Project CARS 2 PS4 Pro Enhancements Detailed

Full HDR TV support yes.

Well, thank you, finally 👍

Here why is it so important to me (and others that asked) - Sony were recently first in the world to release a line of very affordable BRAVIA TV's with, 1080p, yet with top quality HDR.

Perfect for tv that will become second tv in couple of years once next gen of consoles arrives (and 4k tech further improvements) - and price drops!

So it's a financial decision, not so small never the less.

Very disappointing to see that HDR was left out on the PS4. That means GT Sport will be the only racing game with it.

Would be nice to have some confirmation as I am seeing reports on YouTube reviews and comment sections that there is no HDR on PS4.

Unless @IanBell (SMS's Exec) was not accurate , I'd say those people are missing something. But I can't confirm either of the possibilities because I don't have PC2 or an HDR monitor atm.

True, it could be hidden in one of the video settings menus. Usually the HDR is either on by default or they beat you over the head with it like in Uncharted when you boot it up for the first time. May not be the case here. I hope it's really in there as it was announced to be a feature on PS4.

That review from ACG is quite misleading, in my opinion. ACG makes a huge issue out of the shadow graphics bug, which actually only exists in replays and is getting fixed very soon. ACG claims that FFB is bad without saying why - considering how poorly the guy drives, I doubt he has real racing experience and therefore isn't really qualified to judge FFB realism. And finally, his statement regarding HDR not being present on PS4 also appears to be wrong.

Trackside enhancements, better shadows, higher resolution etc are fine. But I would forgo any of these to have a solid, 100% locked screen tear-free 60fps on the Pro. Frame rate is paramount for me. I've seen frame rate issues and screen tearing all over the place on Standard PS4 PC2 videos on YT.

Could Mr Bell confirm this is better on the Pro?

I have a PS4 Pro and PC2 on Pre-order, and looking forward to it.

Is thread about "Project CARS 2 PS4 Pro Enhancement Detailed" appropriate thread to calmly ask is there HDR support in pCARS 2?

Or is there not?

If it is not, I apologize to forum and moderators can delete this...

OK, how many times do you have to be shown the answer to this? It is VERY clearly stated on their website in the FAQ section.

Apologies to others, but I don't think I am the only one getting tired of seeing you ask this same question 25 times in 20 different threads.

You are both late and misinterpreting my question, as you can see in my quote of my self ERLIER in this same thread (thanking to Ian after his answer)! As well as quite rude. Look into my post for legitimate reason to be highly interested...

ALSO... Only until it gets answered. Form of my questions was always calm, so learn to Chill, dude... Smdh

I also have the review paperwork and it states no HDR on ps4 and pro and to look at the xbox one as the example of what it will be like. So not sure what anyone else is saying. Most likely some mistake. Also 2 others with paperwork stated the same thing. Actual copy of the review guide "PS4: HDR is not enabled in the review build at this time.

Where is your review?

oops, after watching it I hope that 1080p output from PS4 Pro will have better performance than 4k output ... I will gladly sacrifice downsampling for more stable 60 fps
I hope we get the option, I'd rather get rid of the horrible jaggies rather than having a few frames dropping here and there.

Pro is pretty much a locked 60 yes. As is PS4 (albeit at a lower res).

There are no 'horrible jaggies' either in normal gameplay. I saw one image in another thread where the AA seemed to miss the vehicle and only hit the background and suspect a photomode glitch. Edit, it was earlier in this thread.

Appreciate your reply. Thanks. Looking forward to the game immensely.

If output on PRO is set to 1080p (I don't have a 4k TV) how is the image rendered? I mean, is it rendered at 4k and downsampled to 1080p or is the video renedred at 1080p?

I dont think were getting super samsampling as its been asked alot but never answered. If not hopefully its patched in as no reason not to have it.

Sorry but I didn't understand your answer.
However I hope on a 1080p TV it is possible to avoid downsampling (for performance reason). In the new videos captured on PS4 PRO showing fps analysis (from gamersyde channel) I see also some tearing but it's not reported if the source was 4k or 1080p. I hope it was 4k and in case output resolution is set to 1080p the rendering is at 1080p and not downsampled from 4K.

There is no reason why PCars cannot do both. 1440p down sampled or 1080p for that extra 2fps your after. Most of the time Ian has said it's locked 60fps so for myself i'd much rather have the down sampling.

Yep, options are good to have, I've seen drops to 40ish fps in the Gamersyde video, so if rendering in 1080p can help, I would go for that. Of course question is if the game is CPU bound or GPU bound while these drops occur, if CPU bound, rendering in a lower resolution will probably not help. Digital Foundry will test both outputs so I will wait for that.

Jeez i didnt realise the drops were that bad. Yeah 1080p with better performance i could live with then. Everything that tends to be wrong with the PS4 is CPU bound :)
