Now, does the game calculate different fuel usage when the car in in Neutral versus coasting? That would be an interesting test. IRL, Neutral burns fuel and coasting burns none.
Only the H patterns could test that I'd think, since the sequential doesn't allow down shifting past 1 when moving.

No what he meens is coasting in gear. If u ingauge the cluch when the car is moving the engine will idle like will in neutral!

The engine will not burn fuel when you are coasting in gear because the driveshaft will be turning the engine not the explosions inside the engine!

You can't catch up to people under yellow flags, a yellow flag is to caution a driver of an incident or debris ahead....

And they run yellow flags when they bring out a safety car...so you're being a bit pedantic. Caution periods do absolutely allow the field to bunch up (occasionally allowing lapped traffic to unlap itself) and it allows you to pit with far less of a penalty than under green-flag conditions. Again, a short or extended caution period would also help you to save fuel -- sometimes making a difference if you're going to end up a lap short.

It's a huge thing that's missing from the game. Also, if you don't like it, have an option to turn it off. But don't try to tell other players what will and won't waste their time.

I never said you can't "bunch up the field" under a caution period, I said those only exist in oval racing, and have nothing to do with the racing in Pcars. I never tried to tell other players anything buddy so you can get your knickers out of a twist. The game doesn't need American racing rules until it has oval racing, and then it'll only benefit oval racing.

Caution periods/yellows don't only exist in oval racing...so I'm not entirely sure what you're on about. ELMS, Tudor, Formula 1...all of these have safety cars/cautions/yellows which can bunch up the field.
Yeah, I mean, on some courses with tire stacks in the apexes where the AI often messes up and smack into one.

Well, tying into the desire for yellow flags/safety cars etc...it would be nice to see the AI occasional stuff it and break the car properly. I've seen it a few times, but not often.
I mainly see them screw up in heavy rain in GT1X and classic GT1 (aka the GT40 Mk.IV).

A caution period is not the same as a yellow flag. Yellow flags are in the game, the AI just pays no attention to them and they rarely come out due to AI cars teleporting to pits as soon as they crash.

To add a safety car to the game would require a **** load of work that is much better used making what is currently in the game work properly. The safety car would add nothing to the game, as it'd just force everyone to stack behind it, and make a pit stop, just like when a safety car comes out in F1 games. Then you have to sit behind it for ages bored out of your mind not racing in a racing game. Safety cars are great for safety in real life, but in a game they are boring.

I have never seen the safety car being referred to as a caution period in F1 or any other Euro motorsport. Only in American series have I seen that phrase.

Seriously, you're asking for a feature that would take a lot of work and add sweet fa to the game, when there are about a million things that need attention before that...

What? So when the caution period comes out,I'm assuming you see yellow flags or lights in any racing series in the world. Correct? In my 45 years of watching Motorsports, yellow flag, yellow lights are a caution. It's not limited to American racing. Here maybe this could enlighten you,no pun intended. http://www.formula1-dictionary.net/flag.html

A yellow flag in F1 means take care due to an incident ahead. This can last for one corner, two corners, three corners, etc. all the way upto the full track. Normal racing resumes at the next green flag, which could be 100 yards further on.

A caution, as those in North America call it, is called a safety car period in the rest of the world. This can be a real or virtual safety car and does limit the field to a certain speed by either a physical safety car driving slowly in front of the entire field or by all cars driving to a delta displayed on their steering wheel.

A yellow flag is entirely different to a caution.

To international folk outside the U.S., in all forms of motorsport we have Safety Car periods and local yellows like everyone else. Only stockcar and oval racing series call it a caution and have a "pace car". We know very well what a bloody local yellow is and what a SC and VSC period are.

There is 42 cars racing in Nascar,on a half mile to a 2 mile oval, think about that for a moment. I'm well aware of the displays on F1 cars as they don't want Marshalls getting hit with debris etc.

Here is a prime example of a caution gone wrong, with a safety car with yellow lights on,they look pretty packed up to me.

Here is another one with no safety car,yes its Nascar and an ex F1 driver to boot.I guess they should have put yellow lights on his wheel. Not that a big ole truck with a jet motor and lights wasn't good enough

We all understand local yellows. However, in every form of motorsport I've seen, a safety car or caution period includes full track yellow-flags - or identical conditions. For instance, even on the TV screens, when a safety car is released in Formula 1 (ie. the entire field packs up and runs behind the safety car) the accompanying flags and icons on the screen are yellow.

And yes, I'm asking for a full safety car option in PCars.

I'm not sure Project CARS would be able to create something as advanced as yellow flag systems and safety car periods. They're already just holding on with the game as it is from being wrecked with countless bugs. Yellow flag systems would further complicate the system. Maybe with a massive injection of funds into the game, they might be. But they don't really have the budget of the likes of Gran Turismo (PD) or FIFA (EA) which ironically don't seem to do much with those funds.

Finally tried out the new DLC today after playing FIFA16 non-stop. It's probably my favourite update/DLC so far, I'm really having a blast around that test track! The Aston Martin GTE is a beautiful car to drive as well! Pity there doesn't seem to be a pit lane in sight as I kept on running out of fuel! Even a service station would do! Great to have a big open area where I can properly practice drifting as well. I sort of wished the drag strip was longer as I can't reach top speed on that stretch.

Like I said, adding a safety car to the game would be far too much work for such a small gimmick. It's fine for the F1 games that had it, as they were designed to have the safety car from the get-go. Adding something like a safety car to an already finished game would be a real pain in the ass, and would take programmers away from more important things.

Yellow flags, are already in the game, so that is something they can make work better without so much work as a safety car. I'll say it again, I think they just need to make the AI obey the flags that are already in the game, and most players will be happy. As it is, the AI don't alter their behaviour when a yellow or blue flag is out, which makes the whole flag system in the game completely pointless.

Hopefully the OP is correct on DLC names and our speculations of it being the Toyota & Mitsubishi Macau pack are right. I would love to race around Macu at the end of the month :D:D:D.
