Ok, What I want to know is,
How the Freak do you Sim Race on a Mobile device?

Don't you have to Like Rotate or twist the Device?

Mobile Sim racing, can't be a serious thing? can it?

Real Racing 3 tried, but it was a dumpsterfire of microtransactions and stupid progression choices. It had potential if it was unshackled from its greedy ways.

That game wasn't even especially realistic, but it's the closest thing we've gotten to a true mobile racing sim so far.

There's also that Assolluto Racing game that was shown on GTPlanet before, but that's pretty much just a time trial simulator.

Surely this same engine could be used to make a Project CARS game for the Nintendo Switch? The Switch has an ARM-based architecture like smartphones, and with proper controls. And again, like last time on Wii U, the platform is wide open for a realistic racing game (however much of a sim this version may be). Only this time it's a console that could plausibly usurp the lead in terms of hardware units sold. ;)

If it was pretty much exactly like PCARS2, I would be tempted to double-dip just because of the ease of transporting the Switch, if I'm going to be away from home overnight or longer. If this "vehicle customization" hints at some more differences, that could be very compelling. Mobile though? Screw that, even if I had a smartphone, which I don't and would rather never have.

Another thought -- Switch or mobile, if SMS played their cards right they could conceivably steal a good chunk of GT Sport's thunder in Japan, because Japan is apparently all about portable gaming now.

And no one made a single news about that? Strange
Actually, I do remember that. I figured he was obviously joking, and probably almost everyone else did too. I mean, it's a joke of a name for the game.

Mobile = The biggest threat to console gaming, especially console racers.

Eventually, it won't be about getting revenue to support the console title. It will be about getting folks to make as many in app purchases as possible.

If it has customization options for cars, then I think they're simply using the mobile game to develop a customization mechanic for use in the next major release.

If we can use the motion sensors of our phones to steer the cars though, that would be pretty damn cool, I don't expect physics nearly as accurate as real life, but it could be fun, you never know eh?

They could go down that route, but would Porsche stop making cars like the 718 and 911 because the Macan, Panamera and Cayenne are the most popular and profitable models? Brand identity is just as important as being able to turnover a profit, especially to developers with a long history in the console market industry. Branching out to the mobile market shouldn't be seen as a threat if it helps with development costs for bigger projects.

Long as this mobile game doesn't interfere with development of PCARS 3 and the continue support for pcars 2 i'm all for it :) I love anything pcars and i can wait to see gameplay
of the p1 gtr.
:D

I tried that with (I think) RR3. Steering with your mobile device seems like a great idea, but the lack of feedback plus the screen moving around was too much for me. I couldn't do anything without tons of driving aids on, and by then it's more the computer driving than me so what's the point?

Ironically, my experience with NFS Shift on the Wii (with "floating controller" steering wheel) was so positive, I thought mobile would be perfect. So far it hasn't materialized.

Actually, I think a sort of GT5-style B-spec setup might work good on mobile, with lots of driver development, customization, and player involvement in the racing.

Exactly my first thought when I seen this. Even more so when you consider Namco Bandai are in love with the system.

I don't give a crap about playing games on my phone but a competent PCARS lite on Switch? I'm already there.

If a pcars for the switch was announced it would make me buy a switch instantly :D and i'm not even into portable gaming that much but the thought of pcars on the go would be to much to pass up. :)

I've actually thought it would be cool to have a mobile game like this to help learn tracks. While the mobile game would seriously be lacking in the "sim" category, it could still be a fun way to pass the time when your away from your racing rig. Seat time is the number one thing I lack when trying to learn a track I don't have much experience on. And this would definitely help me to memorize track layouts. Like someone else said, as long as it doesn't mean we'll lose future development on console games - I'm all for it. I'd even be willing to purchase the game if it meant it wouldn't be overwhelmed with micro-transactions.

So is this going to be like Ingress or Pokemon Go PvP, but with drag racing in real world traffic? I should get a patent on that idea.

@IanBell Out of interest, is it possible to run pCARS 2 physics engine fully on top ARM-based SoCs like the Apple A11 or Snapdragon 845 if ported over or is there something lacking in architecture that will prevent this?

Or an Nvidia Tegra X1? ;)
