Project CARS 3 Developer Blog Explains New Tire Physics, Confirms Pit Stops Are History

Ah, right. Thanks @Matt Stephens.

So it's just this one casual remark on a social media platform from I.B. - who should be known to most for (understandably) bigging up his products - that with the blog reveal has caused a lot of contention. By a large margin it's hardly a case of "stop calling it..." is it? No wonder he's kept a lower profile!

It's a bit like Kaz saying some feature is coming to GT "soon". He seems to have stopped saying that. :)

If it was official marketing on the website or box you might have more to complain about. But even then it would be down to what is defined as "Sim". (Let's not go over that again ;))

Anyway enjoy the rest of your Sunday. 👍
It's not just a casual remark from Mr. Bell I'm afraid. The mods on the official forum are hell-bent on defending the statement.

I think it would really help their case if they could show us a preview video showcasing what the new game offers. From just reading blog entries without seeing anything doesn’t seem to be doing them many favours on the face of it.

To be honest I kind of welcomed the direction of making the game more streamlined and immersive in its career mode, plus it being more accessible for controller players straight out the box. But that said I still expected at its core to be a full on sim like its predecessors.

I do feel like it’s a bit of a disappointment that there’s no pit stops in the game as the majority of other on-track racing games feature them, even if they’re classed as sim-cade. I guess I need to see how it all works in the new game before writing it off completely, but that said I feel like I want to see a lot more before I’m willing to pre order or purchase.

Hopefully we’ll get to see some more gameplay and deeper dives into features and how everything comes together in the new game pretty soon. Guess we’ll see.

Mods aren't really part of the official marketing though, however I expect they'd wished he worded it differently. They probably have him chained up somewhere, only to be let go after the game is released :P

My thoughts too really. Some disappointment, but I'm still interested enough to watch further developments without jumping to early conclusions.

Not really given that I’ve repeatedly voiced only my own view, not told anyone else that the view they hold is invalid or that they should be playing another title.

But go you....

Same here mate I just detest menu's so less salt please...

So if you buy a car, you go out and change the brake bias and tire pressure first thing? I imagine you'd probably go out and adjust the suspension too.

Yes I do, and if talk about racing cars those have much greater impact overall, so this is first and easiest thing to do. Checking tire pressure is actually gold standard rule of maintaining a car.

‘Menus yawn’ could be read as anyone who likes tweaking setups is boring, exactly the kind of tribal attitude you were rallying against.

No thats how you read it my friend, I'd appreciate not being patronised "go you" (I have not done it you have I?). I stated I like all driving games and preferred driving to menu's, which I find boring not by extension anyone else. Perhaps stay off the forums when you're hungover.

Pretty sure the mods on the SMS forum are somehow associated with the business end of things. There's no let up and absolutely no deviating, even the slightest, from what Mr. Bell said. But I shouldn't really tell you this as the forum is free and open for all (until you get the ban-hammer for saying that it feels like the weight transfer in a given car shows some odd behavior) and you can go check for yourself and see that I'm not making stuff up.

However you do understand that’s how it could be read, i’m not hungover and you don’t get to suggest people stay off the forums.

Oh and you seem to have forgotten about the ‘ironic’ dig you made as well, your actions and attitude are no different than those you have been complaining about.

Rubbish.
I love the strategy of pit stops tire wear etc in PC2.PC3 just another arcade racer game . Iracing here I come.
Such a shame to abandon there hardcore fans.

Completely off topic - have you tried R3E?. The FarceBerk group I drive with use it exclusively for our 6 week racing seasons.

I never suggested you were Flerbizky. It's just that I'd need to see this "full on Sim" in the direct marketing to the public before railing against the claim.

The way I look at it is this. If I buy the game and find it not exactly to my liking I'd say "oh well, perhaps I shouldn't have bothered" and I'd be out of pocket. Although I suspect it's got a complete change in direction for me to not get at least some enjoyment from it. However if the game turns out to be really pretty good, maybe very good, I'd look a bit foolish if I couldn't play it because I'd come on here and said "I'm not going to buy it". I'm just keeping an open mind. :)

Anyway, time for a late lunch!

