I've been playing GT5P less and less as time goes on. I understand that it is a demo and I should not expect updates at all.... But I do. KY said in an interview that one of the key reasons GT5P is coming so late is because he wants to update Prologue until it is very similar to the final game (damage, car customization etc). Upon hearing this I thought "that's cool, it will just gradually blend into GT5 seemlessly", but so far this doesn't seem to be happening.

I'm just worried that we will lose a lot of fellow players(on top of the losses already) just because of the way GT5P seems to be stagnating.

Does anyone know of upcoming updates? What are your thoughts?

I agree bud! so looking forward to GT5 full version 👍 but GT5P is long past being boring and repetative as hell with it's limitations on tracks and cars :(

We defo got our money's worth for a demo yep .. but it's all the same now and enoughs enough! we need some major update to inject a bit of new life into this or an early release of the finished product, just don't go holding your breath ;)

We all feel like you, buddy... But we are all kept in the dark as well. We don't know anything about new updates, but it's time we got a new one, that's for sure.

Definitely agree. At this point, I'd take anything they add on. I'd throw a party if they announce petite and unsignificant things like "On Valentimes day, we will be announcing a release date for a new game update. The update will include functioning reverse lights."

I would go bananas. Hell, add a Geo Metro to the extensive car list that we currently have, and I'll buy 10 more copies of GT5:P. Promise.

Haha craste - you seem to show a good sense of humour about yourself at times :)

I too thought we would see more significant or regular updates to Prologue. That was the impression I got from Kaz in early interviews. It hasn't turned out quite how I imagined. Perhaps:

- he said nothing of the sort and its all been exaggerated by my mind
- things haven't worked out that way / genuine change of plan
- we've been told porkies to generate more sales
- something nice is coming

It's hard to tell with the lack of information and I don't intend to point the finger with any one of those ideas. It is the lack of information that is driving quite a few of us crazy with the wait. Recent suggestions from Kaz that private rooms may not be coming to Prologue are quite a blow for me as I thought such features were part of the plan with Prologue. Sorry, I don't wish to be a moaner but that is how I am feeling. I guess I'm losing patience too and would probably be best to take a break! Perhaps I've become a little too obsessed with this game. I remember when I used to realise that online events had been updated and think 'er, nice'. Now, I know in advance they're coming and get a bit too excited about online updates - lol!

I guess we're hungry beasts starting to fight over the scraps! :)

The thought of an update has become almost unimaginable... I too would be mega-excited about any kind of minor update (bar online updates!). However, as months fly by with no clue of progress on GT5, some over-hype with the 'big fall update' and no news in months, I think I - and a lot of others - would be left disappointed if they release another update which 'only' makes another physics alteration and maybe adds a car or two.

disclaimer (!): I am aware this sounds ungrateful and I don't want to start an arguement. I'm usually quite patient and easy to please! I am trying to understand / justify the logic behind the feelings I share with some people here about this situation.

EDIT: re-reading this... I need a break from GT, and I should seek to enrich my life! lol
EDIT 2: just noticed above my avatar I am now classed as a 'GTP addict'... it's a sign I should go on vacation :ill:

I'm still living on faith, that some 'big things' will come soon. I really believe that PD is going to shoot to their own leg, if they dont test some very important stuff in Prologue first, before releasing full version.

GT5 is so waited release, that if there will be lots of 'bugs', and other stupid things when it comes out, people will be very angry. I dont think PD/Kaz wants that, and that's why I think Prologue is so great 'demo', cause it keeps people in it, and gives help to PD to correct things for final game.

I have said this earlier, but I will say it again... I think next add is Tyre-wear. (expert events 10 lappers give me feeling about that)

I don't think GT5P needs a lot of new stuff. The problem is the dominance of certain cars in races. Namely: Capuccino Integra, Clio, NSX, GT-R. Half over the cars in my garage ive never driven more than once. Take for instance, the Lancia or the Swift. If they come up with some original races for those and maybe 1 more track I'd be okay ... for now.

Obviously tire wear, pit stops, collision upgrade, damage system, private rooms, etc. would be nice but Im not expecting it.

I don't think we can expect too much from an actual update, but far more interesting on-line events would give it a bit more life, I don't think they are really coming up with decent combinations at the moment for other cars to be used competively...

1) Be great if they could mix certain races so say Rwd cars must run on say S1, and 4wd on N3 in the same race.

2) Or, wouldn't be too difficult to check the on-line time trials to see how stock cars compare in the fastest hands, and then set up events using only certain cars that have posted similar times.

I would like to use stock cars (no tuning) on stock tires in races, and see how they compare with other stock cars. Only way you can do this at the moment is to use time tials, and save ghosts to compare with the next car.

