have yellow flag sectors, but myself seen them crashing into each other, missing break points, cutting track. On tracks like Mount Panorama it ever can all turn into dramma pretty quick. So it is not all ture, that bots in ACC are sterille like in PC2. Not to mention in ACC bots really can drive along you the whole race without turning into your line, this is what every other game I played lacks the most.

Not in PC2 so much, they are a bit predictable. But if that's a typo and you meant PC3 then yes they most certainly seem to do those things you mentioned, more so in some car & track combinations than others.
I usually start at the back and try to make my way forward at least a few spaces and I often pass some AI who've had an incident. Low aggression and high skill is usually the way to go for a good race.
Great catch, my friend! It was a typo and I did mean PC3

I have no reason to believe what you're telling me is untrue. It's just I haven't seen anything like it. I certainly agree that the AI act properly in ACC. For the most part, they drive wonderfully.

I'm wondering if there is a threshold to settings that make the AI make more mistakes, like the ones you are seeing and I'm not.

I play in Championship mode with 85 AI Skill and 75 Aggression. Are my settings too low to see those mistakes?

This I don't know for sure, but you at least can try. But at 94 skill AI destroys me in terms of times, so I guess every 1 point is a huge change to their behavior in general. Also you may try different year, because I saw this only in 2021 season grid single race or weekend, and never in career mode, which haven't even properly started yet, which uses older cars and they are somewhat different.

I may as well just get the season pass.

Maybe heresy but never been the biggest Porsche fan so could leave those - Ferrari is another matter. Must have the F40, F355 and Berlinetta.
I like Porsches and Ferraris but I'm not either's biggest fan. It's good to have them to relive moments for your custom races though. So, it's woorth it to have them even if you don't use them. However, one day, you might just try one. ;)

I tell you another thing this game has going for it. For my money one of the best DLC packs in sim racing history, The Spirit of Le Mans DLC. I have my highest mileage on the classic Circuit de la Sarthe. My highest mileage on any car is the Ferrari 512 S. It's just so awesome to be blasting down the Mulsanne at 230mph.

Getting the season pass will also give you the extra Motorsports pack - with the Panoz!

And to those who haven't got it already, don't forget the Japanese pack while you can still get it. You have to pay extra for it, but it's only a small amount. There's some interesting cars in there. The (group A) Skyline GT-R is worth it by itself. It's a blast to drive.

I've just treated myself to a shiny new PS5 and very nice it is too. Now despite all these AAA graphically splendid super duper PS5 titles the first game I installed on it was... PC2. It says something for its longevity.

I must say it runs very nicely too, smooth even with more cars on track, and the AI seem better behaved as well. Broken and unplayable, hmm!

The second game I installed was actually PC3 which also benefits similarly from the extra oomph. It's AI @slthree often come together and have off track moments. I'm not sure if it's programmed, it seems random, but it does make it more interesting.
Lucky you picked one up now, sony are raising the price come September 15th apparently.

Sony hikes price of PS5 in Europe, Japan, and more

Game was supposed to come today but the posties are on strike. This is why I've gone digital!
Was hoping to spend the Bank Holiday learning to drive a proper sim (vs the GT7 compromise).
Oh well, hopefully it turns up sometime next week.

Safe to say that other than America, all regions have received the price increases.

Anyway, I have also picked up the used German copy of PC2. It's so cheap it's a no brainer.

I'm looking to get Project Cars 1 and right they only have the regular edition on the PS Store. I have seen it eBay but there's a couple different versions. I'm assuming the GOTY version and the complete version both have all of the DLC right .Jst trying to figure out how much I need to spend

Goty edition has all the dlc. I suggest getting that.

I enjoy playing 1 and 2. I find 1 much more easier than 2. 2 is really hard but I still enjoy it. 1 is much more forgiving while 2 is not.

Whereas personally I'd say it was the other way around.. I found that is really hard to catch oversteer on 1, 50% of the time I end up in the tire barrier.

The main thing I miss from PC1 is the GT86 and its variants. Just an absolutely perfect(if slow) car to drive. Whatever they did to it in PC2 took all of the fun out of it for me.

this is of course coming from someone who's never driven the real one

Thanks for letting me know i maybe getting a ps5 soon so its nice to know pcars 2 works even better on it.

My thoughts on PC2 and the delisting, but mainly on PC2.

While you can still buy the game disk version the dlc will also get delisted and to me pcars 2 just isn't a complete game without all the dlc

I really wish I had the space and the forethought to have kept the Fanatec wheel that PC2 recognized. Because playing the game with a wheel that the game doesn't recognize is a mess. You're just hanging on for dear life with most cars. There's so much play in the wheel steering can be a nightmare. You can't get much feedback from curbs etc.

But with that being said, it's still a good game to play occasionally.

I'm used to run pars 2 on PS4 pro and PS5, but thanks to my new drivehub I've try it as well on Xbox série X and well, it is much cleaner and detailled, less flicker, more details in the scenery and less jaggy shadows with a increased resolution, on my 4k TV this make a difference, so I'm back again in Pcars 2 !
Too bad the dlc are going to be delisted as well and this is too expensive to buy the dlc twice (I already own then on ps)

And BTW T300RS with drivehub works like a charm, no differences in ffb between booth systems, in fact I found the ffb on the Xbox to be less "brutal" and it is more to my taste
If you own both systems just try the demo and see the difference for yourself

The one thing that really annoys me about PC2 that they were never able to fix is how the AI has much, MUCH, better braking ability than you do. I was driving classic Hockenheim last night first in the Ford Mk IV, then the Porsche 908 Spyder, and then the Ferrari 512M. I got banged around at both of the chicanes and got flat smashed off of the track a couple of times. I have to start braking way back to get the car slow enough to make those chicanes but the AI just zooms right on by somehow still makes the chicane. But if you're in front of them.....BANG they try to drive right through you.

At Vintage LeMans I have to make sure at the end of Mulsanne straight I'm in the right lane trying to brake because they always fly by on the left hand side.

I also tried driving Road America in GTE which was another adventure because the AI doesn't lift through the kink and will knock you off the road. The first turn at Daytona Road Course is the same thing, you're probably going to be hit in the rear by an AI that doesn't have to brake as early as you do.

It's those types of things that they never really fixed that keeps the game from being 5 star for me and just knocks it down a bit.