Quit being an elitist and let people enjoy a game that maybe, just maybe, might feel like you're driving a car in real life.

Some people enjoy being able to adjust or try to adjust settings. It doesn't mean that everyone does it in real life.
It's not people being elite so you can get off that standpoint.

Even spending hours and hours fine tuning a virtual car doesn't make you an elitist. Saying that people who don't want to should go play NFS does.

Oh look, another elitist comment. Why don't you go to the iracing section then since this game is just going to be an "arcade racer"

Oh wait, you'll probably end up buying it anyway and hopefully choke on the humble pie. But you probably wont admit it on these forums, since you're apparently in a higher echelon than us

I love the same, that doesn’t make PC3 an arcade title, but it does blur the lines of exactly who it appeals to.

You see if your going to keep trying to throw that back at me you will have to actually support it with evidence.

Someone with no skin in the game would look at this thread and be amused.

Why fight?

Based on the information we have right now, It’s not a sim. That’s a fact. Some tried, futility, to argue with me that it still is sim. I decided to ignore those comments and not argue the point because the fact is unchanged by another’s contrary opinion.

My son in law raced at a high level for years. He assured me this game is not sim. Interestingly, he doesn’t like to race sim games. While he says that PC2 is sim, he doesn’t like the work involved. He actually plays Forza On Xbox or GTS on PS4 when he wants a racing fix. He doesn’t believe Forza is Sim but loves it and while he can talk for hours on the faults of GTS, he believes it to be a sim, though flawed.

Some will love the simplicity of PC3. Some won’t. Who cares? We shouldn’t insult those who will play it. And, those who will play it shouldn’t attempt to justify why they believe its sim. That a hill they’ll die on.

Every game, regardless of genre has fans, detractors, and neutrals. This is no different.

EDIT: I neglected to mention that he may actually buy PC3 if the handling of the new Corvette is authentic. He owns the C7. He doesn’t care if it’s sim as long as he can throw that car around. Go figure

EDIT 2: I’m so going to miss that hopeless feeling of exasperation caused by my pit crew informing me of an unexpected mechanical issue, especially when it costs me a chance at podium. I’m rarely in position for podium so it’s a special kind of painful.

I'll put this on again....at the end of the tunnel PCars3 disappearing up it's own chuff.

Guys, case closed. Its not a sim because this guy said so!

And yet GTS is?

I've been quiet in this thread for a while but this post did amuse me.

You must realize by now that 99% of the thread and the community do not agree with you. There is only one other poster in this entire forum who agrees with you so you might want to consider stopping because you’re not highlighting yourself in an intellectual fashion

Keeping the fight going is both ignorant and unnecessary

I'm not allowed to have an opinion on an open discussion forum? Don't question my intellectual credentials based on what I want to look at and talk about. 'Sim' is a broad term, what everyone believes is or isn't a sim will differ based on a huge number of variables. Is this game going to drive like a sim, will it simulate realistic driving dynamics? Well yes, i believe everything is certainly pointing that way, just read dev blog 2 to see what kind of detail is in the engine. Is it accurately simulating motorsport? Depends on the motorsport, but its certainly simulating some aspects.

I will have, and continue to voice my own opinion based on my own view of the game and what I see in it. I really don't care how many people agree with me, i really don't care if you agree with me, I'm well beyond the point where I care about trying to talk to people about sim credentials because "99%" of this forum have already made their mind up. And that's absolutely fine. Im still going to buy it, if the game fails to deliver on its documented promises then I'll be disapponted, if it delivers, others will be missing out.

I agree with you on this, only time will tell once it's launched what it is actually like to play and features it has.

I'm put off by the claims and what's been said, but at the end of the day it's another racing game, sim or not that's at our disposal and allowing others access to what we all enjoy, cars zooming around