Cheers mate, I'm glad you can see another side to me :) as I feel most people on here see me as 'that moaning b*sterd'.

have a good weekend.👍

 brillient comment

I cant see us getting anything more. Maybe some physic testing again but not much else before the full game. Thread had been done before so Im not guna repeat myself :)

Heard next year, we would be getting special limited edition "granturismo GTR" just a regular gtr with gt all over it,With kazunoris face engraved on the hood and steering wheel... Car would go for 2 millilion credit's Good way to keep people playing.....

I feel GT5P has done more than enough already, far surpassed its predecessor, GT4 Prologue by miles.
I would rather they just get GT5 finished now rather than getting stuck in an endless loop of updates and never being able to finish the game properly because theyre attention is stuck on keeping Prologue updated.
If I asked 5 years ago if people would have rather seen Valve make Half Life 3 than bring out only 2-3 "episodes" for HL2, I can imagine the answer would be pretty easy.
Same applies here.

If they keep adding stuff to GT5P, whats left for GT5 to do to impress us? If they gave us damage and weather, etc, whats left for GT5 to do? It would become rather redundant other than to provide some new cars and tracks. Let them get on with GT5 please, Prologue is fine as it is now and has done its job of giving us a "taste" of what to expect.

I don't think Prologue was even meant to last this long to be honest, I think even Polyphony have been surprised by how long this game has remained popular.

I think the bottom line is PD is simply putting all their energy into GT5. I'm sure it'll be worth it, too.

I agree with you Ardius if they give us all the goodies now via update (weather/damage/etc) then there won't be somthing to look forward to when the full game arrives, but i think a track or two or a few new cars would certianly make the wait a bit more bearable and we'd all really appriciate it.

Keep the damage/weather/porsche/lambo's/Ring until the final release that way it will be so exciting when the game does come out it will be hard to control ones self:drool:

The repetition of GT5P in my case has been the lack of tracks. I even started drifting the Daytona Oval to change things up a bit and started doing Suzuka and Daytona Road Course backwards as well, just to improvise "new tracks"

I have to agree about needing a update,i started playing prologue again in dec/jan just because i got the DFGT now i hardly ever put the game in,i would rather play GTA4 over.

Ardius said pretty much what I was thinking. I do think that Prologue is due some more goodies though, considering that we did pay $40 for a game which is considerably more than a demo. But I'm not thinking anything major, because Ard is right. A big surprise should be left for GT5 proper. Some additional cars and a non-surprising track or two would be good. Endurance races with tire wear and gas tank depletion with the accompanying weight loss perhaps. If the online needs serious testing and tuning, then I do think they should consider dropping in the entire net aspect of GT5, including private lobbies, races with password locks and voice. Perhaps even saving online replays.

I do think that Kaz and the lads need to focus all out on finishing GT5 so that it might actually arrive by the holidays, and the only updates they do for it are additional cars, with their accompanying one make events.

Forget weather, damage, new cars etc. as rafajole says all that is needed to refresh GT5P is a couple of new tracks. Until that happens I will continue to spend much more time racing in Ferrari Challenge than GT5P...

Sony should concentrate more resourses on "top games" to come out sooner. I mean most of the people do not even bother games rated below 8.5 to simplyfy my case. And also kids do not have too much money to pick every game they would like to, but only the ones they will like. Also these well known "top games" make most of system sales. At least some progress bar for next update would be nice in gt5:P homepage.

Well it is only a demo at the end of the day,it`s far better than GT4P. It has become stale due to a lack of tracks and the dominence of certain cars and moron punters. It`s been out fo 12 months now and thats long enough for a demo really and i think everyone has just played it to death and have moved on to other things, down here in OZ there is virtually no one online to race anymore and even here in the forums it`s very quiet and has been for a few months. Let`s just wait for GT5,hopefully PD can get it finished sooner than the end of 2009!

Its not a demo, if it was a demo it would be free.

hahaha i was going to say, thats a pretty expensive demo :P. I am still enjoying GT5p as i haven't exhausted it's fun factor yet. I try to pace myself by not playing it every day. I just cannot wait for some new cars (especially drift/D1 cars or an sil80/s13/240sx like my real car) and some drift tracks, along with the usual race courses. Does anyone know if Trial Mountain, Deep Forest and the likes of those courses will make it into GT5? I know they aren't actual circuits but like in GT4, they were a great addition and variety. :)👍

Just do what I do... when you finish the whole lot, start all over again from scratch or even download a game save half done and finish it your style.

Since I knew it would be a long time for the actual release of the game, I didn't even TOUCH GT5P until about 1.5 months ago. I've still got a bunch of exploring to do. Hell, there's still cars I've yet to drive just sitting in my garage. Being that it'll still be so long until the full game comes out, I probably won't be bored with GT5P for a while yet :sly:

PD won't turn GT5P into GT5 over time like that. They want money!!! If they did that they would only have less than 1/2 of the money they would get.
